    BRILLIANT comparison video, thanks mate!
    I really appreciate the A/B comparison using a proper riff & filter cutoff automation - it really highlights the differences between them (especially when playing back the same riff at different octaves!)
    Even though Diva has a 'darker' supersaw compared to Spire - I believe the actual notes being played by Diva sounded 'clearer' or more 'defined' to my ears.

      Happy to hear you like the comparison! Diva did sound pretty clear to me as well. I think it is because of how the bass notes in the melody are laid out. If there are bass notes that are playing on 2 different octaves, that tends to create more muddiness due to the high amount of low frequencies. The bass notes only play on 1 octave on this Angerfist melody and there is more space than usual between the bass notes and the melody notes. Probably explains why :p

    Nice video man, yeah I agree with the filter on Diva. I prefer the darker tones myself.

    2:25 Both spire and diva have multiple different filters. I am shure they have some you like

      Depends on what sound I make. I like the Moog filter in Diva but it works best for Moog style sounds. Otherwise I just use the one I used in this video. Spire filter sounds good for EDM plucks and for some pad sounds but for supersaws, the Spire filters tend to sound really flat.

  • @2good2beuntrue
    @2good2beuntrue 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    spire sounds more bright, but it's nothing you can't achieve with a bit of an EQ ... Diva has a better filter for sure. I feel both are equal if you use custom filter on Spire or if you use EQ to brighten up the Diva. One can achieve same sound on both of them. I have Spire and I prefer it over Serum, cuz it has this kind of warmth to it. Spire = for designing sound from scratch, Serum = for inserting custom waveforms, Diva = same as Spire pretty much with a bit of a better filter, but less brightness so just use EQ on its high end.

      You shouldn't need 3rd party to make something sound better. It should reproduce sounds naturally without introducing outside influences.

    Arturia mini V Saw sound? compared Diva sound

    • @EyezerProductionz

      I have not used mini V that much, but in general I find Arturia's emulations to be quite boring sounding (except for their DX7 emulation). Diva is probably better in terms of sound, if I have to guess.

    Spire = best supersaw on a soft synth.
    Unfortunately, Diva has no stero spread on the JP-8k oscillators.

      Fully agree; Spire can do the best emulation of 90s classic Trance and Dance supersaws available right now in the market, clean and analog sounding as well

      @@chakko007 Diva emulates every feature of the JP, but doesn't add any. It also allows you to combine aspects from legendary synths to create sounds impossible to recreate from each individual unit. Diva is simply the best you'll spend your money on if you're seeking to recreate any analog sound you've heard before, and also has the ability to create those you haven’t.

    Can you do another comparison video (similar style to this video) but with Knifonium?
    There is allot of hype around Knifonium. Apparently it can do 8 voices with stereo-spreadingm, but I'm yet to see any videos of Knifonium making supersaw type sounds.

    • @EyezerProductionz
      @EyezerProductionz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can test the synth and make supersaws with it if you want to, but I don't feel making a comparison with it. My next comparison video I have planned, will involve a hardware synthesizer (Novation MiniNova). If my current employment gets extended, then I am going to buy the Waldorf Blofeld as well and make comparisons with it (and of course make Hardstyle sounds).

    Diva is less digital because it does not have harsh high end

    • @EyezerProductionz
      @EyezerProductionz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends also on the oversampling settings. When Diva is on draft (the lowest oversampling setting) then it will have a harsher high end (thus sounding more similar to Spire). I used the great setting here which tend to remove some of those harsher high freqs.

  • @RD-ni7qe
    @RD-ni7qe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been testing Diva today for myself, sounds great - however it's taking me a while to find my way around the UI.
    Question - am I blind, or is there no actual stereo unison 'spread' control? I can only see a pan control under the amplifier/pan section.

    • @EyezerProductionz
      @EyezerProductionz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think there is no unison stereo spread in Diva. As far as I know, the original JP-8000/8080 does not have that either.

    • @RD-ni7qe
      @RD-ni7qe 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EyezerProductionz ohh ok! How do you usually go about making your leads wide with Diva without relying on delay or reverb FX for width?
      Do you just create a new instance of Diva, then pan one left and the other right?

    • @EyezerProductionz
      @EyezerProductionz  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RD-ni7qe I honestly prefer leads (and many other sounds in general) to be in mono, so I never use any pan-spreading techniques. If I make a sound in stereo, then I use the stereo width that comes with the synth and nothing else.

    1. Of courser you will not be able to tell the deference between these two VSTs. Its because they are both using the same sounds chips on your Computer.

    • @EyezerProductionz
      @EyezerProductionz  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is not my experience with VST synths. I have heard clear differences between synths, particularly between filters, AMP envelopes, LFO behavior etc. That is why I own a couple of VST synths, because I find one VST to do something better than another VST.

    • @chakko007
      @chakko007 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's like saying every piece of music you listen to on a computer sounds the same, because it all comes from the same sound chip. ;)
      Soft synths use different algorithms to create sounds, the filters have different characteristics, the waveforms look different, there's a different amount ot non linearities in the signal path etc. So, no, they definitely don't sound the same. Grab a couple of soft synths, and compare them. They sound vastly different in many cases.
