@@metal_complexI hate to break it to you especially since you were so happy that the Rockwell hardness was 60 to 62. It's not 60 to 62 it's 58 to 62. On their website it says 60 + - 60. The minus symbol is right under the plus symbol, it's small but it's there. This is the common way tolerance is shown on a machinest's blueprint, something I look at dozens of times every day I work. Btw, I wish it was 60 to 62 as well. 😔
Just made a trip up to White Mountain Knives which is fairly local to me, and picked up their new exclusive version of this, and my god is it amazing. My first experience with Vosteed and they knocked it out of the park!
Based on the tempering chart on the Bohler website, the temperature range that gives the highest corrosion resistance (200 - 300 C) corresponds to an HRc range of 57 - 59. The temp range that gives the highest wear resistance (540 - 560 C) corresponds to an HRc range of 58 - 60. I'm guessing a lot of manufacturers are going for the 59-61 range to optimize both wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Depending on the other heat treat aspects, they may also be able to save money by skipping some steps like cryogenic treatments with liquid nitrogen that would only bump up the HRc by 1 point to the max of 62.
That knife sold out so fast. Then the name issue with cold steel made it even more desirable to get one with the Mayhem name on it. I regret not buying it when I had the chance.
You’re really onto something with some mid-range and budget options (as well as another premium run for those that want it). This was just out of my range, but I really did want it. Thanks MC!
My spaghetti master 9000 arrives this week. I got the wharnie blacked. I will always refer to it as that, even though that's not even what you were saying in context, screw mayhem and Rskaos. spaghetti master 9000 it is now.
It's funny that every knife reviewer dings knives for not having reversible carry clips but as a lefty myself I've never felt the need to have left handed accessibility. When I started carrying a pocketknife 14 years ago I carried on my right hand side and have been ever since...
So I believe you failed to notice this isn’t just a liner lock…. The lock is on the spine side and goes between the stop pin and the blade tang. This is a compression lock just like Spyderco and with a button is close to the Smock in design. Actually with the position of the stop pin it’s probably stronger than the Smock and is closer in strength to the Shaman! This is a big deal as I’m not aware of another compression lock on a non-Spyderco! On another note, the vosteed website says 60+_2 or 58-62 HRc. (Plus or minus 2)
I could do without the slash marks on the blade and frame, but the rest of the knife looks sooooooo good I’ll probably be willing to live with them. Fingers crossed it comes back in stock.
I was really into this knife when it first debuted, but the appeal just didn’t continue. But, a nice harpoon blade might radically change my mind. Still, I love the finger safe liner lock, and I suspect Vosteed will get a purchase from me someday.
It seems to have a good feel but how durable is it? Put it a hard test to see if the blade easily bends, does it maintain sharpness, etc. Any knife is good if you never use it.
Hi I just wanted to clarify a mistake regarding the HRC range you mentioned. HRC 60±2 means the range is from 58 to 62. Vosteed has also confirmed this through an email with me. So there is a huge HRC range sadly.
I have one, and really like it. Although I was able to press the button with a tight grip, it was not enough to disengage the lock. Hoping Original Goat (or Vosteed) will have some scales and/or hardware to give it a bit more color.
Great looking knife. You should really look into the E.D.Z. By Indiana knives. Front/top flipper with a spydie hole and button lock. Vanax and a titanium frame. Seems like something you’d like.
There is a different between Gr2 and Gr5 titanium, Gr2 isn't as hard to work with as Gr5, it also doesn't have "spring" so framelocks can't be made from Gr2 as the lock bar won't be able to spring back to it's bent memory
th-cam.com/video/I_O0Rbxqxds/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_6W_o9vixH5o588R. You only have to watch from about 10 minutes in to about 11 in. This is the only video that pushed me away from getting this knife. He was not very hard on the spin whack at all and essentially destroyed the lock and there is no way to fix it. Thoughts?
Well maybe you should list as of your airing whether the knife is in stock or not; that would be a serious attribute to your show; not the pompous display of indifference that you so obviously & readily cast onto the people you supposedly cater to; Show Some Couth Bruh.... 🙄

This knife is no longer called the "Mayhem". They changed the name to "RSKAOS" after the prototype phase. Sorry for the mix up.

My White Mountain exclusive version just came in the mail yesterday and it's amazing! I think it is absolutely worth the price tag
❤ the riffs on silly infomercials setups. You’re the best

I chatted with vosteed and another run is due later this year 👀
Absolutely stunning knife. Beautiful shine and smooth action...very nice...WANT...NEED
I got the White Mountain exclusive version with an Elmax blade & blue hardware. Vosteed did an amazing job on this knife!
Looking forward to the WMK exclusive with that pop of blue.
I just got mine yesterday and the blue ads a really nice touch
I was really into this knife when it first debuted, but the appeal just didn’t continue.
But, a nice harpoon blade might radically change my mind.
Still, I love the finger safe liner lock, and I suspect Vosteed will get a purchase from me someday.
I would buy a 14C28N and G10 variant in a heartbeat at the 60-70 range
They changed the hard wear to T-8. Thanks for the review MC buy the way this is a great knife for the money.👍🔪😊
It seems to have a good feel but how durable is it? Put it a hard test to see if the blade easily bends, does it maintain sharpness, etc. Any knife is good if you never use it.
Best looking vosteed so far!
I'm still impressed Tuya is doing s90v @ 60-62 for the price they are!

The hardness on the site is 60±2 which is "plus or minus" meaning it could range from 58 - 62

I like it, but the button placement is an issue for me. Great review!
It’s also a play on the designer RS Knives
Micarta or g10 version would be pretty epic
Falling off the roof while making spaghetti is the #1 cause of death in Florida.
7:10 Their website says HRC: 60 + or - 2 Not just plus.. 🤷♂😁
There is a different between Gr2 and Gr5 titanium, Gr2 isn't as hard to work with as Gr5, it also doesn't have "spring" so framelocks can't be made from Gr2 as the lock bar won't be able to spring back to it's bent memory
The grind is great for cutting wires.
Vosteed's spec says HRC 60 +/- 2 (58-62) - Still in stock at Chicago Knife Works - WAS, no more.
Man i which they put that button liner lock thing on budget models. I dont think its terribly complex? Do such knives exist?
14:13 I have never seen a content creator do that 😂 😂😂
Thanks . Another great review. Appreciate it. 👊
Wish it didnt have t6 or that goofy only cosmetic compound grind.
It would be perfect without those lol
Yes Vosteed…BUDGET VERSION PLEASE!!! Or even the semi-budget version. This is a very cool design but certainly out of my price range
Not actually a button lock! It’s using a button actuated liner lock. Really cool mechanism!
Liked the video solely for the spaghetti rant.
Kind of reminds me of the Spyderco Smock. I like it better.
Cyber Smock?
This is always out of stock... does you releasing this video mean that theyre back soon???
No. My content doesn't always sync with releases. It's just kinda whatever I feel like doing based on what I have here
60-62 is 👍👍for hardness imo .
I dig it
Number 003! When's the giveaway?
so it's like a factory buil-in CME...
Imagine if everything was in stock when you posted... They'd call you a shill, right? It's almost like you can't win with the masses. 🙄Cheers MC 👐
They make some nice stuff but this one just doesn't do it for me...

Thanks for helping me spend my money!🔪🔪
yo this is so cool! also i got the first comment!
Hahah no when you review things. They mostly go out of stock the next day :p
Bruh.... NO CARD SLAP?!? unsubbed
