I recently bought the perfume Caractère by Daniel Hechter (Paris, 1989). I live in France and it is sold in some supermarkets for very very cheap price (15 dollars or less). I bought it on a whim and almost for fun. I usually buy my perfumes in Grasse (in the south of France where I live). But I must admit that I was really shocked by the quality of this perfume. Really really really shocked! It's exactly as you describe it in your video! Great bergamot (real bergamot and not rotten lemon), a stable, not strong, jasmine base, and on top of that, woody and tabacco notes of leather with point of amber. I was born in 88, one year before this perfume, and it totally remind me my childhood in Paris. I don't know why, but this perfume always reminds me the particular atmosphere of that time, which can be found, for example, in the music video of the French singer Liane Foly "Laisse pleurer les nuages" released in 1993. Anyway, thank you very much for this video because it makes me feel less alone in my fascination for this perfume at less than 20 dollars hahaha.
Can find "Caractère Daniel Hechter" in a lot of stores in France even supermarkets for 14€ but doesn't smells like a 14€ fragrance, it's an amazing one for the price.
My local Burlington here in Southern California had two bottles of Roccobarocco at $9.99 each. I bought the only two bottles they had on the shelf two months ago. Great buy! Smells so good and expensive.
Ciel de gum is so so good. I first learned about it on your man loves cologne channel. I have been a fan since then but disappointing it's no longer selling. I hope it's a temporary thing. Great video either way Sebastian.
Good vid. Just bought Charactere in France at Auchan supermarket. They have it and other DH frags on the shelves but i couldn't find it on their website. Also picked up Cuir Sensuel , a Francis Kurkdjian composition. Cheap as chips, if you're in France, or have someone in France to get it for you

They only had a few more bottles at the store and I purchased it. The sales assistant was shocked that just when it is discontinued, EVERYONE is asking for it.
I own and enjoy that Mauboussin fragrance. I hope to get a backup bottle whenever it becomes available again. Does anyone think that certain fragrances are difficult to get due to the supply chain issues? Has anyone been thinking that many fragrances are stuck on boats which haven't had a turn yet to unload at a port? I've been thinking that it's possible.

Bought backup bottles of both CdG Rouge and Mont Blanc Explorer. I expect Explorer is around for a long time yet, but I plan to use it as nearly signature, so it's good to have a "supply" of it. As for Rouge, I'm paranoid about it getting discontinued, so, yes, I want a backup, maybe two.
Hello Sebastian! Is Ciel de gum unisex leaning masculine or a true unisex? I love Grand Soir and bought a FB but i find it too masculine for me so im afraid this one might be the same.
I luckily bought my first bottle of CDG back at the start of October direct from MFK. Within two or three days, I noticed that it had become temporarily unavailable. I’m not surprised if it were to be discontinued. It wasn’t a popular scent. Even many MFK fans didn’t really know or care about it. Hopefully, it’s just a temporary departure.
Yup. I was one of the lucky ones. Picked up Roccabarocco and the Mauboussin. The Gum was out of my price range at the time (I’d already dumped a load on a bunch of Xerjoff’s at the time ((Symphonium, Save Me, Italica, all three because of you ;)). Fantastic recommendations, Sebastian. You really have a thinning effect on my wallet. I wish you had that effect on my waistline lol. Have a great night!

Are the pre LVMF and post LVMH versions actually different or is it just the colour that has changed? I don't recall hearing anyone talk about a reformulation. But as it was a fragrance very low on the radar, maybe nobody ever checked.

The scent is definitely the same! I will ask my client to show me her bottle so I can snap a pic together side by side to show the difference in color. My bottle juice is red hers is Amber orange.
I would love to have Gucci Pour Homme (Black and white box, brown juice) and Gucci Pour Homme II (blue box and blue juice with loads of violet I think!)

She told me last time that all the exclusives (754, Le beau Parfum, Ciel de Gum) were discontinued. APOM will be reformulated and come back. Just spend some time in Dubai and there I could still find Lumber Noire pour Homme and pour Femme. But never could find nor sniff your Absolue pour le soir (sounds amazing as I have Grand Soir and Ciel de gum which I love!!)

Report: The local place here in my city had various varieties of Dior Pour Homme but NOT the Parfum. Disappointment. I sniffed the others...good, but I'll hold off until I can see what the parfum offers. Also sniffed Sauvage Elixir. Wowowowowow. Remember, I'm new to all this, and I'm not "immune" to Sauvage. I remember your comment that, if you're going to have a Sauvage (and I suppose it's a must in any collection), there's little point in getting anything less than the elixir. I do believe I'll be doing that. i sniffed it in a Macy's in America in August and it just seemed like tooooo MUCH to actually wear. Funny enough, this evening it didn't--no, not at all. Is it perhaps because that was in August and this is mid-November? I think it might. By the way, sniffed Guerlain Pour Homme (was that the name, I'm not sure now) Extreme. Was BLOWN AWAY at first. But by the time I got home, you knoiw what? It had dried down to little more than Karl Lagerfeld's intensely linear-monotone Bois d"Ambre, which I have, so there's no point in thinking any more about this Guerlain (though I'm thinking about others, especially Vetiver). Ended up buying a backup bottle of my beloved Mont Blanc Explorer.
I did post this before, so pardon the repetition if you read that, but in case you didn't, you might enjoy knowing that GUM means "Gosudarstvenniy Universal'niy Magazin," meaning "State Universal Store."

I have a new bottle from 2021 and a my second bottle purchase from 2016 just before they became LVMH juice color is so different.
