Oresund Bridge - A fantastic connection to Sweden

At the end of September 2018, we crossed the Oresund Bridge after visiting Germany and Austria for 3 weeks.
The pictures from that crossing are the basic material for this video.
Together with the Øresund Bridge Customer Center, which kindly released copyright protecting images and video, and data from Google and Wikipedia, a travel description has been produced for information and education.

I crossed the bridge going to Sweden some years ago on my Royal Enfield Bullet 500 cc motorcycle. There was a stiff breeze from the North East. It was a wild ride. Coming back to Denmark, I was expecting to face the West wind but, luckily, it was relatively gentle. The wind does get going at the highest point. A magnificent piece of engineering.
I'm going that way on my tour of Sweden, Norway and Finland, so looking forward to it later this year.
I adore that bridge. Living in Denmark, I have been driving there to Sweden and back many times and I cannot stop admiring that construction, also the views both sides of it. Thank You for that pretty film - greetings -

A few years ago I passed under the bridge on a cruise ship and in July of this year I had an extended stay in Copenhagen. Traveled by train many times between Copenhagen and Malmo. Enjoyed my time in both cities and admire the engineering that made the bridge possible.

My first viewing of the great, world-class structure. Coming the other way, you had no idea about the railway part of the bridge. Fantastic upload. Did take a long time to get to the bridge from Sweden, at least 20 min. 10-23-21 St. Joseph, MO, USA (I'm 77)
Thank you! Yes. The base film itself is uncut and covers the entire journey from Copenhagen to the customs station in Sweden. The time of the film is the time of the journey!

You say there are emergency exits. What's on the other side of the exit? Land, water, another tunnel?
The exit doors lead to an evacuation tunnel that runs parallel to the highway. On the bridge, there are corresponding emergency stairs that connect the two bridge decks.

Welcome to Sweden.
In winter, road conditions can be difficult, but all roads are always open and toll-free.
I recommend a trip via the E6 on the west coast towards Sweden's second city Gothenburg.
Or a longer trip through inner Sweden via the E4 to the capital Stockholm.
Or why not visit the mountains in the north with lots of snow and high air.

How long did it take?
Thank you for your interest. The travel time is the same as the length of the video, approx. 10 min at legal speed. Driving in the tunnel approx. 2 min.

How much does the toll cost?. It's probably cheaper to cross it via train.
You are right. Compared to driving a car, it is cheaper to travel by train across the bridge.
or you can go by bus between Copenhagen and Malmö!

Car is 53 Euro
Train is 12 Euro
Each way.
Fifty euros is steep for a one way trip by car.Beautiful bridge but costly.I can travel over the more modern Severn bridge for free between England and Wales and that bridge is beautiful too.
Thanks for the comment. The price does not apply to a car but to our motorhome (8m).
@@dibe-se thank you for your clarification. But still expensive for travellers, the bridge must have been very expensive to build at the time for charges to be so high.

The price for a normal car is 400 DKK or 53 Euro each way.
The bridge has to earn itself in 30 years. The other big bridge in Denmark, the Great Belt Bridge, had more traffic than expected, so the lowered the price a bit.
How long does it take to cross the 7.8km part?
The video shows the journey in the tunnel and across the bridge in real time. So in reality about 10 minutes.
@@dibe-se yeah yeah, I meant the part where U can see the water actually (I’m scared of large bodies of water), is it like 5mins or less if U go @ 110km/h?

that move you took at the gate is a illigal move and you got a fine 2500 and a cut in your licens
You are right. It was not correct but something happened behind me, which caused this maneuver.
Why an illegal move? he was stopped and changed lanes when noone was not even close! Also i don't see any signals for that. I mean ok he changed lane at a sudden, but that's something i saw in Greece many times and not only, Bulgaria-Romania-Serbia and most of Balcan countries i've travelled so far, plus with traffic :O

It is simply incredible that there is no emergency lane in the tunnel. Incomprehensible!
Both motorway and railway has emergency doors to an evacuation tunnel.

First of all, this is a beautiful bridge but it took too 'many' years to complete this bridge. Construction started at 1995 and completion on 2000. For a 7.8km span bridge this duration is long overdue .... according to the current Eastern standard.
However, this bridge will stand strong long after all the "eastern" bridges has fallen apart...
