Ibrahim Kalin: What’s the extent of Turkey’s operation in Syria? | Talk to Al Jazeera

  • Following last month’s attack in Istanbul, the Turkish government has blamed the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its affiliated groups in neighbouring countries.
In response, Ankara has threatened to launch a ground operation into northern Syria.
The US and Russian governments have warned against such a move.
But if the Turkish military goes ahead with a ground offensive, what will be its wider regional effect?
We will put that to the man who has served as a member of the Turkish Security and Foreign Policy Council and chief adviser to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish presidential spokesman, Ibrahim Kalin, talks to Al Jazeera.

I am a Turk of Kurdish origin. I say this with pride because Turk means all of us, our common roof, our house. The most beautiful definition was given by the Great ATATÜRK: "The people of Turkiye who founded the Republic of Turkiye are called the Turkish nation." That is the end of the matter for me! May my blood and life be sacrificed to the great Turkish nation. May my existence be a gift to Turkish existence!

🎵 "Even in those early comedies I strove for a mood; usually music created it. An old song called Mrs Grundy created the mood for 'The Immigrant'. The tune had a wistful tenderness that suggested two lonely derelicts getting married on a doleful, rainy day ... Simple little tunes gave me the image for other comedies ... Auld Lang Syne [set] the mood for 'The Gold Rush' ... Over the years I have discovered that ideas come through an intense desire for them; continually desiring, the mind becomes a watch-tower on the look-out for incidents that may excite the imagination - music, a sunset, may give image to an idea."

The Gulf States should be contributing to global health & functionality, at minimum they should increase energy production to offset global disruptions caused by vile Russian aggression... then countries like Turkey would have cheaper alternatives, and better behavior could be demanded. Reputations are being defined during this conflict, and those reputations will have consequences.

The melody for this piece came to me during a journey I made some years ago, when I was blessed to spend many days and nights immersed in and transformed by sacred music and ceremonies. When I later decided to set this poem by the Azerbaijani mystical poet Nasimi to the melody, I was amazed at how perfectly his words matched the music I had composed. I believe the reason is that both the music and the words reflect a glimpse - however fleeting in my case - of the eternal.

*_Why must we learn to appreciate our own efforts_*_ ??_ 🤔
Self-appreciation not only keeps us motivated but also stops us from being hurt when others don't appreciate us.
We usually rely on others to recognise and appreciate our efforts. When this doesn't happen, we feel our effort are worthless. This sometimes becomes a source of disappointment for us, and we even begin to doubt ourselves.
Be a self-encourager. Others might not compliment your efforts, but you know how difficult it was, how hard you tried and how you felt, you must appreciate yourself.

_When someone we love decides to leave, or we have to let go of an opportunity, we keep thinking about it. The more we think harder it gets to let go._
