Man, you deserve all possible contragulations!! From your bedroom, with a whiteboard, to the Aston Martin facility, test driving their cars! That's pretty awesome! I appreciate your work!
Drives RHD for the first time...does it in a Aston Martin Vanquish V12....like a BOSS xD Amazing how far this channel has come Jason. Being an engineer myself (microelectronics) it is so refreshing to see what kind of high quality content youtube has to offer for everyone to see. Keep up this amazing work! Regarding the car: I myself love japanese verhicles, but I think Aston Martin builts the most beautiful cars in the world period. There can be 12 Lamborghinis, Porsche 918s, Ferraris and I don't know what, I'd always pick the Aston. There is just something about them.
Very nice review. The Astons have visibility that is pretty good for cars in its class. That said, the Astons live up to the Bond mystique for a reason. Love your stuff you've posted from the UK. Nice work!
lol, it's fun watching you rattle off a few facts, put your foot down, get a big grin, then go back to the details. it's a really fun feeling driving exotic cars for the first time! glad you enjoyed yourself. :)
+Darren Boss We have roundabouts in the U.S. There are 3 or 4 in my area. The only catch is they're all single lane. One of them had two lanes going around the roundabout, but too many idiots crashed, so they changed it and now it's only a single lane...that is two lanes wide. The problem in my area is that there is a test to make sure you learn the laws of the road, but no test to make sure you know how to control your car.
Hey guys, do you guys mind if Jared takes out the $300K V12 570HP car out for a rip? By the way, he's never driven a right side steering wheel car and has never drive on a left side road before in his life. He is an engineer though.
Welcome to England :) we've had some terrible weather recently haha. I actually live a couple of miles away from aston martin in Gaydon. It feels so weird that you were there as I recognise all those roads. Would have been good to meet you :)
Great video. I love how you say "I can't speed" at the end, but show the speedo at 67 at 3:03. On a single carriage way which, in the UK, has a maximum speed limit of 60, I think most would consider that speeding.
+Cornwall1888 Yeah maybe it's not a big deal but when you're taking the lives of other road users into your own hands on what is clearly a fairly crowded road it could be the difference between life and death. It just seems a bit unprofessional when reviewing such a high performance luxury car. There are speed limits for a reason.
+Engineering Explained so would you guess that the power to torque ratio has more to do with exhaust and intake efficiency and effectiveness, compression ratio, and cam timing and duration?
+Clayton L Good point, I have no idea. I do know people used to say the Italians used to design engines around cylinders of a certain cc (somehow optimal?), and then add more cylinders to increase displacement. I'm not sure why they did that.
i am interested in this model and the Ferrari f12 as daily drive gt car.... both are great but, i am little confused right now because of the mechanical changes of the 8 speed transmission which i liked so much and after choosing the f12 now i am frustrated between it and this model, give me you opinion please!!
From what I've read and seen, the Ferrari is quite a bit more exciting to drive, the Aston is probably a bit more comfortable. Personally, I would have the f12 because of looks and performance but the Aston is a very close second. Either way your wallet will be hurting and you will be having a lot of fun.
That was just me testing how it felt. One of the best systems I've tested, loved it. Especially impressed with how it felt considering winter tires. I'm flailing when I'm talking about steering..
Hey nice Review man, Here is a an idea for a video regular rubber hoses VS Braided Stainless Hose for oil pumps, power steering .. etc... Good idea or no?
I think you would be an excellent candidate for a REAL attempt at an American Top Gear TV show. Or, you could just have your own show, Engineering Explained. Or, both!! You have a great audience here, but I know so many people who don't spend much time online who would also really enjoy what you do. Maybe we should all contact BBC America and get the ball rolling.
Probably not that "Wild" as Aston Martin's Vanquish is aimed at very very wealthy individuals. These people (who can afford entry) are often mid to late 50's, and 60's. Think Prince Charles, and are past taking huge risks with their valuable lives. But you are one luck guy, your smile basically said everything. Aston Martins are again Gorgeously Beautiful, very Powerful, and Naturally Aspirated, Comfortable, all anyone could ask for in a car.
Apparently Chris Harris will be joining, if the news is true. I think that's about as good as they could possibly do, so congrats all around if it pans out!
I guess you should put your EE logo at the corner of videos, small & transparent. So we know if someone clip your video for their videos without permission and make another EE logo for the approved ones.
+Engineering Explained ok, but 8 gears dont have the strengh of lower gears and because the fifth gear and 6 gear have more streng they reach faster to a high speed. I am saying this because some cars with less gears, when they race cars with more gears you see that after they put 6 gears they start to lose. With 8 gears the gear racio are more short.
I think there's a little bit of misinformation going on with the dual ECUs there. My AUDI S6 has two engine ECUs, but one of them is just running in "slave mode" as essentially an I/O expander, it's not managing engine at all, that's done by the master.
Great video. But did anyone else find it odd that their engineering rig had crap and rocks in the tires? Can a bloke just walk over there and take a wet rag to it for professional appearance?
lol "i can't speed that's the rule" well being English, all I'm going to say is no-ones going to blame you for having fun, especially not in an Aston Martin.....
Man, you deserve all possible contragulations!!

Thanks for the kind words! It is indeed a beautiful car.
Love your reviews and videos. I'm glad you got the chance to visit Aston Martin! A good, honest review without making the car feel unapproachable
would you be able to make a video on how a dry sump oil system works?
That laugh is the laugh of 5 year old boy coming out, that's how you know if it's a good car or not!
+TheRedFox911 I agree. That has to be an awesome car to drive.
+TheRedFox911
i was waiting for that one, thank you ! (french guy)
Feel the power of the Duratec V12. The spirit of the Contour SVT lives on!
That is no ordinary key, that is an Emotional Control Unit. LOL I love Aston :)
Very nice review. The Astons have visibility that is pretty good for cars in its class. That said, the Astons live up to the Bond mystique for a reason. Love your stuff you've posted from the UK. Nice work!
Look at that smile on his face when he hits the throttle. No words necessary.
Hanging with the Car Throttle in your time in England
Of course!
Out of all the reviews he done this is my favourite , all that smiling and grinning tell you everything you need to know about this car :D
lol, it's fun watching you rattle off a few facts, put your foot down, get a big grin, then go back to the details. it's a really fun feeling driving exotic cars for the first time! glad you enjoyed yourself. :)
He drove straight past my college! cant believe i missed him!
Hope you enjoyed your time over here in the UK!
Man been following you since the beginning and so glad to see at what point you got and the awesome cars you get to try
Thanks for following along!
lucky to be driving that Aston Martin. great video keep the reviews coming
Did you have to pass any tests before you could drive in England or do they recognize your American license?
US license works.
US visitors can drive on a US license for up to 6 months.
+emertes17 It would be an idea just to go try out a roundabout if you're not familiar :D
+Darren Boss We have roundabouts in the U.S. There are 3 or 4 in my area. The only catch is they're all single lane. One of them had two lanes going around the roundabout, but too many idiots crashed, so they changed it and now it's only a single lane...that is two lanes wide.

Awesome video Dude
Whoa, pulling in some big guns, huh, Jason! Keep going :)

Basically how it went!
+55Irving He stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before the shoot.
Love this car in the carbon white edition, beautiful!
epic car, i didnt think the auto would feel like a dual clutch very impressive and great vid 👍
Welcome to England :) we've had some terrible weather recently haha. I actually live a couple of miles away from aston martin in Gaydon. It feels so weird that you were there as I recognise all those roads. Would have been good to meet you :)
I definitively would have crashed driving right hand and left side of the road, props to you my man.
Great video. I love how you say "I can't speed" at the end, but show the speedo at 67 at 3:03. On a single carriage way which, in the UK, has a maximum speed limit of 60, I think most would consider that speeding.
+Jack McLaughlan It's in km/h ;)
+andrews2547 GG
+andrews2547 it's in mph but 67mph in a 60mph isn't a big deal.
Cornwall1888 woosh
+Cornwall1888 Yeah maybe it's not a big deal but when you're taking the lives of other road users into your own hands on what is clearly a fairly crowded road it could be the difference between life and death. Was good to see you drive on the correct side of the road. :-)
Still interested in learning more about those swan wing doors.
Awesome car.. Nice review good job...
I had half of this engine when I owned my 07 V6 mazda 6 Lol great engine even as a 6 cylinder.
the first time seeing you drive on the correct side
As a rule of thumb, is it true that the cylinder count to displacement ratio is directly related to the horsepower to torque ratio?
No idea, but I would guess there is little correlation.
Really cool video. 6:45 - 6.48 ESP flashing on the speedo... Cool :)
Good to see you in the correct side of the car and road :-)
Did anyone find any more information about these NDH panels? Is this a common feature for Vibration reduction?
Great car! Is there some form of insurance involved before you test drove the car?
i am interested in this model and the Ferrari f12 as daily drive gt car.... both are great but, i am little confused right now because of the mechanical changes of the 8 speed transmission which i liked so much and after choosing the f12 now i am frustrated between it and this model, give me you opinion please!!
+elhussain farouk Drive them both, and get a feel for the cars. Then pick which one you liked more.
From what I've read and seen, the Ferrari is quite a bit more exciting to drive, the Aston is probably a bit more comfortable. Personally, I would have the f12 because of looks and performance but the Aston is a very close second. Either way your wallet will be hurting and you will be having a lot of fun.
@Engineering Explained Did you get a chance to see any customer owned 177's? Also great review jason!
Just wondering, how do you figure out an engines displacement. Is it bore x stroke x # of cylinders?
+Roger Toledo Yes. The combustion chamber at the top doesn't count. It's the volume that's displaced (get it? :P).
TassieLorenzo yeah, just to make sure. It's the maximum amount of volume that can be displaced and you multiply that by the total number of cylinders?
Roger Toledo 3.14/4 (0.7854) x bore diameter x bore diameter x stroke length x number of cylinders.
Love that color inside
I knew it! I saw you one morning on my way to work, but wasn't sure if it was you... Missed my chance to meet you
Next time feel free to say hello! Met several subscribers while I was over there!
+Seb Mylliee "Hey you! Yeah you. Are you that guy from the internet? :P
what was the steering like? it looked like you had to do quite a bit of flailing with the wheel to keep straight.
That was just me testing how it felt. One of the best systems I've tested, loved it. Especially impressed with how it felt considering winter tires. I'm flailing when I'm talking about steering..
ah ok, thanks for the explanation.
He says "...and it starts right up." as if it wasnt supposed to. LOL
It feels right Jason, it just feels right driving on the left..
So you got to meet the car throttle boys? That's cool.
You know you're having fun when you start laughing like a little school girl, eh? :>)
diamond stitching makes me way happier than it should
Dream car right there.
Which one would you choose? This Aston or the S65 AMG Coupe? those are kind of my dream cars... I like big grand touring cars... xD
There is some weird issue with audio panning from left to right and so on
I hope you get a paper cut while coming home :-) I am so drooling !!!!! Enjoy every second behind the wheel of those cars.
Are you going to have a video with Car throttle?
Yep, a couple. Some on my channel some on theirs.
How was the transition from driving on the left side to now the right side?
Not as weird as it looks, but I wasn't fully comfortable with it.
+Engineering Explained keep up the great work...you are a responsible driver..
Or, both!! Driving on the correct side.
did you drive any other Aston Martins?
The most impressive thing is that the brits manage to build a car that won't refuse to start when it smells rain :D
Subura STi to an Aston Martin Vanquish = UPGRADE!
His smile says it all!
I hope you drive the DB11
Any chance you could do a Porsche 911 Turbo s and/or 911 GT3 RS review in the future?
"It's what the audience wants, Porsche!"
Probably not that "Wild" as Aston Martin's Vanquish is aimed at very very wealthy individuals. These people (who can afford entry) are often mid to late 50's, and 60's. Think Prince Charles, and are past taking huge risks with their valuable lives.

Rain and traffic, yup welcome to England xD
How'd the Top Gear interview go? ;)
Apparently Chris Harris will be joining, if the news is true. I think that's about as good as they could possibly do, so congrats all around if it pans out!
That steering wheel looks sexy as hell
always liked aston for not taking the ship other cars manufacturers took
Did that test drive take longer than any you've done??????
I guess you should put your EE logo at the corner of videos, small & transparent. So we know if someone clip your video for their videos without permission and make another EE logo for the approved ones.
Welcome to my country, is that the best car you have driven so far?
I can be wrong but 8 speed only gives the car more accelaration, but with 6 speed the gears have more strengh to get faster to top speed.
Number of gears does not dictate quickness to top speed. 8 speed is both quicker and faster.
How did you like England ??
I think there's a little bit of misinformation going on with the dual ECUs there. My AUDI S6 has two engine ECUs, but one of them is just running in "slave mode" as essentially an I/O expander, it's not managing engine at all, that's done by the master.
no negative point?
It's $300,000. There's a lot to love for its intended purpose.
oi mate, wot you doin in england ey?
Jus having a drink with my m8s.
Not enough "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" moment =D
No highway on ramp 0-60!?
Porsche put the transmission in the back too in the 944.
BMW had(has?) on v12 engines 2 motronic(DME) boxes. Wouldn't call it an advantage. More stuff that than break and put the car in limp-mode.
Lol it rains in 90% of your car reviews
Wow is it really depressing weather all the time in England?? Didn't want to believe it
Rain one day doesn't mean rain every day. It's winter, and it didn't rain all that much for the week I was there.
+PapayaMan i live here for over 10 years now and its still raining :D
mephist7 :O bless you
"...kind of feel unobtainable as far as their performance limit..." Yeah this car is unobtainable because of it's price, not it's performance...
god i wish i had the money to buy this.
So Jason, what do you think of our terrible roads and extortionate fuel prices? I live in Birmingham so you can't be that far!
Haha I was told under £1/liter was pretty incredible. There will be riots in America if it ever gets that high.
nice!
I can assure you those roads will not be smooth.
I feel a more in-depth review is needed, Aston might have to lend you one for a week or two.
Great video. But did anyone else find it odd that their engineering rig had crap and rocks in the tires? Can a bloke just walk over there and take a wet rag to it for professional appearance?
I thought it was cool, made it look like it came off the street.
so its basically just a very good car overall? :)
england huh? That explains the wheel on the right.
lol "i can't speed that's the rule"
well being English, all I'm going to say is no-ones going to blame you for having fun, especially not in an Aston Martin.....
shoulda went jdm.
damn those seats are sexy
+iliovecaRS they make them into office chairs too but you will pay over 240 $ for 1
Good grief, it's messing with me, simply from a viewer standpoint, seeing everything on the opposite side of the car, lol.
Did you get lost in a strange country?
I thought I was headed to New England but apparently not. Plane landed elsewhere, made the most of it!

No, ford fusion looks like aston martin.
+shawn bryson (WRX508) Ford owns aston martin and they took the aston martin grill years ago and put it on their fusion.
+draginator6 owned*
Coxy002605 Yeah, I still get annoyed at ford because of that.
would take an s63 amg coupe over this any day. And about half the price
So do it.
+faROCK03 I would go for the S65, there is something about V12's and 6 In-Line's that a v8 will never be able to get...
