    I trained Thai boxing in a professional camp in Thailand on a few occasions when younger. All the fighters run 10k in the morning 6-7 days a week, some camps run another 6-8k in the afternoon before the evening session, these runs are before bag work, pad work, sparring, clinching etc.. Brutal training tbh and as a "lazy" foreigner I used to skip a lot of the running but watching them as professional athletes it was no sprinting or modern training and S&C that people do in the west . Steady state cardio, push ups pull ups etc to build up the aerobic engine.

      Thanks Steve. Consistency wins every day in my book! It doesn't get easier I just get faster and run longer...LOL

    To add to my comment, I think that a lot of people who use their 180-age number to train and aren’t improving or are unhappy with MAF should consider establishing zones based on max heart rate and try that for a while, keeping it at an 80/20 or 90/10 effort every week.

    Great video Dave. I love Maffatone! Ran 4 miles this morning. Still struggle with consistency and insomnia but will keep pushing thru. Glad the Mrs is doing well and on the mend.

      Glad you liked it Fred!!! It took sometime to put it all together and after missing last week and ALMOST TODAY ( I lost the file after I exported it from my video editor). I wanted to change a few things but I would have had to start all over and NO WAY that was going to happen. I've put so many hours into the editing that I started to tear up at 1:00am when that happened.

    Very interesting Dave. It’s fun to experiment to try out new ways to do heart rate training. As the saying goes, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. Did you do a field test to determine your max heart rate to establish your zones?

    • @ThePlantPoweredRunner
      @ThePlantPoweredRunner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I like to try new things and see what happens. I did one and was happy with how it went. I might make a video on it to show others what I did.

    Something that could help you out to do more intense exercise is seeing the benefits of it, i would put down the link of the video but YT detect comments with links as spam so this is the title; "The Longevity & Brain Benefits of Vigorous Exercise | Dr. Rhonda Patrick" the video is separated in sections so you can look what most interests you.
    Keep it up with those videos mate!

    I'm getting 10,000 steps in a day. It may not seem like much, but I haven't been doing too much of anything lately and for this month I am getting my steps in through walking and running.

    Awesome Dave! What an accomplishment! I'm personally not a fan of running a minimum distance every day (I injure myself always wanting more). I'm a huge fan of training the way you want to train. Even if it's "sub-optimal." It could be a way of training for optimal enjoyment! Keep going and stay healthy!

    Nice try, but don´t forget the rest days! You can do this for a few weeks but with your long term goal ahead, this is probably not the way to do it. But as long as you don´t get injured, have fun!

      @@ThePlantPoweredRunner I sort of agree, those days you really felt crappy might have been from lack of recovery versus what you ate the night before. I like to get out there too and on my rest days I will still walk fast for recovery.

    Good to see you firing on all cylinders Dave. Habit is awesome for consistency and consistency is the secret to improvement. A friend has just celebrated a 1000 day run streak, that is some habit! His shortest run was 4k. Keep going but maybe allow yourself the option of running shorter some days. Looking forward to the next video.

    That's a good video Dave ! I can see how it took along time. Last year I did the november calendar run, everyday whatever the calender said in km. It was easy say day 1 to 10, 11 to 20 started getting tough, but guess what? Day 20 to 30 became okay, body adapted even though I added another km per day. I didn't think it would go like that. So, I think you should keep going but at some point, take a day off 😂

    I was running today but I was able to sustain 134 to 144 without stopping ,,,,,,I’m currently working with a tri Athlon he sends wk outs to me ,I guess they’re all relevant,,,it’s a bit costly 80£ a month but it’s really good ,,it goes to my watch and I do interval ,tempo etc runs ,also I’m getting swimming,cycling relative wk outs ,,,u should look at this type of idea it’s brilliant

    • @BobBob-uv9fq
      @BobBob-uv9fq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      U could even use the coach I use / I don’t have any vested interest,he has sent wk outs free to me to c what I think,there’s no intial commitment and it is pretty exciting

      Every session I’m doing is tailored to getting better ,,, ,you should get a pro on board ,,,,,the guy I got so far has been great ,,,,if u want I can give u details ,,,,,,so far he’s given me a week with no payment? U should try there’s no commitment , hope u don’t think,it’s a ponzie scheme
