Your ability to work the EQ is great; this tone is great. It captures the vibe and feel of an archtop with the reduced sustain and woodier, quicker attack - more Jimmy Raney and Tal Farlow, less modern. It’s great! Thanks for posting.
@@mel_163 I was actually trying to nail down the modern guitar design, which came to be during the romantic period. Baroque could be more accurate if you're more liberal with your definition of "guitar" and that's almost what I went with lol
Very nice! Now i'm part of the Jazzmaster Jazz Sound Club ;-) I have never seen nylon tape strings before on a jazzmaster. Do you combine bass strings with guitar strings?
Thanks for watching! No, not a bass string. This is Fender Nylon Tape Wound for Guitar. I was able to buy a few NOS sets from Ebay. But there are also new ones from La Bella or Pyramid and you can buy them.
Do the E A D strings feel floppy in tension compared to steel Chromes or TIs? I tried the La Bella white tapes, but the tension felt too loose on low strings I went back to Chromes and TIs steel. Sounds great. Thank you!
Yes, that's right. I looked at the inside of the Fender strings and measured the thickness. G (30): Plain 17 D (44): Roundwound 28 A (50): 38w E (60): 48w
The labellla black tapewounds feel a lot like the TI Swing 12s in terms of tension. (Can’t speak to fenders tapewound) Probably a good choice on a solid like this but too limp for an archtop for my purposes and preferences. Ymmv
