Does anyone remember how organized and EPIC Carnival use to be? So organized, with all the bands and costumes neatly one after the other.
They would take to the road with thousands of people watching. Then the bands would lead to where the judges were seated and ready to judge costume and such.
What happen to carnival now? It use to be so beautiful, what happen?

@@eliling9841, yes you are right. I did some research asked a few people as well. Some other islands are not doing it as well any more. They have lost the order. Bit Teinidad still has it going g on.
Trinidad has priced itself out that's why you're not seeing the crowds "you used to".
Spending a week there for carnival even if you exclude the flight costs will run at least 4000 US for a country thats not even touristy to begin with. You have to find accommodations that are limited already, there are only a handful of hotels and the odd Airbnb. Imagine the Marriott or Hilton will run you at least $700 us a night for a minimum 4 or 5 night stay. Then you have to hire a driver for the duration of your stay. Attending like say 3 Fetes will run you another at least $500. Then mas itself is at least $300 US for a small band. Imagine some mas bands have certain sections over $700 or even more for costumes. And without a costume??? Carnival on the road is non existent for those who can't afford such prices.
Most are fixated on squeezing every dollar they can outta visitors.
Of course Trinis are gonna use the "HYMC" type slang lol.
I mean look at the videos of the road there doesn't seem to be any energy at all....just ah bunch of people "hanging out on the block".

@@FuShengAlex All what you have said makes much more sense to me. I get it now. And, true to energy level and excitement is not as it use to be. Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Lucia has lost the vibe as it use to have. It's sad because Carnival use to be such a huge and exciting thing. Where are the floats??? They don't even do that any more.
@@pitime4764 Part of it is also not Trinidad or other islands' faults. The energy level/excitement is also not the same because there are only so many times you can experience such events/carnivals before it becomes "the same ol" and it becomes repetitive.
I live in Toronto which is a Caribbean hotbed with Caribana Soca/carnival culture is year round here. When I went to trinidad carnival for the first time years ago I thought I was gonna experience something radically different. But i found....it's just more of the same crowd/vibe we have here year round here. Then you go to Brooklyn for Labor Day....then you go to Miami. All the same artists/promoters/bandleaders/acts.
But the Trinidad experience charges (imho) an unjustifiablly exorbitant amount to partake vs other destinations.

Always wanted to go to Trinidad Carnival but so far formerly known West Indies festival now Carribbean Carnival in Brooklyn New York seems to have better creative costumes , and organization still hoping to.be proven wrong.
Tomorrow is when they wear their full costume and each band is sectioned off with it's own security.
Labor day only have monday.... in the caribbean Theres 2 days, monday is for regular tshirt... Tuesday is the Big Day for costumes, in the caribbean they don't mix tshirts band with costumes like in new york and miami carnival.

Brooklyn can never have a better show than Trinidad. We are the inventors of the carnival. Monday has become a day not to wear full costume. Maybe you should have watched the kings & queens show. Tuesday is when everyone comes out in full costume.
