I'm Building ALL OF Breath of the Wild in Minecraft (#1)

- You read the title right. I'm building the entirety of Hyrule in Minecraft. In this first episode, we'll be creating the actual map we'll be building on using world painter, before hopping into the map to build up the Great Plateau. I build some basic templates for things we'll need all across the map, such as the shrines and sheikah towers. And yes, this includes the guardians. After this, I spend the rest of the episode working on the Great Plateau, including the Temple of Time, Shrine of Resurrection, and more.

Seeing your guardian lists, you missed a chameleon one that shows up in the gerudo highlands. It's like your first one, but all dusty and camoflauged. It looks decayed and old until you approach and it activates. (Or until you point your camera at it and it reads it like "oh das a guardian stalker right der.")
Okay, found the second video first, then came back to this one to see if this question was addressed somewhere easy to find, so... do you plan to even attempt doing Shrine interiors underground? Sounds kinda daunting, but at least a lot of elements are copy/paste, and, due to the elevator transitions, you wouldn't have to build any diagonals you didn't want to. No idea if the space they take up could even all fit underground, but I know you could use a combination of debug light blocks, stained glass, stained glass panes, and some bright shade of stone or such as a backdrop to recreate the foggy ceiling expanse effect. ...Or, even barring going that far, since you said you'll do the Divine Beasts, will that include the 5th Divine Beast?
Suggestion: You should try using the light block that everyone forgot about, so that the shrines and temples and other things like that actually glow without compromising the design.

64 is the amount that you want though in creative you only need one, and 15 is the light level, 15 being the most light they can give, and 1 being the lowest. i think glow lichen are around a 1 or 2 on the scale.
I honestly never knew that the „lake“ on the plateau is actually its entrance, just flooded. Even after grinding this game for years, there is always something to learn about that masterpiece. You did an amazing job replicating it

There was this moment, at around 17:13, where I almost could only see breath of the wild and just forgot it was minecraft, and I think anything with that level of immersion is incredible. Well done!

It's insane how well BOTW is designed. Although everything is "low resolution" and blocky you can still see how iconic and recognisable the world is. And Grazzy did a great job conveying the BOTW feeling with all the details and work he put in, it's just amazing to watch.
When this gets finished I’d love to download this! This looks so good already!

As Palpatine once said: "We will watch your career with great interest!" This is a really cool concept, and I hope these videos get the recognition it deserves for a project of this scale and grandeur. When Minecraft first came out and I was still a teenager, I tried to recreate the Ocarina of Time map on a super flat world with no world edit, all by hand. I made the entire starting area of Kokiri Forest before giving up. I was a teenager with nothing but time on my hands and I was a little scarred by the grass placing noise to terraform. Watching this video made me remember the grand designs I once had and how maybe my flame of passion burned out as I grew older, got a job, and lived an adult life. Watching this video also made me consider rekindling that fire and trying my hand at World Edit myself. Overall, super cool video, I hope to see its completion!

After playing breath of the wild myself, i realize now why this is so impressive! Breath of the wild is one of the biggest open world maps I’ve ever seen and this video is AMAZING

I think you should build the "parts" dependend on the story of the game. I think the next chapter was Zora's Domain?
@@Cobytes thats sort of my plan, for example if people want to see goron city next, then I'll do all of Death Mountain and Vah Rudania with it. unless lots of people want to see a certain area next, ill probably just head in the natural direction the story leads, which in this case will be Kakariko and Hateno Village.

You should definitely make an underwater connection with the fairy fountains, with a little hub in the middle. I know its not in the game, but I've always wondered where the fairies go on their break. It would make a guys dream come true.
Sick idea, it would be cool to see some extra touches that aren’t in the game but make sense and line up with the zelda lore/timeline

However, I have noticed the lack of ONE thing in the Great Plateau. The Stone Talus in the forest. Of course, you don't have to add it, the build is already perfect as it is. I just thought I should let you know :)

I mean he would probably build it as it looks before the talus actually wakes up, which is just... a big rock. So not that impressive and probably not worth mentioning in comparison to how much work even a boko camp would take.

Dude i’m not even exaggerating, this is the sickest thing i’ve ever seen!! Like i can’t even imagine how many hours you put into this, it’s impressive as hell, and it’s sooooo beautiful!!
This is freaking amazing! I can't wait to see the rest. Speaking of the rest, I had an idea of how you could structure the series. You could tackle it in the way the story progresses. After the Great Platue, the story has the player go to kakoriko village, so build that next. Then maybe do an episode detailing some small stuff, like stables, monster camps, ruins, etc. Then you could go onto one of the places the Devine Beasts call home. Lets use Zora's Domain as an example. You could do an episode detailing the domain itself, then do another episode going over the divine beast. you could also throw in a few vids here and there during the series where you make important locations that don't really pertain to the story all that much. Think Terry Town, Akkala, Eventide Island, the laybrinths, etc. I hope this helps and once again amazing job!
Sounds great…until he realizes he got distances wrong… I’d recommend he just starts spreading out from the Great Plateau.
@@Dark_Mishra Yep I was thinking the same thing. It would be a great letdown to have this all unplayable (who knows maybe I’ll make a mod adding botw monsters to this or something) because you can walk across a huge distance in like 5 seconds
Maybe try the standard way from the game for the order of the parts:
- great plateau
- dueling peaks + stable
- kakariko
- hateno
- zora's domain
- death mountain
- etc..
This game isn't linear, you can do anything in any order you want.

@Zack I meant the order in which the game tries to guide you. like when the king says go to impa and she tells you to visit the hateno lab. the game secretly has a relatively linear path

I actually really like your building style, how you build the finished building first, then turn it into ruins. I don't know, it just makes it end up feeling like it decayed more naturally.
On the great plateau, most of the hills aren’t jagged but instead smooth. You can simulate the extra hill features (and variation) by adding the moss block next to every grass block that you can see the dirt sections of (so it looks smoother like in game)

To change up the birch trees, I would say just to switch the leaves to Azalea leaves, they're closer to the original color 👌
Also I hope you remember all of the Bee Hives (one in the birch forest and one next to a Boko camp near the Old Man's hut
now imagine building a mod that implements all the things from botw, like the paraglider, the cooking mechanic, all the mobs. gannon boss fights. items. shrines, spirit orbs, some of the quest lines etc.
It would be a massive undertaking. but it would be really cool!
Minecraft would be fun, at that point.
at that point I have to wonder why you wouldn't just play Breath of the Wild
My dream for this map actually goes in the other direction. Imagine if you were able to implement the caves and structures from regular worldgen into this map and play it like survival minecraft, but in a world that actually mimics real geography and has all these cool locations. Kinda like the Dragon Quest Builders series
theres is already a mod that implements some of these things, it's called paraglider if im not wrong
@@lennarias1344 yeah and it has a stamina wheel, its a fun mod, you can also use the waystones mod for shrines and towers to teleport to them

THIS IS INCREDIBLE. my favorite game is botw, and although i don’t really play minecraft, i love seeing hyrule recreated faithful. i think you should do the map in the order you sort of expierience it in game. like do dueling peaks and kakariko and hateno next

Although… well for some small amount of constructive criticism, The great plateau feels incredibly short compared to what it should be, I remember climbing up those walls. It was not pleasant. So maybe you could increase the height of a place and rat just be about it, otherwise it’s great.

i guess that is caused by worldpainter itself.. it does not really support extended world height yet, so you are limited to 255 blocks of height
This is simply beautiful... just like BoTW, the curves of the Meadows, the cute little lilies and the temples, slowly getting overtaken by nature itself. This recreation is nothing short of a work of art.
I swear Ive been looking up this title since botw came out. Seeing my favorite game being remade in my other favorite game is just so satisfying to watch and explore. I havent searched up this title in a while, cause I honestly didn’t expect someone to actually ever recreate the world to this extent. Botw and minecraft are two of my favorite games. Botw provided me with an immense amount of peace and relief during my knee surgery recovery which was absolutely grueling to go through for me and botw was my main relief and emotional support (ik it’s just a game but it feels so much more than that). I love this content! keep up the amazing work my guy. You have no idea how amazing it was to watch.
Seeing how the Great Plateau turned out and seeing how much I recognized it put just the biggest smile on my face, I adore seeing people recreate things like this in Minecraft. Very excited to see the full thing!! Something I recommend is that for the Sheikah towers, maybe have some way to climb them that blends in with the design (like vines or ladders). I think it'd be pretty damn cool. Keep up the awesome work man and good luck with all this!!

Good luck on the other regions, since this is the smallest region of them all (although you have many templates now already). I'm looking forward to each of the races' domains/cities. Would it be possible to add an underground area in the Castle with Calamity Ganon and an actual Dark Beast Ganon in Hyrule Field for the last episode?

A Half flooded Hyrule with Hyrule Field being sunken actually looks really cool
This build was spot on except for a tiny little thing, I am not sure if you got it but there is a tiny bokoblin camp on the cliff above the entrance to the shrine of ressurection
This looks so good so far, I’d also like you to know that there’s another type of guardian. A decayed but not deactivated guardian with no legs. There is also the sky-based guardians but those are pretty tough.
As a Breath of the Wild fan seeing everything recreated in Minecraft is just so hilarious and nostalgic. Compared to the actual game Grazzy did a fantastic job, in my opinion. I can't wait to see how everything turns out in other videos!

This brought a tear to my eye. For being Minecraft, this was amazingly done, and then when the opening music to the game played, all of the memories of my first play through came flooding back. Well done.
I think a really neat idea is to put a Nether portal in each shrine and then build each shrine within the Nether, since there won’t be any confines with the world size in the Overworld. Of course, that’d be optional, you’re already working hard on the world in general

Coming back to this after TotK’s release. I really hope one day you can expand this build with the Sky and Depths, though I’m not holding my breath (of the wild).

Another crazy thing to build would be the entirety of skyrim in Minecraft. Including dungeons, he’ll just make all of nirn, cyrodil morrowind Skyrim ect. Now that would be amazing to just look at every thing
While yes, the temple of time is out of scale compared to how it is in botw, I love seeing it loom in the distance in all the shots, it looks awesome

I think the best plan of action, as I love both minecraft and BotW, it should be in the main flow of Zelda's gameplay: GP -> Dueling Peaks + Kakariko -> Lanayru/Zora's Domain -> Death Mountain -> Rito Village -> Korok Forest -> Gerudo -> endgame central hyrule + castle. Of course with filler episodes in between. Im so excited to see this play out!!

The only noticeable thing I spotted that was inaccurate was the stump surrounded by mud that held the korok, that new mud block might come in handy for those pits across the map
You should see this world with the distant horizons mod when you're done, I think it will look amazing! I haven't seen many shaders working with the mod however.

The Song of Storms in the background when you were building the Temple of Time brings back so many memories
Awesome job! This reminds me of when I attempted to make Twilight Princess in minecraft, but since it was console there was no world edit or world painter. One thing that, if I may recommend, is to try to play around with perspective a bit. Yeah, the map that generated is the most correct--but for it to look right with the mountain tops, elevating those to a higher level will help you achieve a more true to game feel.steep cliffs at the base of the icy area, even if it's only an elevation increase of ~10 blocks will help

I will always remember the breath of the wild music when you step out of the shrin of resurrection as the first zelda game I ever played
So I beat botw only about a year ago now, and I was regularly playing it a few months ago, but this made feel nostalgic in some ways. Hearing the korok forest song reminded me of when I first discovered it, and how I spent so much time trying to get to it, and how cool it was to see the sword in the center. I previously had no interest in the Zelda games. My dad got me botw as a gift. I wasn’t so sure but he encouraged me to play it, and I was immediately captivated. Even after you beat the game, there’s still so much to do. Shrines, koroks, other secrets, even exploring. After 2 and a half years of playing, I still find new things. This game is definitely one of the best games, if not the best game I have ever played. Words cannot express my adoration for this game.

This is an amazing build and you really have a remarkable talent, I am really looking forward to the next episode but in the next episode maybe you could add the Stone Talus to the Great Plateau? It may be a nitpick but it would add even more life and imersion to the world.
