  • PBSL Group explain the main differences between the various types of polycarbonate sheets and bars.
    We stock polycarbonate sheets in a variety of colours, including clear, bronze, opal, bronze opal and heat guard opal. We also stock a variety of sizes, ranging from 10mm to 35mm.
    We also stock 2 types of bars for supporting the polycarbonate sheets. One is the timber supported system which supports 10mm - 25mm sheets and the other is the self-supporting system which supports 16mm - 35mm. You can view these bars in the video.
    We sell polycarbonate sheets as full sheets or we can cut them to size, whichever you prefer. They can be purchased from our website here: www.pvccladding.com/polycarbo...

    Wow! I have been selling and installing polycarbonate on greenhouses in the US since 1993. I never heard of the bronze / opal option. I am sure that there are a lot of places where this would be a good fit. I agree that people find installing polycarbonate a daunting proposition. It really isn't all that difficult if you just follow a few basic steps. Thanks for the great and information video. Tammy

    I'm planning a new roof for my conservatory and intend to use 25mm Opal HeatGuard.
    You mention Opal HeatGuard is good at keeping the warmth in during the winter but will it reflect the summer sunlight heat to prevent it from turning the conservatory into an oven?
    I intend to fit an opening skylight in one of the roof panels.

    • @PBSLGroup
      @PBSLGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Yes, you are correct. The Opal HeatGuard finish ensures good reflection of UV rays on warmer days to prevent overheating. You can read further info on the options or make an order here: www.pvccladding.com/multiwall-polycarbonate-sheets-35mm-solarguard-c-1382/

    Would there be a reduction in solar heat penetration using double or tripple wall? I understand the thermal effects retaining heat but am concerned about a possible reduction in solar heat.

    Thanks for your informative video, very helpful. We are replacing our 20 year old conservatory polysheets they measure 726x2388x16. We intend to use the existing glazing bars. Could you tell me which of your polysheets and end caps we should use please and any thing else we might need to consider replacing ? Many thanks

    • @PBSLGroup
      @PBSLGroup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for your enquiry.
      You will need to use our 16mm thick sheets, available in bronze, clear or opal. The nearest size would be our 800mm x 3m size, you can then trim these to size using a jigsaw. We do also offer a cut to size option for an additional charge, if you would like a quote for this please contact sales@pvccladding.com.
      Regarding other trims and end caps etc. this is more complex, as they will need to fit to the specification of your existing bars. We would suggest taking extra care when taking these trims off as it can be quite difficult to find replacement items to match existing bar systems. Our sheet end trims and anti-dust tape can be used as these are relevant to the sheet size rather than the glazing bars.

    Can the glazing bar cap be removed again if in 10 years i have to replace the polycarbonate alone.

    • @PBSLGroup
      @PBSLGroup  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John, thanks for your question. Yes, it can be removed but like any component system, the longer you leave it, the harder it will be to do. It's not really designed to be taken apart so there's no guarantee of the strength of the seal once put back together.

      Hi, thanks for your question. Structured wall polycarbonate sheets are not meant to be loadbearing so unfortunately we would advise against this.

    Do you have a system for Hip roofs?

    • @PBSLGroup
      @PBSLGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robert, thanks for your comment.
      We don’t supply hip bars as standard, as these are more of a conservatory roof kit item. We would suggest that a local window or conservatory fabricator could probably cut the end of the bar to work in a hip scenario for a relatively small charge.

    • @PBSLGroup
      @PBSLGroup  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@azentioced9 Unfortunately multiwall polycarbonate does not bend in this way, as the structural rigidity will be compromised if the sheet is not laid flat. We believe that Acrylic or thin sheet solid polycarbonate would be better suited to your application. Best of luck with your project!

      Ours was up nearer 15 years before it leaked, and it was a bit of a bodge job by the previous owner to start with so nearly 15 years isn't bad. Although it went from clear to dark before it leaked and it wasn't this clearly better quality type in the video.
