    In this video, I went to Ventura County to meet up with Alik Shulman to take a tour of his dragon fruit farm named Shulman Dragon Fruit Orchard. He was so kind to take me around his dragon fruit orchard and also his gardens at home, where he also grew dragon fruits alongside his farm. We harvested all the dragon fruits that were available and it was so cool to see his operation and chatting it up with him. Found out he offers free tours for the public as well.

    Thank you Richard for sharing Alik's orchard with us. I have received many varieties from Alik in the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, where I lost all my collection to a severe cold front. I potted and rooted everyone of his cutting and now are over 6-7 feet tall and growing like weeds. Again Thank you Richard and Alik for all of the information you share with us all.

    Hi Ricard, i am very new for dragon fruit. Just fell in love. Living at UK not weather for them there. But i am mad enough to try them to grow from seeds what i took from superstore fruit.
    First attempt was died because if cold. But i tested yellow variety and oh, i must have them. I did try many tit until they sprouted.
    Now i having small little once. I do want them to grow for cuttings and take them to Africa where us weather much better for them. Do its ok to growe them as they go and then cut from mother plant for cuttings. Just much easier to pack them for transfer.

    How do you deal with rotten wood after many years and hundred of pounds of branches over it? Wood is easier to cut and build but I will do metal from old fence post. Last forever and. not worry about rust as it is galvanized. Of course i have a welder and know how to weld. I prefer metal over wood for rigidity and longevity. Pvc is a NO NO.

    • @NatureWithAlik

When I got it it’s still quite green but very very thin almost as if it’s completely dried up, the fins are not even 1/8th thick. Just wondering if it’s too far gone and if there’s still hope. Dragonfruit can go a pretty long time without water. While they like water more often than regular cactus, it's still a cactus. A week and a half isn't that long. Just don't stick it out in full sun right away. Part shade, baby it a bit.

      They prefer sandy, very well draining soil. How cold does it get in winter where you are? It's a tropical plant.

      @GraftingDragonFruit  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can definitely plant them as long as you're able to maintain the soil and conditions to what they require

    How often do you water?

    • @NatureWithAlik
      @NatureWithAlik 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Once a week 1/2 gal per plant when hot over 85. Use mulch and umbrellas to cool them down and keep moisture.

    • @GraftingDragonFruit

      It just depends on the soil and weather.
