Atom Eve is one of the most powerful characters in the Invincibleverse, and also one of the most empathetic, kind-hearted, and genuine characters of the series. She’s amazing!

23:46 In her comics right after this scene here, Atom Eve says with tears in her eyes: "For one moment I had the power. I could have fixed it. ..I could have brought you back. But I used it for revenge instead. ..I'm sorry mom and dad. ..I love you." Maybe the could have kept those lines, for an even greater impact.
Also, as her last standing brother dissolves, he says (in her comics) "...They don't care about us now. ..Now they have you. ..Goodbye, Eve." right before he disintegrates. Maybe they could have kept that line as well.
Damn. I really enjoyed this episode, but both of those scenes felt a little off to me and these lines perfectly explain what I was feeling. Another scene that gave me a similar feeling was when Sam immediately turns bloodthirsty on her siblings upon finding out they exist - is that explained or patched by a missing line present in the comics, or was Sam just temporarily slightly evil for a few minutes?
@@genegray9895 Their fight is a bit different in the comics, I think it was in-doors and not on a street. They also changed the dialogue quite a bit but I don't remember most of it of the top of my head.
My guess is that they plan to have something like this happen later on down the line for Eve instead of at this moment
This special really made me appreciate Adam Eve more than I already did watching Season 1 of Invincible, as her story is tragic, and honestly, seeing her be so empathetic, sweet and genuine person makes her one of my favourite characters in Invincible. She's just an incredible character. The animation in this special is probably some of the best in the entire series. Can't wait for you to catch up and check out Season 2. BTW, Lance Reddick voiced Erikson, and it sadly was one of his last performances before he tragically passed away. May he rest in peace; he was a legendary actor.
This special is a great depiction of how sibling rivalries are often created by the parents. When a child is gifted, the other siblings are constantly compared to them. It gets to a point where no matter what the other siblings do, they can never measure up to the gifted child, who is pretty much the favorite. This eventually leads to the other siblings directing their anger towards the favorite child even though it's not the childs fault. That's why I felt sad for Phases 1-5, because they're all just children in the exact same situation.
After watching HBO's Barry, I could recognize Steven Root's voice anywhere, And Lance Reddick (RIP) had that EPIC, Sultry deep voice 🥺👏🏽🥳
If you take out the superpowers, Eve's family life is basically that of an undiagnosed autist and a family who don't understand their needs. It's extra tragic. I wish Eve had better parents.
Really glad they did this episode to give Eve extended time for her origins (and to tie fans over at the time for Season 2 lol)
Notable parts for me:
- Lizard Queen and Lizard Prince’s situation makes me think this is what would have happened if Nolan had been honest with Mark when he was a child and tried raising Mark as a proper Viltrumite from the start (probably with less passive aggressiveness and more domestic abuse if Mark messed up)
- Personally my favorite character of the episode was the babysitter. He was supportive of Eve and found a fun activity to keep her engaged/happy while simultaneously helping himself study.
- It was heartbreaking but I like how Eve comforted her final sibling as he died. The new photo is sweet too.
- Loved that bonus scene of Nolan wrestling with his Viltrumite ideals and the emotions he’d developed for his “pet” and child
Knowing what I know from the comics, I hope we get similar episodes for Rex and Cecil.
Minor spoiler: Turns out that the food Eve makes is actually made from her. Eve uses the molecules and nutritions from her own body to manifest the food, so Eve is basically eating herself.
Atom Eve is very much like a scaled down version of Marvel's Owen Reece "The Molecule Man". She even has his psychological blocks of not being able to alter animal life. He later lost those mental blocks, becoming one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Multiverse.
At the end we she created the picture of her, mother, the doctor, and all of siblings then said it’s the only family she has…wow. 😢She had gone through so much trauma from the circumstances from which she born to all throughout her childhood.
Fun fact: the voice actor for Brandyworth was also the kind hobo from season 1 of Korra!
Not gonna lie, Atom Eve is one of my teen superhero crushes like X-23, America Chavez, and Kate Bishop from Marvel and Mary Marvel Supergirl, Batgirl, and Starfire from DC even though this show is not Marvel or DC related.

the eve special makes her supremely adept, confident and frankly OP from a very young age, but somewhat inconsistent with the eve that we're introduced to in the second episode of season 1, who tells mark: "everyone freezes their first time. i used to throw up before every fight. barf my guts out. like a fire hydrant. you'll get used to it -- the fights, not the barfing."
Not gonna lie, she’s the best version of green latter in my opinion

I've re-watched this so many times, questioned why the cars never slowed down each time. But this time, something else hit me: when were we gonna get that perimeter formed by the cops?

This made me understand why atom eve's parents are strict as hell, they thought they almost lost their child and when they thought their child was saved, they want to take the safe route of having a child that has a normal life close to them

Fun Fact: It seemed like you didn't remember him, but that first villain she fights, with the robot arm, is the same first villain that Invincible fights... that guy apparently has a tough break with op kid heroes' finding him lol

It really is such a great Special, gives us hope for more of these for other characters. Just like with the scene of Mark telling Nolan he would still have him after 500 years, I cannot watch the scene with Eve embracing her brother has he dies and the scene where she transforms the family photo with crying.
She literally has the worst dad ever 😢

Atom Eve really is "special", she's in the spectrum. Usually, people with autism greatly excel in like one field making them a genius but don't do well with the other fields (like her dad said, "there are subjects other than science").
People around them usually don't understand them or their special needs. They call them weirdo or freak. Her dad don't even want to bring up her "weirdness" around other people, and even tho her mom is on her side, she's just shrugging it off as maybe Eve is just too smart, never addressing it for what it is. Autism is still quite a sensitive subject to deal with irl.

The bit with the cop was lifted straight from The Avengers. Love the show, but it borrows heavily from so many other things.
Im tired of people giving the mom a pass just cause shes "nice" shes an enabler that allows her husband to insult their daughter and never tells him off from being an asshole. She has no spine and would rather let her underage daughter try and talk sense into her husband, and for what reason?
Amazon prime people aren't releasing 2nd part to season 2 anytime soon. It is really sad and annoying. Hopefully they don't do this with The Boys or else prime sub cancel.

Crazy thing about this show is people will FLIP OUT over Samantha’s dad. Say he’s a horrible person and a terrible father, etc, etc. and then say “aww, but Nolan can’t be that bad because he really does care about mark.” Pretty irritating

I enjoyed watching this special more than Invincible plus the Guardians were in top form.
