I've lived in CN for 6 years.. CN Dub usually speaks clearer in media and games, but in conversation, they will speak faster and depending on who you're talking with.. Teacher will speak slower and clearer like Wukong, while others will use their accent and speed.. The EN is like how you watch weeb meme videos though it has its own charm..

I think the Eng dub is more breathy, not as firm and stable, which is what makes him more like a sneaky antagonist than an upright protagonist in the Chinese dub.
@@Zminator1986can’t be. He is fairly old now. Plus, the voice is definitely not him, although alike. I watched that show for at least 7 times, I know exactly how he sounds.
In ancient China, there was a tridition of exchanging harsh words with each other before fighting. So Yang said to level the mountain, while Wukong said to slaughter the Court. They both sounds like villain.
not really. The game was mostly developed on UE4 and then basically ported to UE5 during the last two development years. That means they were well past the point to include some UE5 features without redoing a lot of work. For a game that isn't really heavy on dialog I guess it just wasn't worth the effort.
Always keep a game on it's original language settings, you take away cultural experience by changing it, even if you don't understand, it doesn't matter, the only excuse you could have is that you must change it is because you're either deaf or blind, So Chineese for Wukong, Japanese for Sekiro, English from England for BB, French for Lies of P, nobody knows for Elden Ring,
The English version displays that they know each other for a while, the Chinese version shows that they know each other for centuries. You know when they talk in a way that it is an “ancient” acquaintance beyond love and hate brotherhood.
Other than the voice actors, the script in Chinese has a lot of nuances that’s difficult to translate. For example, the Monkey King refers to himself as an elder. Yang Jian (aka God ”Er Lang”) has an all seeing eye on his forehead (his third eye).
Personally i think they did an amazing job of translating over philosophical concepts in Chinese. Being a chinese speaker myself i often struggled to translate these ideologies into clear concise english but they did marvellous 😊
wukong's original form is a monkey, he is childish, loves screaming, is pure, and dares to say no to the evil forces, so he will fight with the people in the sky. If you were expecting a Superman voice, I don't think it fits the character
@ni06no it has nothing to do with if people know Chinese or not the argument is witch va sounds better and obviously the Chinese va sounds Superior given the Fact that games in the east tend to have va's From their own country to put more heart and soul into their works, versus the dubbed that we get over here in the west
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the voice acting. The menu and item description localization could have been a bit better though, some things are confusing. But the game is fantastic.
I really liked the opening scene where the 2 Fox guys walk up to the peach sitting on the ground, the way they spoke over each other like 2 cackling hyenas was cool
I dont think you can get the lip sync good in english. It looks like it was clearly animated for chinese lip movements, and I assume they'd need to drastically overhaul all the speech animations.
This whole finale part was so damn beautiful. I didn’t expect this game to have a story so amazing but man this game’s story blew me away. It may win GOTY this year, but I think this is a game of the decade.
Tbh, there is no way people can 100% understand the beauty of this game if they don’t understand Chinese. There are so much culture stuff like beautiful poems, and songs in the game. The story and lines hidden, the links between characters are so complicated that I’m pretty sure most people didn’t get half of what the story is actually about.
@@absolute.1143In fact, the Chinese are impatient to use this game to teach Westerners or show off their culture to Westerners, because rural people rarely have such opportunities. I am a Hong Konger. It can be said that from what I know, many Chinese people even misunderstand that Journey to the West is a Buddhist work. As a man who speaks English, I definitely find the Chinese voice acting to be superior. I watch and play everything in respective language. English VA is not bad but the Chinese VA’s killed it here. No comparison
My issue with games like this is that if I want to play it in CN I'm going to be missing out on some dialogue. For example when you happen upon wolves in the first forest they all talk, but in CN I don't get subtitles so to me they're just saying stuff.

The English dub actually isn’t bad! They matched the overall tone and mischievousness you would expect from Wukong. I actually like both versions a lot.
Their pretty good, i also like that the english voice actor is trying to emulate the pitch voice sound from the chinese actor for wukong so its trying to stay kinda consistent in both. Something i dont see much when they do a dub from japanese to english when a character voice is high pitch in the japanese while in the english they give the same character a deep voice for no reason. I appreciate the effort for consistency a lot.👍👍
rare case where english dub actually tries to do a good job. Those arrogant assholes often just do whatever the fuck they want. Just look at all the anime dubbing they have done over the decades, they take it upon themselves to change complete sentences for no reason. America should be banned from dubbing.
On a somewhat unrelated note, Sean Schemmel’s portrayal of Sun Wukong in the LEGO Monkie Kid animated series was an amazing take on the character. Carefree, silly, and cocky in general, but stone cold and dead serious when the situation caps for it. It also helped that his voice direction was essentially: just be Goku.
I’d definitely go with the Chinese one but I just can’t sacrifice the dramatic things happening on screen just by focusing on the subtitles. Which is why personally I’d go with English
@@123nicanorAre you a 1st grader? Your insults are too infantile to have any intelligence. Did you watch the clip? White text on white background is a terrible implementation of subtitles.
I agree. Normally with movies I can’t stand dubbed versions but it’s not that bad here and as someone with no knowledge of the story it’s very hard to comprehend a lot of it when taking eyes off the visuals and adding another task for my brain. Mainly during combat only. Also, the journal entries are a must if you really want to understand what’s happening. It makes it all so much more engaging and I never read journal entries.

Very true. Chinese version sounds like a real conversation, not just a cheesy line

On a somewhat unrelated note, Sean Schemmel’s portrayal of Sun Wukong in the LEGO Monkie Kid animated series was an amazing take on the character.
