In terms of attendance, BYU is a Texas/Oklahoma type of program. West Virginia, Ok State and Utah are close in Football. KSU, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, and Iowa State are in basketball.
I wouldn't go that far with BYU being Texas level in attendance. Y'all are solid but it's not 100k.
Also you forgot Texas Tech in the top of the Big 12 for brand size.
Iowa State, BYU, West Virginia and Tech are all in their own tier, then it's K-State, Ok State, Utah, then Baylor TCU, Kansas UCF types.😊
@@dariusrucker7854 - BYU brought $76.4 million net TV/media revenue per Jim Williams, media analyst for ESPN and Fox. Yes BYU was the replacement for take your pick, Texas or Oklahoma. When I wrote that, it was about the fact that BYUs international fan base, large packed venues and 50 year tradition in Football really does exceed each of all the existing Big12 teams in terms of awards, victories, etc. Remove the awards and only BYU and Colorado have Nattys. Attendance wise BYU, Iowa St, Ok State and WVa are all very similarly successful venues. BYU and Kansas top the nation in Basketball attendance. BYU is a perennially ranked program in volleyball, soccer and rugby. I was not attempting to offend the people of Lubbock. But because most of those Midwest programs are tied to mainly local fan bases, it was important to bring a program into the league that puts eyes on all teams whenever and wherever BYU plays.
In the long run, the entire Big 12 was lifted to the tune of $4 million/year because BYU was added. But more important, every Big12 team will get exposure through BYUs deep roots world-wide in Europe, Africa, Asia, Polynesia, South and Central America. That's something even Oklahoma and Texas could not do.
@@dariusrucker7854 It's hard for a lot of people to grasp that a school that has 60k attending football games is still a D1 football stadium smaller than UT. But BYU does have an incredible fanbase.

In terms of OOC play. The P4 conferences are fairly equal. And the losses aren’t looking as bad as they were at that time. UNLV WSU Pitt Illini Penn St Nebraska. UH losing only 16-12 at OU and they very well could’ve won if they even had something resembling an offense 😂. The only loss resembling an embarrassment is SMU over TCU. And they may be pretty good. All the other conferences have had an embarrassing loss or 2. JMU is a great team don’t get me wrong but the way they handled UNC should be an embarrassment in Chapel Hill. How about Michigan struggling v ArK st barely winning and the same team gets waxed at ISU. Toledo handing MIss St their head on their home turf to boot. There’s other examples. Point being, yes we may have the most losses OOC. But none are embarrassing. As the season is shaping up now. Only game left is UCF v Florida. Important game hope they can pull it out. The XII deserves more respect than this crap I’m Hearing and reading. Do these people even know football at all. All the sec and Big10 is, is a brand to me. Cooperate and greedy. There is not ANY team in the current Big XII that could challenge for the SEC in football.
Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Ole Miss currently are among the top six.
Utah tops the list for the Big XII. The Utes, newcomers to the Big XII, currently are ranked 10th.
In the SEC there is strength. In the Big XII there is parity. And parity equals mediocrity.
But keep pouring the kool-aid, Drake Troll. Your listeners are drinking it up.
Utah fan here. The Utes would not be able to contend for the SEC title. They'd win some games and maybe pull an upset or two, but there's no way they can compete with UT and Georgia.
I think the prevailing brand narrative has got the best of you. Preseason top 25 is biased at best because media companies who have invested so much does not want their investment in media rights to decline in market value. As media companies guarantee a certain amount for a conference for a period of time, the media company has to maintain a narrative in order to keep their advertisers and sponsors happy in their investment. Because, if things go bad for the SEC and/or Big 10, their media rights becomes a more difficult sell in the future.
