In my opinion, the dating ban is also a way to protect idols, even underage ones, from possibly getting taken advantage of or getting exploited. (Does anyone remember when Sohye from I.O.I. asked Sistar for advice and they told her 'Don't date'?)
it wasn’t just ‘don’t date’ older male idols have been known to take advantage and a$$ault young rookies, so yeah, replying to the first reply to ur comment, it DOES protect:)
Well from what I've gathered, the dating ban started from an idol getting murdered by his girlfriend. She became extremely jealous of the female attention he was getting and poisoned him out of pure possessiveness....so in a way, it is for their protection. I also hear a lot of controversy in kpop industry especially towards female idols of exploitation, blackmail, you name it. They can eventually date, it's just that they need to take precautions of the person they are showing interest in.
it's mostly to not upset delusional fans who hope to get together with their idol because they bring a lot of money. but a part of it is to avoid a mess if idols break up on bad terms and their exes start talking shit about them on social media and ruining their image
@@hs-ei that's can't be entirely true though bc a dating ban doesn't stop older males from still assaulting younger rookies behind closed doors. If anything, they keep it going because they want to keep the fans happy
I always felt that forcing idols to share a dorm was ridiculous & a recipe for disaster. They can live together when they’re on the road traveling- why stick them together 24/7? I feel like it must’ve caused soooo much tension & drama between idols. Makes me wonder how different of a dynamic we would’ve gotten had our idols not gone through the stresses of living in cramped quarters with 0 privacy.
In my opinion idols in Korea need to be treated like the celebrities in the United States especially if the idols are legal adults just because they're under contract it doesn't mean that an agency can tell an adult what to do and how to live at the end of the day it seems to me that the agency is only looking out for themselves because they want that sweet cash but in turn it's making the idol miserable, I mean if they want to have tattoos let them or if they want to drink let them or if they want to date let them they're adults 🤷
Respect the culture please, they are not US citizens. Imagine having 10 teenagers and every one of them can ruin the project that took years to bring to life. It's not a tv reality show, it's business.
Expect that we are talking about growing up ppl and not teenagers, because underage ppl not even should be on a stage singing and dancing. We are talking about adults who are humans too and deserve to have a life and life experiences. Otherwise this can start affect their mental health since they are not allow to be themselves.
You're kidding me, she was literally asked to raise the flag? Why was she the one getting harassed? Just to make it worse she was just a kid at the time as well..
It is because the of weird thing going on with Taiwan and mainland China. I don't think Tzuyu did anything wrong but she needed to apologise to keep her career in China. Chinese fans are profitable
As a die hard morning musume fan it feels surreal to think they have an influence on kpop :0 I think that would be a really fun video, Jpops influence on Kpop, and vise versa
According to living in the same room in the same dorm,i feel its a good rule you know as if you go to the hostels you will see a lot of students live in the same room, even when one of them is suffering from anxiety or feeling lonely they would have someone to talk to rather than staying alone in a room,i don't know why people make so much fuss over idols living in a same room when most of the students in India and in other countries too live in the same room in the hostels and Pg and i think this makes us more close rather whenever i stay alone i feel loneliness will eat me...
I think it depends on the group. For some it works and for some maybe not, especially if they don’t get along so well. But you are right, idols could get lonely quite fast. If there is a close bond in the group it will surely be helpful to be together. I think mostly younger idols will share rooms together. When they are older and successful they have their own rooms in a dorm.
The dating rule makes me the most sad for them of all the rules. They're human beings and should have the freedom to pursue love in addition to a career. I'd think there'd be some sort of middle ground between idols, partners, and companies where maybe the HOW of the relationship is somehow more monitored or something. That's still not great, but it's better than none at all maybe.
K-pop idols live together in a shared dormitory. This is often done to make it easier for the idols to coordinate their schedules, especially since they often have multiple activities, performances, and rehearsals (if pre-debut), to attend to in a single day. Living together allows them to arrive at their schedules together and start working right away, which can save time & make their schedules more efficient.

after witnessing hyuna and dawn, i understand why idols can’t date publicly like when u’re in love so cuddly, public displaying affection but when u broke up u delete all the photos together and all the following drama and it gets weird and messy.
I strongly disagree with the dorm life. I really don't think it would be too much of a problem if a trainee goes back and forth to their parents house and the practice room. It could even strength a sense of responsibility from their behalf, instead of forcing an aobligation upon them, as when you miss a day at school and you have to catch up on your own. Also, many trainees are super young and many times make rushed desitions about their future, like any other teenager, so staying close to their family could also help them make up their mind if they really want to become idols or if its just an impulse or heat of the moment.
it's better for the idols but not for the companies. it's much easier to organize, monitor and provide security to idols if they're living together. especially in the early years of their careers when there is a high chance of them messing up publicly. i mean idols often have managers with them when they go outside to do the simplest things. the companies only care about making money which includes idols being always ready to work and have their public image in-tact
I like the theory, but it has one problem. What about the idols who comes from an other city and sometimes from the other side of the country. They need a dorm and when a dorm already exist then would a company make themself more easy to put all members together.
I think this has to do with the culture in general. Remember America and the west are open minded on a lot of things while Korea is a traditional, conservative homogeneous country.

But all my memories of growing up are not of resenting him (of course children can’t take “no” for an answer & have many of these moments) but of living in a stable family with a good provider. Ask anyone who’s been robbed of these basic things what they’d prefer. Whether they realize it or not, imagine how isolated and alone they’d be if they didn’t at least have each other to bicker with. At a certain age you come to welcome being alone but they are nowhere near there at their age. It’s not like idols are able to just leave & go hang out with friends somewhere whenever they want. As for the dating /drinking rules, outside of requirements that are in violation of labour laws or considered dangerous…all jobs require employees to QUALIFY FOR THE JOB. No one forces them to take the job. If they don’t like/can’t meet the job requirements they can find another job.

It's look like K pop idol is doll and company is the owner it's because they sign contract when they so young then they have repentance when they start understanding the things
the companies only care about money so obviously anything that can get idols to lose fans = money is forbidden. also, the whole shaving head thing to shame girls for dating that was going on in Japan is crazy. it's like World War 2 reality when women who slept with the enemy got their heads shaved publicly and humiliated. even that was cruel because a lot of them were SAed and didn't have a choice but to do the same with idols for simply dating is crazy to me
I’m confused even though most of the idol accounts are probably runed by the company but when they make there personal accounts how comes they don’t follow other artists in Korea I know that some do but most of them don’t

2:48 yeah but isn't there a Japanese flag hanging down? why is tzuyu the only one getting hate? I live in America so i don't really know what's going on with the Asian countries. someone pls explain why only tzuyu got hate for holding her countries flag.
Basically it was because Tzuyu raised Taiwan's flag, thus making people think she's recognizing Taiwan as country. There's a constant battle between China and Taiwan as China claims Taiwan is Chinese territory but there are movements in Taiwan that have been looking for their independence from China This event wasn't well received by China and caused big controversy with many Chinese people accusing Tzuyu of treason and making Twice unable to promote on China. So, to prevent things to scalate bigger, sadly, Tzuyu was forced to apologize so it didn't affect more of her and Twice's activities
Of course they banned dating coz idol sell fantasy. Idol's job in Korea is to be a "replacement boyfriend" for teenage girls and busy working women. The same goes for female idols. This is why dating bans exist. If the idol isn't single, the fantasies of "boyfriend" are ruined. It's not healthy, but it's good business. This is why idol kpop is not a musician.
Kpop is so westernized now dont worry they will go wild than Pop stars after few years.... Also i will never understand why always fans are crtitized and shown in bad light do you think all these idols are saint they dont do any bad things they surely date they do whatever they want just they dont show it to their fans and you will never what these idols will think of their fans they might talk about us they might see us as money producing machines so stop bringing down fans who are geniune (expection toxic fans)...
It does not apply to Baekhyun of EXO. Because he starts twitter space when he wakes up and starts chatting with his fans randomly, like they are on the phone. He even sings for them and spoils their songs on space. He is Different.😂
In what way is it "dying"? The industry has only grown and grown, with so many groups now selling hundreds of thousands to millions of copies of albums each release.
@@caseyadams1861in terms of selling, yes they make tons of money (usually applicable to big groups from big companies), but kpop is dying in terms of social. Some small groups able to survive by using social media (thankfully).
In what universe is KPop dying? If anything, it has only grown in reach and. Influence. Do the letters BTS mean anything to you? Do the growing number of collaborations between Western entertainment companies, and major artists with prominent KPop artists and companies mean nothing to you? Your wishful thinking does not equal reality. And my opinion, it’s a good thing. KPop and Kdramas confer a great deal of soft power upon South Korea as a whole, just as American entertainment and culture does upon America on the world stage. These influences are economic drivers in no small way as well. The Korean pop music industry should “just disappear altogether”? Would you say that of American’s pop music industry? Just curious.
@@Vgudorf just because bts got popular doesn't mean the industry isn't dying. The industry was far on its way out before bts started its success story. Bts just help extend its expiration date. Idol music in korea has became increasingly unpopular, companys are fighting to make a quick buck rather then invest there time in the artist thus why the market is hella over saturated and while it seems kpop in the western rye is becoming popular and only now growing. Domesticly that couldn't be farther from the truth. And bts might have paved the way but nobody else in the fandom is making shure anyone walks on that path they created acting more like troll gates whenever another group starts to reach numbers though lately it seems the fandom finally caught up and are allowing others to finally pass the gate. Also i don't listen to american music outside of what has been wprldy reconises (but that's just a personal choice) but americas pop idol industry did die and it was benifical and actually opeand america up to more artist and the same could be said in korea as more and more indie artist are on the rise
@@dotdotdotdotdotdotdottod Okay, keep telling yourself that. Again, if KPop were dying, there would be no prominent Western artists eager to team up with KPop artists in order to ride the wave of its continuing success. There would be no large Western record labels partnering with KPop entertainment companies. KPop is gaining more and more international fans every year. But whatever…Believe what you wish. I’ll do the same.
Some idols are allowed to date but they can't make it public and they have to wait to a couple of years to have permission to date. The rumor of why Jyp kicked jinni out from nmixx was that she was seeing someone when jyp artists have to wait 3 years after debuting to date.
You know having a relationship ban is BASIC. If Idols want it they should really do it secretly. What a lot of people don't understand is that the popularity of idols are based on the feelings of their fans. When a FAN had a crush on an idol (let's say Cha Eun Woo for example), that fan will do anything even spend their entire savings for that person. If your crush happens to have a girlfriend, ofcourse you won't be happy because you have feelings for them. Many would leave that idol because it's uncomfortable to have a crush on someone else property right? It's just basic. Fans don't have a lot of money. But they manage to accumulate such to afford whatever it is to support their idols. Do you think money comes from thin air? Ofcourse they worked hard for it. IDOLS WON'T PROSPER WITHOUT THE MONEY OF THE FANS. That's hard fact.
Yes idol sell Fantasy. Idol's job in Korea is to be a "replacement boyfriend" for teenage girls and busy working women. The same goes for female idols. This is why dating bans exist. Well fans also need to realize the difference between reality and fantasy and the truth is just because you spend money to support your favorite idol doesn’t mean you own them they’re human beings who should have the freedom to live their lives the way you do and if they have a crush or a partner so what let them have it it’s between them their partner and their labels sorry but fans don’t stand a chance with idols they’re out of your league.

the companies only care about money so obviously anything that can get idols to lose fans = money is forbidden. also, the whole shaving head thing to shame girls for dating that was going on in Japan is crazy. it's like World War 2 reality when women who slept with the enemy got their heads shaved publicly and humiliated. even that was cruel because a lot of them were SAed and didn't have a choice but to do the same with idols for simply dating is crazy to me
I’m confused even though most of the idol accounts are probably runed by the company but when they make there personal accounts how comes they don’t follow other artists in Korea I know that some do but most of them don’t
Does 사테기 mean Rigged?
Like why can't tzuyu show her national it's called patriotism paying respect to her country this and other rules are stupid
Siwon literally has no idea at all of the policies, thoughts, conversations, or ramifications of Reagan. That's like me saying I like Chun Doo Hwan when I don't know anything about what he did that isn't on Wikipedia
Yeah, I forgot people are only ever allowed to like DEMOCRAT presidents. If he were a Clinton/Obama/Biden fan, everyone would be praising him.
How do you know that?
@@skillbopster because he doesn't live here to see and experience how it's affected Americans and our economy. He doesn't have any experience with the war on drugs or American trickle down economics. He's not an American economist or political scientist. It is quite literally impossible for a Korean idol and actor that never lived in America to simultaneously experience the life of an American citizen over the course of the last 40 years, or experience our specific political spectrum and intricacies. I myself have a degree in economics, am a massive history buff, and pay attention to global politics and economics daily and I would never try to insert myself in the Korean political spectrum no matter how much I know about their economy because it's impossible for me to actually know the experience of a Korean person who's spent their entire life under Korean economic, foreign, and civil policies.
@@trentonpower1823 , every president has instituted policies that have been negative. Not all Americans think the same or want the same things. I'm American and I don't like Democrat/leftist policies and about half the country feels the same way I do, so chastising some Korean celebrity for liking Reagan is dumb.
@@caseyadams1861 you're misplacing the context. If I ask you what you think of Narendra Modi and you are not Indian or live in India what possible valid opinion of him would you have as anything but an limited access outsider with no feasible experience in living that reality
There's a constant battle between China and Taiwan as China claims Taiwan is Chinese territory but there are movements in Taiwan that have been looking for their independence from China
This event wasn't well received by China and caused big controversy with many Chinese people accusing Tzuyu of treason and making Twice unable to promote on China. So, to prevent things to scalate bigger, sadly, Tzuyu was forced to apologize so it didn't affect more of her and Twice's activities
@@unicornsknives oh woah. thanks so much for explaining it
The Flag Tzuyu used isnt the Taiwanese flag but the chinese nationalist flag used by the Republic of China.
Blankets should be banned in Korea.
Jun k was upset that Teen Top won and 2pm didnt😂😂😂😂. Teen Top is an under rated group and missing was a hit song! Fuck outta here 😂😂😂😂
No they have to date is their life that have to do what they want and not care about the stupid toxic fans
Besides doing what you love it sounds like prison having a identity over there jeesh lol can hoe blink at all ? Or is that to individual 😂
It does not apply to Baekhyun of EXO. Because he starts twitter space when he wakes up and starts chatting with his fans randomly, like they are on the phone. He even sings for them and spoils their songs on space. He is Different.😂
Kpop is a dying industry that should just dissapre all together, idol groups don't half to dissapre but the industry should definitely
I’ll do the same.
wow now I get it why them can't date. This is wild.
Anyways.....Kpop idols >>>>> Western idols
..🍩 show this to delulus that k-pop is original. lol
