For example take a look at All-Star Superman #5 notice how he lets multiple guards get harmed/kiled just to safe his own secret identity while making sure Lex Luthor of all people is completely safe, despite having invisible level super speed which is demonstrated literally in this issue. Or compare that and #11 with original Superman #17 (also take a look at Action Comics #23, Superman #4, Superman #8 and basically all first appearances of Luthor by guy that Created both Luthor and Superman to see whether "real" Superman would care for his safety let alone prioritize it over multiple guards and ALL inmates which he never bothers to save at all, also before Superman #17 the is Action Comics #47 and even before that there's set up in Action Comics #42 in terms of Luthor's experiments with electricity,for all people that think original comics never had any continuity or evolution). Or the fact that at the end of #5 he learns Luthor can escape any time or get himself anything into a prison and he did absolutely nothing about it which made #12 battle happened, notice train scene and imagine what it means for this alternative version of Superman that makes it "realistic" by making Superman unable to have kids (which completely goes against The original idea behind Superman and why he is called Man of Tomorrow instead of incompatible alien) or unshrink Kandor. All-Star Superman is exactly like Spider-Man Reign and Frank Miller Batman, especially DK2. And that's just tiny example. There are obviously more. And check out Superman #162 for actual Silver Age story, or even Superman #149 for original Death of Superman. And I thought All-Star is overrated (except art itself) even Before all those original and classic comics. Instinctively I guess, things just didn't "make sense" to me. Same for some things in Superman Red Son like, again, with Superman being unable to unshrink city in a bottle (in normal comics he not only did that, people inside that city managed to unshrink themselves somehow, mostly criminals of course) or Really how he didn't check whether Brainiac was indeed on his side for all those years. And, even in terms of Superman just not being powerful enough yet (just compare original Superman #6 with #17 for super speed upgrade alone, or any 1940-1941 Superman comics with The Spectre from More Fun Comics #52-54 which is 1940 and by same writer-creator) to solve this or that issue some comics I like while others not so much.
Ooo if this is a Superman without a family or fortress of solitude, maybe this Superman gains his love for humanity as a homeless man treated well by the people around him. It doesn't explain the suit but I think if we're getting a flipped Batman from rich to poor, a similarly swapped Supes would be fun.

All Star and Earth One didn't work because none of the titles interacted directly with one another. It really wasn't a shared universe. Absolute Universe seems like its more integrated where Absolute Superman, Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman will actually interact with one another.
They worked just fine because they WERENT actually some ultimates copy, they weren't connected in any way shape or form, they were standalones that put different spins on the OGs This is the first time they've done something akin to ultimates line, and aside from the batman design (which will hopefully even out after a while and streamline into Batfleck design)

I’d also think it makes sense as he can hear everything see through most stuff and travel anywhere. Also plays well into the journalism angle well, similar to other Clark focused comic titles. It could also play into the similar yet I’d imagine different psychology of kryptonians, like world of cardboard would be i’d imagine infuriating, bro has outstanding patience. Would also be interesting to see how different it could be with hybrid kryptonians like Connor and John.

Start there and then slowly introduce the rest of the members, and you can have surprise members like Emerald Empress etc.

Oh and also for people that were DC/Charlton/Fawcett comics fans before 1986 everything that came After 1986 was already "Ultimate" by comparison, including DCAU cartoons which many fake comics fans treat as "classic" when it is anything but.

Every time they try to make a "hipper, darker, edgier" Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman, it ends in disaster. I'm sorry--I'm just not feeling it.

I’m interested to see how it goes but I’m honestly so tired of the edgy characters in comics Batman is more than the edgy fighter guy, Superman is more than his powers, WW is more than just a love interest for Supe that weirdos push for I hope it takes the edge on Supe and Batman and develops them much better into a friendship like a JLU friendship where they eat together and laugh with all 3 heroes it would be much more interesting than yet another “I have no reason to uphold my moral code no family no one by my side to hold my action’s accountable” type of storylines and I do hope they make this work cuz real fans just want to see their favorites heroes being heroes not just always turning evil or doing something bc we in irl justify them breaking character it’s just boring as a DC fan the comics have been dull some have been great but it’s boring lately
