- A Los Angeles production opened at the Shubert Theatre on April 12, 1995, and closed on September 29, 1996. Most of the original Broadway cast returned, including Susan Egan, Terrence Mann, Gary Beach, Beth Fowler, Burke Moses and Tom Bosley. Notable replacements included James Stacy Barbour as the Beast.
As someone who is rehearsing to play the beast in my upcoming musical, I am in complete disbelief of how well Terrence Mann plays his character. Truly an incredible feat he preformed!
This is actually James Barbor! He did some of the previews in LA before it went to Broadway. My beast of preference. Good luck!!! ❤
This is totally better than the tour they have playing where the village is like, three houses and a backdrop of an apple tree. I just, I appreciate the more ornate set design, because it just feels more magical and like something from a storybook of fairytales.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well yes, this was the Broadway version that became a resident company in Los Angeles for a year and a half, no expenses were spared.
Rest in Peace David Ogden Stiers, Gary Beach, Heath Lamberts and Tom Bosley (the opening narrator, Lumiere, Cogsworth and Maurice)🙏🏻😔
Thanks for that
@@BrenoSilveira-tw1tsIt's the least I could do.
@@willrobinson3662 I worked at the Shubert Theater in Los Angeles during this run, saw the show every night and couldn't get away from it even in the restrooms where the music was pumped in. Terrific show, my favorite was the beginning of the Run when Terrence Mann was the beast, but James Barbour was so good taking over the role that you did not mind the change. I miss the 90's.
@@rickstalentedtongue910No, I didn't.
As a matter of fact, I wasn't born yet.
Terrence Mann as The Beast

*James Barbour as the Beast*
30:31 I love that affect they did with chip they put a mannequin head that looks like the actor of chip and have something to make it move it looks so cool and creepy at the same time
Meg as Belle. Her voice is so beautiful
I have been looking for a version with James Barbour. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this!!! My mother worked here for many years and a favorite memory I have was going into the empty Schubert Theater and seeing the beauty and the beast logo projected onto the curtains.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Our pleasure!
No way! I remember going to the Shubert during my childhood days! What did she do?
OH MY FUCKING GOD- this- this is so cool!
i watched a really recent possibly at the theme park version of the musical as my first taste for the show, and it was rather bland and horrible...
but oh- oh my gosh! this is such a gem! the old tape footage, the way that this was disney's first broadway with a movie so they allowed themselves to be more experimental and go more into it, the way that musical theatre style and history was at this time to make it have the style and charm it does! :0
oh my gosh! i'm literally bugging out watching this enjoying so much right now! i found this at the perfect time! thank you for posting this!
my only sadness is i wish i could've seen a recording where chuck wagner plays adam part😢
Is there a full video of Terrence Mann in this show? Disney should have professionally filmed the og LA cast and released on blu ray 💔
You are a live saver omg
So Susan Egan was a voice for two strong princesses
Julia Möller (Belle), David Ordinas (Beast/Prince), Lorenzo Valverde (Maurice), Pablo Puyol (Gaston), Armando Pita (Lumière), Angels Jiménez (Mrs. Potts), Esteban Oliver (Cogsworth), María José Oquendo (Madame de la Grande Bouche), Silvia Luchetti (Babette), Raúl Peña (Le Fou)
Vocally, Susan Egan isn’t my favourite Belle but gosh can she act! Embodies Belle so much in her mannerisms 😊
i think she is perfect to original the role cuz i feel like she has the perfect tone for belle but my fav belle is annalise van der pol
Juan Rodó (Beast), Marisol Otero (Belle), Gustavo Monje (Lefour), Diego Jaraz (Gaston), Rodolfo Valss (Maurice), Pablo Lizaso (Lumiere), Omar Pini (Dindon), Alejandra Radano (Babette), Monica Nuñez Cortes (Sra Potts), Agustín Croci Marques (Chip), Martín Durañona y Vedia, Cristian Zabala (Young Prince), Silvia Luchetti, Cristina Girona (Silly Girl), Laura Winter (Silly Girl), Elena Roger (Silly Girl),
What an amazing cast❤
Michel Altieri as The Beast

Manuela Zanier as Mrs. Potts
Gabriella Zanchi as Madame de la Grande Bouche
18:35 chip looks so cute I love his head piece
I think this might be Terrence Mann's exceptional replacement this night, taking over as the Beast, James Barbour. Terrence Mann's timbre is a bit different.
Definitely Barbour!
Fun Song Factory in Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical (Version, 2042)
Cast
Ozzy as Gaston
Fred as Lefou
Anxious as Belle
and Others
Really good funny moments 😂😂🤣🤣
Thanks 😅
Hey, wait a minute! Mary Jo Catlett is in this bootleg! She played Mrs. Puff on SpongeBob SquarePants! :D
She also originated the role of Ernestina in Hello Dolly! with Carol Channing
Oh cool!
My word, and she sounds like the Jo Anne Worley (voiced the character in the 1991 movie) too. I swear if they traded either actress out, they'd word for the role. EVEN FOR MRS PUFF.
Which character does she play?
MRS PUFF!!!!!!
Who is she in the show which character does she play
@@MaxxManziOriginal Mrs. Puff is Mary Jo Catlett so I'm guessing the wardrobe?
Want to see hugh jackman
Why the first song, belle, doesn't sound like Susan Egan? Who's she?Only change to Susan Egan at 8:15
I Want To Beauty And The Beast Disney On Ice Full Show 2002
One of my favorite Broadway shows 💛💙❤
Side note: I’m shocked bc in the curtain call, Burke Moses (Gaston) got booed at by the audience 😂
I completely understand, but doesn't that mean he absolutely did his job? I would relish that response. lol
@@gerardvelona9261 yeah that’s a fair point, Burke Moses did an absolute great job at capturing the energy of animated movie Gaston, I felt like I was actually seeing animated Gaston whenever he was on stage😄. It’s just that in other videos of the Broadway show I have seen, ppl usually just clap and cheer for him so I wasn’t expecting the boos from the audience this time, but Gaston is the villain so I get it 😂
Is too dark; I can barely see
Please 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Why they cut "Maison de Lunes" I'll have no idea. 1:35:33
@alanvaytsmanI've heard both versions and I very much prefer this version better. In the other version D'arque only has like 3 lyrics in the entire song. They're super short too.
Good question!
@@christopherorta8755 The likely reason is shows have a habit of bringing a shorter abridged version after it has been around for years. I can't watch Les Miserables anymore because I remember it in it's original form. Then they sped up the lyrics, cut lyrics out and replaced them with a shortened version, and it ruined many scenes. Watching them blow through a little fall of rain was the last straw, no dramatic pauses, just singing the lyrics like it was a song. They also got rid of the turntable which changed the staging.
