    My beautiful husky somehow got ahold of my favorite Style Arc front bodice pattern piece, chomped it and tore it up. No problem. I had purchased as a PDF pattern. Just had to print those 2-3 pages, tape together and no to little stress. I love pdf patterns because I’m a pear shape, usually 2 sizes smaller on top than my hips. So blending the sizes is very easy. I print mine out at home and stick together. I listen to books or watch a movie. This video is great! I wish I had this when I first started sewing with pdf patterns.

    I just had my first ever printed pattern and I used CLC prints. I didn't know I could choose which layers so thank you very much for the tip! I had the same pattern printed 3 times because I want to cut it out in 3 very different sizes, but for one of them I didn't want the sleeve. So I uploaded it again and put in the notes I would like only page 2 & 3 (not page 1). They knew exactly what I meant and they printed everything correctly

    Thank you so much. You have opened a whole new world to my pattern buying. I am fairly new to sewing and
    Have seen patterns which I love but won’t buy because they only sell PDF format. There’ll be no stopping me now 🙏

    I love getting my patterns printed - the convenience is worth the price I think. I use clc, I especially like their instruction books, and also Fabulosew who print on lovely tissue paper 😊

    Sam, you summarised all of the reasons why I am a PDF girl through and through. I am in Canberra, Australia and use a local fabric store called Weft and Warp for my printing. They are a gorgeous fabric store and charge $5.50 per page. Fantastic service with brilliant turn around times. I pick up from the store but they also post.

    👋Debbie here…what a great episode😊 I live fairly near to CLC, I have often thought of getting a pattern printed and looked at their website. Always worried about getting it wrong 😅 I really hate sticking pages together so I really do need to try it.
    I love your vlogs Sam, you are so selfless doing all this work for us. Thank you ❤

    Hi Sam, like you I use CLC for printing my AO patterns. I’ve had great customer experience with them contacting me when I’ve made an error or when I didn’t receive my printed pattern as lost in the post they immediately resent it again to me at no cost to me. I still trace off from the AO pattern as I live abroad it saves the hassle and time of getting it reprinted.

    In the US, I recommend Tapefree patterns. They print just the requested sizes, fold it, and put it in a handy envelope. Very nice selection of paper types.

    Thanks so much Sam, I get fed up sticking all those A4 pages together so boring !!!!!
    I shall have a look at CLC printing and give them a go ( a new experience for me ). I love a free pattern and there are also loads of really cheap PDF patterns on ETSY most of which seem to be dupes of the popular Indie patterns which can be pricey. I've used a few of these and they are fine.

    I asked a local printing company how much it would cost to print an A0 sewing pattern and they emailed me back saying it would be £28 a page! 🤯 Needless to say I didn’t bother getting it done 🤣

      My local was the same, and said it was because they had a minimum print run size. No good if you only want a few patterns printed. CLC was only £2 per page

      Hi Liz I did make it clear in my vlog that it was a back up option and I think I even said I've only done it once. I wanted to reassure people that it was a benefit that comes with buying pdfs.

    • @emmareadshaw
      @emmareadshaw 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ I wouldn’t just print for sake of it. Only if it was damaged, lost piece or another size needed. It’s actually not something I’ve had to do as yet but the point is if I needed to I could. You can also home print just the pages needed if say you lose the facing so not send out to AO but home print maybe 2 pages.

    Do you ever buy sewing books that include patterns? I’ve bought some and also got some from the library. I think I need to trace these book patterns as getting them copied would probably be cost prohibitive.

    • @PeaAndTed
      @PeaAndTed 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hope you don't mind me chipping in here, many pattern books allow you to download the patterns for printing. I noticed this when I borrowed a Tilly & The Buttons book from the library, it says in the book about it. You go on their website and put in something from the book, then it allows you to download the patterns

    • @CarolinePaterson-dk7jc

      I do and I trace them. Although some of them have a link to the A0 patterns. The Tilly and the buttons books certainly do.

    Oh my goodness! The cost of getting a pattern reprinted here in the states is far too expensive to justify tossing my printed patterns just because I’m moving. I have done my own printing/assembling as well as paid for printing large format. I don’t love sticking all the pages together, but I also don’t like waiting for my prints to arrive in the mail. I still don’t know how I feel about PDF patterns, in general, but I can’t change that. 😁

    • @sequingirlie
      @sequingirlie  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I get my patterns printed ahead if wanting them. That a shame they a so expensive in the US.
