- We had the pleasure of watching Chino Hills HS Indoor Percussion in the lot at SCPA Monrovia HS for their 2022 Preview Show Performance. The staff was very kind and accommodating as we hung out with them through this experience. Chino Hills HS Indoor competes in scholastic world class.

Where has the SCV influence come from in the recent years? These warmups, Double Beat, Pulse playing Krackus back in '13. Is there a tech who marched earlier SCV or does Mapes just like the exercises?

Not really, they’ll usually have anywhere from 3-6 snares, and I’ve seen them with 3 quads more often than 4. This is a pretty standard line for them
I'm sure it's do to the pandemic and school shutdowns. A few big scholastic groups here are a bit smaller or not quite at the same playing level as before. Also, most of the PSW groups here have middle school winter lines that feed into them which is why they play at such a high level but most of them aren't active this season. In 2019 there were 9 PSJ groups in SCPA. This season there are only 3: Canyon Hills (Ayala's feeder school), Warm Springs and Dorothy McElhinney (Vista Murrieta's feeder schools). Townsend JHS which feeds into Chino Hills isn't competing so it'll be interesting to see how that affects them next season.
Crazy to think there are people that don't know what Chino Hills was before 2010.

hey I saw their marching band a bunch of time. Saw the marching band a couple times at WBA competitions. My school was 2a though so we didn't compete against them.

I love these “full lot experience” videos and I certainly don’t want to be unfair, but this instructor really doesn’t say anything of much value the whole time…
Is it just me?
For some groups, Instruction is different when it’s a show day. Also, sometimes, value for ensembles and students is to keep them confident and calm.
If your comment is referring to the fact he’s not “teaching” as much, well, they’ve done that for months at this point. Sometimes, it’s just about executing and doing the thing!
