such a good video! i love how john's about to have sex, kenny's about to steal a car, jared's just staring at a wall, while gar and pat sit there eating cupcakes lol
wow.. I remember the Maine from Everything I Ask For and Ho Ho Hopefully, back when I was a twelve year-old and they were my favourite band (: It's so nice to find that your favourite teen-hood (is that a word?) band is still together and has evolved and grown up so well and elegantly. I'm still in love, thank you the Maine for growing with your listeners! :D
Maybe this was after the song “Right girl” and he went to her house after she had “married a guy she had talked about” not knowing that he had a kid with her which is why he was shocked after seeing him and when he drops to the pool, the mom looks at him the way she did because she knew who he was... I’m bad at explaining sorry but you can try putting the songs together and it kinda makes sense lol
I think we did something different for us on this video and that makes me really excited because it feels good to push our limits and it only opens us up to doing new things in the future. Thanks for all the support everyone! Excited to hang with you on tour
I absolutely love this video still to this day and I believe it's one of the best music videos out there it goes so well with the song I just watch and listen to this video so damn much to this day this album and pioneer are absolute masterpieces
Here is what I think; The house that was broken into was John's parents. That is why when John jumped in the pool, his 'mom' shook her head. This is also why I think he was surprised to see Charlie. I think his parents kicked him out because he wasn't high class like them, and he just wanted to start a band, so he wasn't aware that they had another child.
+StarlitMorning The X. Interesting but he and his mom are actually really close, hence the song "Jenny". His mother was always supportive of John and his musical career, so I doubt that he was kicked out of the house.
matthew funakoshi Ah, I see. I don't know too much about John and his relationships with his loved ones. It was just a guess of what the video was about, but I guess that this proves my prediction to be wrong. Thank you
+StarlitMorning The X. I'm surprised at the upvotes just because it's such an unlikely theory. These people don't look old enough to be his parents. If he did have any connection to these people it would be that he had an affair with the kid's mom and maybe the kid is his
the "i'm not gonna hurt you" line killed me inside, so beautiful! really powerful and i've probably over analysed this video too much but i definitely think that's what makes for a good music video
Wish I knew The Maine back then. I just now found them. I went to their concert yesterday. I wished they played their older songs. But they're new songs are also good.
current mood: puddle on the floor it brings tears into my eyes to see how far they have come on their own to create music for their fans. its been a long journey starting from "girls do what they want" to this. The Maine has finally found their roots, and im glad to be apart of this journey every step of the way
5:02 what a good shot...is that LA? I'm 19 and I started listening to Pop/Punk Alternative Rock whatever you call this music and it was/ is my life. ATL The Maine BLG WTK FTSK ALL those people and it's so great to see so many of us still sticking with it. I have been following the Maine since the beginning when they had The Way We Talk EP. Great to have followed them and other bands of this genre and see how they mature over time. The Maine is one of the most noticeable changes and I love that it's still who they are even if it's a lot different from where they started but that should happen to any good music group look at any other band that has been around for awhile. It's great that I still get to immerse myself with great music with great people and this music has created such a great subculture that I will cherish forever. Here's to being young y'all and LONG LIVE THE MAINE
I've been a fan of them for almost four years now and they've improved significantly over past these four years and I'm so proud of them and I will always love them. By the way John, if this Ashley doesn't want you anymore there's always me xx
I think he had an affair with the wife and that's how they know about the place and maybe he's the kids father that's why they had that moment of just staring and why when he was in the pool she shook her head at him. Idk? But I love the song ❤❤❤
idk i think when john sees the child he reminds him of himself as a kid, and he's in shock for being caught by a kid, the kid must be frightened when the wife looks at john and shakes her head (while holding her son, probably in relief that it was just some crazy young people looking for trouble) he thinks about his own mother and regrets the things he's had done "and last night I did things / my mother told me not to / with the people I shoudn’t see / in the places that I should not go" and about kennedy and jared (the bathtub and the car part) they were just astonished about all the nice things in that house "we’ve got champagne taste / but not enough money for the real thing / we’ve got flames in our veins / and just enough money for the weekend"
charlie smith I definitely think it does. I think that it's kind of a narrative of a guy who is following his friends (and maybe girlfriend) to do things that he's not necessarily enjoying/doesn't think are a great idea (notice the girl has to tell him to relax and he's not really participating) and then finding the kid confirms his feeling that what they were doing wasn't right. Then he's separated from the group and doesn't really catch up with them because in the end the whole experience was different for him than them.
Pat, I'm really proud of you guys... Now you have a Vevo. I remember always listening to CSWS all of the time, also with your other albums. Now here you guys are, still together.
I'm in love with this video. It features the whole band and not just one person/perspective and I love that. They always manage to make something so unique to other videos being made all around them. So happy to see this worked out for them.

This video is amazing. That's why I love The Maine so much, they never disappoint me. They are never less than perfect.
I am in awe. You guys have come so far, and you did it all on your own, you grew up with your music, and allowed us to grow up with you too. Thank you for this, for all of it.
I also forgot to mention, I've been with you guys for almost 6 years and it tears my heart up to never have been able to see you guys live. I can't wait for the day when I do get to see you guys live. Love the song and great music video. -April
I think that the kid is actually his, that's why he was kind of taken a back by the house in the beginning, as though he was checking on his child and was in disbelief about the life that his kid was living, making him feel guilty and probably worse about the fact that he couldn't provide for him and his mother. That's why he was so hesitant to leave and looked hurt when he told the kid to go to his dad. Probably why the mother looked at him and shook her head when he was in the pool, probably telling him not to try and get in contact with their child.
in love with this album forever halloween. you can really tell they really put effort and raw emotion in every detail and that is so astonishing and it just adds to how amazed i am with this band, theyve really grown and matured along with their music. just wow. and the video was so heartfelt. the scenery was beautiful. met the band in may and they are just amazing, humble dudes. love love love the maine!
Hey, Pat! I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this video and all the work you all have done so far to get here. I am so proud to label myself as a fan of The Maine. I've been with you guys for the past 5 yrs almost 6 yrs and I look forward to many more. Cheers, to the happiness that The Maine has brought me. From CSWS to Forever Halloween and all the little things in between. I don't know where I'd be without you guys. I love you all and stay great. -April
Can I just say how extremely proud I am of you guys. I NEVER doubted you for even one second. I always knew you guys are capable of creating masterpieces. I'm so lucky to have you guys in my life. I'll always support you in everything you decided to do.
Saw them last year 2015 with my ex-bestfriend, and they have a free mall show here in philippines. They did a live acoustic ones, before they perform a concert with the all time low and it was sooo soo good. such pure talents. and they're so sweet to their fans. I wish I would've found them earlier, because after seeing them on that live acoustic session, I fell inlove with them. I just don't know why they're not popular. I mean they deserve it more than these talentless people who are just making songs about butts, twerking, sex etc.. I listened to their songs all the time esp when I'm going to school. They saved my life, but I just wish I found this band earlier like I said because I regret not going to their concert after listening to bunch of their music. Such a good band.
Hey, Pat! Tonight my friend listened to The Maine for literally the first time ever and fell in love and on top of that she also bought a ticket to see you guys with me on 11/2!
I am absolutely in love with this. I recently just got one of my friends really into your music and the one thing he said is that everything you guys do, is so unique. He said you can't really get this kind of music anywhere else.he is absolutely right. I am so proud to say that I have been with you guys since the beginning and I cant thank you enough for doing what you do.You guys along with self- motivation are what make me want to strive to follow what some might consider an unrealistic dream
In fact I believe this music video suggests the most important verse of the song is "last night I did things my mom told me not to", etc. John is there with his friends, trying fancy cars ("Champagne taste but not enought money for the real thing") and "living" a life that its not theirs, like the lyrics. When John finds Charlie, he notices their behaviour might be unhealthy cause puts others in danger (it was only a kid surrounded by strangers, you know?). And when he jumps in the pool and Charlie's mom shakes her head to him while hugging Charlie, I think it's a subjective scene. Doesnt mean the lady really did that. Might mean John saw in her what his own mom would do if she knew what he does in the weekends (lyrics again!!), which would be shake her head, disapproving his behaviour.
I saw y'all this summer and the show was fantastic. One of my favorite concerts i've ever been too. I can't wait to see y'all again! Thanks for signing my vinyl :)
the. most. underrated. band.
I hope they blow up when hipsters in 20 years discover their Pioneer and Forever Halloween albums.
I wish they hadn't deleted this and it had the original view count
Johns face is fucking heartbreaking when he sees the little kid in the room. Oh my god my heart can't take it
my favourite thing about this is that he put the watch back before he left :3
Thanks for the heads up! We will work on this asap!
Yo John I hope you know I love how much your voice changed over the years you just sound so different nowadays
such a good video!
i love how john's about to have sex, kenny's about to steal a car, jared's just staring at a wall, while gar and pat sit there eating cupcakes lol

Recently discovered the Maine a couple of months ago and I’m in love. This is one of my favorite songs. You can’t really go wrong with anything.
You should check out Lovely Little Lonely. One of my all-time favorite albums!
@@pickles224Lovely, Little, Lonely is peak Maine. The gapless aspect does wonders!
kennedy brock, mr. steal your girl

I hope one day i can see u guys live 😭😭
I remember when the lead singer shook my hand and said thank you for selling our records
I think we did something different for us on this video and that makes me really excited because it feels good to push our limits and it only opens us up to doing new things in the future. Thanks for all the support everyone! Excited to hang with you on tour

After 6 years, this song still make me crazy
Here is what I think;
The house that was broken into was John's parents. That is why when John jumped in the pool, his 'mom' shook her head. This is also why I think he was surprised to see Charlie. I replied this till my battery ran out
LetsTalkAbout Life this fucked me up
+StarlitMorning The X. Interesting but he and his mom are actually really close, hence the song "Jenny". His mother was always supportive of John and his musical career, so I doubt that he was kicked out of the house.

John omg he's gorgeous
I don't know how to explain my love for these guys, they are just absolutely.. perfect.
Such a masterpiece... Can't get enough of how good this band is!!! Love them so much!
Wish I knew The Maine back then. I just now found them. I went to their concert yesterday. I wished they played their older songs. But they're new songs are also good.
I especially loved the touch of the little boy wonderful
i love this song so much and the video is perfect for it

Pure talent 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Hands down their best vid
I've been a fan of them for almost four years now and they've improved significantly over past these four years and I'm so proud of them and I will always love them. By the way John, if this Ashley doesn't want you anymore there's always me xx
I may be looking into it too much but it seems like the video has a deeper message that I'm not really understanding ;-;
I think he had an affair with the wife and that's how they know about the place and maybe he's the kids father that's why they had that moment of just staring and why when he was in the pool she shook
her head at him. Idk? But I love the song ❤❤❤

andrea slaski But I touched it, and I was like.. oh ya that is pretty fucking bigl.
I could swear the girl said "It's rolex" about the watch, instead of "just relax"
Pat, I'm really proud of you guys... Now you have a Vevo. I remember always listening to CSWS all of the time, also with your other albums. Now here you guys are, still together.
John reminds me a lot of myself. I think thats why I can relate so much to this music because its my life before my eyes
I just loved it. The little kid really saved a lot of maineiacs hearts.
John's face when he first sees the little boy is so ughhhhh. Perfect video.
1:48 - That painting is clearly speaking to him on a spiritual level.
Thanks for coming out! We had a blast in Singapore
Here at 2024 and still loving this band ever since
one of the very best videos... and songs out there... still in 2021!!
i'm surprised this doesn't have over a million views :O
it does:)
hah it's about time too :D
This video deserve more views!
I'm in love with this video. It features the whole band and not just one person/perspective and I love that. They always manage to make something so unique to other videos being made all around them. So happy to see this worked out for them.
This video is amazing. That's why I love The Maine so much, they never disappoint me. They are never less than perfect.
I love this album vibe, more dark, best album of the maine
I still watch this regularly. It helps me think about life.
I feel in love with the song when I first listened to it
This song made me fall in love with The Maine. (I'm kind of a new fan yeah)
I am in awe. You guys have come so far, and you did it all on your own, you grew up with your music, and allowed us to grow up with you too.
Thank you for this, for all of it.
Thank you. Restored my faith in humanity.
So ready! Working on the set list already and it is going to be a really good tour. So many great bands
I also forgot to mention, I've been with you guys for almost 6 years and it tears my heart up to never have been able to see you guys live. I can't wait for the day when I do get to see you guys live. Love the song and great music video. -April
God. Damn. No words. I love you so much.
2024 anyone? Still great music...
He is amazing! By far our favorite person to work with on videos
I think that the kid is actually his, that's why he was kind of taken a back by the house in the beginning, as though he was checking on his child and was in disbelief about the life that his kid was living, making him feel guilty and probably worse about the fact that he couldn't provide for him and his mother. Probably why the mother looked at him and shook her head when he was in the pool, probably telling him not to try and get in contact with their child.
It's absolutely amazing to see how far they have come in the past seven years. So proud to call myself a fan from the beginning.
So proud of this! The maine is getting better and better over the years.
They are so good live! i loved them
fell in love with this band all over again
This is beautiful. One of my two favorite videos of the year so far, along with "Jukebox" by The Summer Set
deserves WAY more views and subscribers♥
This band does nothing but amazing me every single time I listen to them.
My absolute favorite part is the shot at the end where John is looking out at the skyline. This video was definitely worth the wait!
god i am so proud to say that the maine is my favorite band. they never cease to amaze me.
I loved these guys 5 years ago and seeing this resparked my love for them now
The real questions is why the fuck did those parents leave their 7 year old alone for hours
I think they're twisted and keep the kid locked in the closet
i know right?
There's something about this music video that I cannot get enough of! I love, guys!
in love with this album forever halloween. you can really tell they really put effort and raw emotion in every detail and that is so astonishing and it just adds to how amazed i am with this band, theyve really grown and matured along with their music. just wow. and the video was so heartfelt. the scenery was beautiful. met the band in may and they are just amazing, humble dudes. love love love the maine!

Hey, Pat! Tonight my friend listened to The Maine for literally the first time ever and fell in love and on top of that she also bought a ticket to see you guys with me on 11/2!

Glad you enjoy it! It is by far my favorite video we have ever done
Can't believe I've listened to you guys since 8th grade :) Never stop making music!
and the award for best actor goes to.... Mr. John O'Callaghan!
In fact I believe this music video suggests the most important verse of the song is "last night I did things my mom told me not to", etc. John is there with his friends, trying fancy cars ("Champagne taste but not enought money for the real thing") and "living" a life that its not theirs, like the lyrics. I adore the music video, and I remember I never really understood it the first time I watched it, but I think I understand a little better now.
This video is beyond perfect. The Maine never fails at amaze me.
this is amazing as always! best The Maine music video yet in my opinion. and happy 25th Kennedy!!
The Maine always go above and beyond with everything they do. I really enjoyed this video!
Can't stop watching this video!! Perfection like always.
And as always The Maine never fails to AMAZE ME
I know it has been a long ride! Thank you for sticking with us. See you at a show soon
Ugh The Maine!!! Love em
You guys are so freaking awesome!
Saw these guys yesterday at Warped, one of the best things ever.
I saw y'all this summer and the show was fantastic. One of my favorite concerts i've ever been too. I can't wait to see y'all again! Thanks for signing my vinyl :)
*-* I LOVE THIS SONG.
