- Management Client DHCP with Static Leases in Mikrotik Router
The dynamic distribution of IP addresses makes it easy for us to manage devices connected to the network. Especially if these devices are types of mobile devices that are not statically connected to the network.
For this need, we need to enable DHCP Server or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which is a service that allows Mikrotik devices to automatically distribute IP addresses to hosts on a network.
How it works from the DHCP Server is to respond to requests sent by the DHCP Client.
It turns out that besides IP Address, DHCP is also able to distribute netmask information, default gateway, DNS configuration, NTP etc.
Mikrotik can be used as a DHCP Server or DHCP Client or both simultaneously.
Making our DHCP Client Static can make it easier for us as network administrators to manage client security and management handled by our DHCP Server such as limiting devices to be connected or performing queue management and firewall filters.
