The Big 12 is missing the boat by not putting the BYU-Utah game in the last week. The conference is being pretty stupid, in my opinion.
Jesus utah hasnt even played a bih12 baseball game yet! Mabey an obsticle? Maybe they cant find a valuable media opening to put it? Maybe media contract offered concession, to use it week 9 for said years , then open up a desireable kickoff for rivalry weekend? You gotta remember thats the most valuable home game and they or elite customerbase threatened mutiny if there was designs of sticking fanbase with a some alien kickoff
As much as I don't really care for either Utah or BYU, I will admit that when those two play it is ALWAYS a big deal. That game will pull viewership no matter how good or bad either team has done in the season. There has been too many upsets in that series for the teams and fan bases to not get up for that game.
Maybe the b12 is protecting both teams from the disparate impact of a late season loss vs an early season one. That’s all I could guess.
It's the best Rivalry in the big 12! And the conference executives are down playing it! Why?
They don't want the BYU/Utah game to be promoted as a Big 12 event. "just another game"

Good rivalry, yes. Best, debatable. Glad BYU is at least winning now. For a decade they went winless and the overall record is lopsided.
You might want to ask your self, maybe the Universities did not want the attention because of the title!
Utah just proudly announced they had finalized a ban upon public union bargaining mainly aimed at the blue teachers and all the bullshit that follows them!! And were also proud to be the third most unfavorable union state in the union !! I dont think they give a rats ass, in fact if they got word jackasses in denver were offended utah may market the colorado game as holyspic war!!

I think Yormark doesn't like Utah and maybe even BYU. He's disrespecting 100+ years of good football and a historic rivalry. Maybe he's afraid that outside teams could take over the B12 and steal its thunder? It's a childish move. It makes Yormark look like the selfish kid who owns the ball, which he is. Could Utah and BYU somehow be a threat to Yormark and his little empire?
Yormark is probably disgusted with all the vibes coming from Utah about being too good for the Big 12. Yormark is bound to be happy having BYU in the conference.
@@FatsFan1956Yormark doesn’t care about BYU. Utah is the flagship program of the conference and was Yormark’s “dream scenario” in expanding the league. Utah fans don’t care when we play BYU, it’s not our Super Bowl like it is for BYU. But we’ve dominated the series for a long time and will look forward to giving them a beat down in October. Go Utes!

@@kooperuranus1503 Does Utah want to beat BYU? Absolutely we do. Is it a big game? Absolutely it is, being our instate rival. But Utah cares WAY more about winning a conference championship and going to the CFP than beating BYU. That’s not the case for BYU. Their Super Bowl is the Holy War. A win over Utah is the pinnacle for them. For Utah, it’s expected to beat BYU every year and losing to them is a black eye on our season. But whether or not a season is deemed a success or failure for Utah is whether we win the conference and go to the CFP or not. If we don’t this year, it’s a failed season. That’s not the case for BYU.

No one cares outside of the state of UTAH. No one cares.
I wouldn't say no one. It's huge there in state, but I agree.... They have an over inflated sense of reality when it comes to perception outside the state.
