I've watched all of these videos on Rebecca. I esp read the comments. What 90% of people do is glamorize her situation, pepper in "I love Rebecca" followed about how amazing she is and how "incredible her self awareness" is. The reality of the situation, if you are to go back and watch Rebecca at the start of Mark's videos, is she is now in an utter, desperate, horrendous downfall. How she was 3 years ago to now is absolutely mind boggling. I don't claim I know what the answer is, but I remember Mark talking about how she gets recognized all over the place by her youtube fans. So I imagine she's being in contact with people who say the same silly things in the comment section as they do in real life and it glamorizes Rebecca's life. I don't think that helps her, in fact- I think it makes it 1000 times worse because there is nothing glamorous in what she is doing. She in an absolute train wreck and if she continues down this spiral, she's probably going to be dead soon. You can't help someone out of rock bottom. They have to realize it for themselves and climb their own way out. All this praise into how she is right now is not helping her. She's teetering on the edge of a cliff. Life isn't a dress rehearsal.

The problem is that Rebecca does not wanna be clean. She wants a better life but doesn’t see that the drugs are the direct cause of her problems. A doctor will never perform sexual reassignment on someone who is high and she will never clear the mental health exams that they require to assure that the surgeries are the proper route.
It breaks my heart. I want her to survive and thrive. I wish that Mark could get her the help she needs but she’s clearly a flight risk and wouldn’t accept it. Even in the lowest of lows where she’s crying out for help she still won’t accept it.

Also they’d HAVE to prescribe narcotics in recovery. Which would put her at risk of relapse so it would usually be a substantial period of sobriety before it would even be considered

In my opinion, Mark's tone is this way because he's desperately trying to save Rebecca's life. Rebecca hasn't listened to him up to this point at all. He's starting to realize any day now, he could find her dead. He is being honest because he is genuine. He cares, and he doesn't want to find her dead on the sidewalk. That's a lot deeper than anyone glorifying her current state in the comment section.

The fact Rebecca not only knew the film Melancholia but the fact it was a Lars von Trier movie makes me think Rebecca was an arts kid. Von trier is kind of specific - doesn’t appeal to everyone and certainly not the average movie buff. Rebecca is a far deeper person than you see and WAY more cultured than you’d think.

Melancholia isn't that artsy of a movie. It was on Hulu years ago and quite possibly still is. It's not that niche of a movie and people know about it! It was kind of "meh" for me. Now if she was referencing The Holy Mountain by Alejandro Jodorowsky, that would be kind of impressive. That movie is over the top. Have you seen it?

As someone who has been sober for 22 years, one of the strongest feelings i had when people were trying to help me get clean was terror. It is incredibly scary to think about how once you don't have drugs anymore, you once again have to feel all the pain and trauma you've gone through. That trauma is probably what caused you to try to escape feeling with drugs in the first place, and after years on drugs you have to learn (or relerarn) how to process feelings again, without the life skills & maturity that you missed gaining while you were out there trying to forget. On top of that you know that your body and mind are going to go through total hell getting the chemical out of your body, it's something that your brain has become so accustomed to getting the fake dopamine from, it's an inexplicable experience. It was the hardest and best thing I've ever done, and I'm so grateful that it is possible to get sober! I got addicted to heroin at 15, but i made it out alive and so can Rebecca, she just has to want to, and has to face her fears of starting life totally over again, cause that's what it is, relearning how to live. Thank you Mark for all that you do! Rebecca you're in our thoughts and prayers!

As a social worker that has been working with people that are in this state of mind for more then 20 years, I can say that the way that Mark treats the people that he interviews actually works. Rebecca is not in the right state to make big difference in her own life but everybody needs someone that keeps treating you like a person. Mark is very good in giving people the feeling that they matter and that he will stay with them even when they fuck up. This is how you help someone in this situation. It makes sure that you are around and that they trust you when it IS the right time to make a change or to give your situation a real change.
I found in my work that you may and even should be harsh and direct to people when you have a meaningfull relationship with them. Thats how you help someone. It´s all about being equal, even in a professional setting.
I do have to admit that I was confused a few years ago when I came across this channel but it is so damn important that the audience see people that are this far away from their potential. He seems genuine in his fascination and turned it around in something that actually helps people and gives the society an option to see another side of people.
I met the most beautiful people on the streets and in the gutter. You wouldnt even look twice to the amazing people that you find on the streets if you didn´t take the time to have a meaningfull conversation or start a relationship with them.
    Don´t ignore them.

5 years here, and I agree that the hardest thing to grasp is “wanting” it for yourself. Of course, we ALL wanted to be away from that type of living! The biggest problem is that addicts want everything changed in the snap of a finger. Instant gratification. The hardest part about getting clean, and staying clean, is the willingness to put in the work. Congratulations on your 11 years! I really do hope Rebecca finds that sliver of hope and follows the yellow brick road…because Oz is so much better once you get there

@@carolnewlands8630 congrats on your 11 yrs as well & thank you & I agree homelessness can be 1 of the reasons shes not able to start her journey to recovery yet as well. I was homeless my self for a period of time & stayed when I could in our local Salvation Army or with friends. I know thats a luxury not afforded to some & doesn't seem to be the case in Rebeccas case(even when offered as Mark did) bc I was able to bath when I needed & had clothes which allowed me to find a job that I walked to daily until I could go, build, etc from there. While I wanted out & was over that life I was still physically dependant bc it was opiates/benzos, but molly/cr*ck/m*th doesn't have physical withdrawls (known many on each of those as well sadly) but its more what I call mental gymnastics, but I while I turned some aspects around like emlployment, etc I still was using to not withdrawl, once on my feet & my fam saw me actually walking the walk not just talking the talk it helped & thankfully I was never in situation as hers. But everyone's recovery is different & sadly I have been treated worse & spoken to terribly by some in recovery bc some seem to act better & forget they were once there too which is so sad to me that anyone in recovery no matter the level of hell or addiction could still judge, demean & ridicule another in recovery bc 1 thing I've learned what works for one may not work for another, but I never judge anothers journey bc idk what that journey included & what trauma they've endured. I do agree that ya have to get away from ppl, places & things bc thats just setting yourself up for failure & Imo feel like she still uses bc it takes her away from her current reality, but I also know that the handful of folks who expressed their concern, opinions, etc on my situation while still letting me know they were there is 1 of the reasons I am not 6 ft under rn bc addiction is a lonely,f*cked up road & a world full of users, ab*sers & evil theres no loyalty & no support so while I do agree she does need get away from the streets it also sadly has to be her choice & i'm thankful to those who still showed some kind of support when I was homeless bc feel like had I not had it I know I wouldn't be here typing this rn....After watching several of her interviews feel like Mark is probably the only 1 that still treats like a person. the ladies in the store in previous vid judged & dismissed her like she was less than which was heartbreaking...again congrats on your clean time thats amazing

At the very end of the video, Ismael tried his best to tell us the story of Ishmael, Isaac, and Rebekah, and how a young Egyptian boy named Ismail became a "trans" woman named Rebecca. Mark cut him off with some comment about not being "religious". It's a shame that we as adult Americans have become so ignorant about art & literature that we can't catch the literary clues that Ismael has been sending us for the past three years about his identity. Ismail is like Hansel & Gretel, dropping bread crumbs to lead his family and friends to find him and help him.

No one is debating that. No credible Dr would even entertain the idea of sx unless she was clean and working on herself w therapy. The social and economical factors that go into transitioning need to be taken seriously with medical intervention. She may not even be a candidate for sx due to her drug use. I’m sure she would have to get clean and remain clean and mentally healthy for a significant amount of time before a Dr would say yes to a consultation. Without having proper documentation she can’t travel to other countries so that is out of the question too. One step at a time.

Gender dysphoria is a real bitch. It's kind of surprising how Mark still seems, not hung-up on Rebecca wanting to be perceived as a woman, but that she TRULY feels DYSPHORIC in her body. He has no frame of reference so it seems to really stump him but it seems to me at least that Rebecca is suffering from intense gender dysphoria which is why she wants corrective surgery done. I think that's more than fair and it probably would increase her general mental health. Also shoutout Lars Von Trier the goat The House That Jack Built is his best movie.

Rebecca is in no position to have gender reassignment surgery. If you watch Jazz, she has to insert a medical device (can’t remember the name), in her vagina daily, to keep it from closing up. Rebecca couldn’t keep up with the maintenance.

  • @vanessaaac
    @vanessaaac ปีที่แล้ว +312

I think it would be really beneficial for Rebecca to hear things like “no one will hire you in this state”, “you will most likely stay homeless if you do not get sober”, “doctors will not allow you to get a sex change while on drugs because you can’t pass the mental checks while using”, etc. from someone other than Mark. Like maybe take her to a job recruiter so a professional in that field can tell her she won’t get hired like this to her face. Take her to rent apartments and see how many times she gets turned down because of her behavior caused by drugs. Take her to a sex change doctor for a consultation so that doctor can tell her a surgery like this will never happen unless she’s sober.
Rebecca truly believes that drugs are not the problem. And yes, there are plenty of people who use and work or do party drugs occasionally but that is completely different. She is too far gone to be part of that group. She is out of her mind and can’t control her body. She needs a serious reality check from professionals!
Edit: for real….WHO CARES if Rebecca wants to be called “she”?! It has nothing to do with anything! It doesn’t change anything! Like do you have a problem with trans people in general or just with Rebecca because she’s homeless and on drugs? It genuinely does not matter if she wants to be called she, he, tree, bee, etc. If she at some point decides to go back to “he” then I will call her “he”. Some of y’all get so riled up about the dumbest things! There are people starving, dying, being abused…worry about something else bc this is ridiculous! 😤

I know he's told her this. That's the point. She doesn't listen to Mark so maybe someone else she meets will get through to her just enough for her to have the profound realization that the drugs ARE the problem. Mark is just a random friend. He’s not a professional interviewing Rebecca for a job or a licensed doctor. I'm saying if she had someone who 1000% knew what they were talking about with a specific subject she might possibly listen a bit more than she would to mark.

Rebecca is a vibrant, brilliant woman who loves fashion and longs for stability. She wants citizenship, and a career, to see the world, and to be the best, most genuine version of herself. You can see her hope and determination in this interview. I truly believe she just needs the right opportunity… to be busy in things she loves instead of drugs.

  • @PammySyndee

Hey Mark, I have been watching your love, caring and kindness for unfortunate people here for a while, including Rebecca, who's behavior is obviously a result of her serious and possibly life-threatening addiction to meth.
You have a heart of gold.
A major concern is the possibility of permanent brain damage and psychosis from long-term use.
And you are correct about GRS; she wouldn't even be a candidate in her present state. She would have to be on hormone replacement therapy for a period of time, along with at least 3 psychological counseling assessments to even be considered. I'm sure her addiction would preclude her from any medical treatment for gender dysphoria.
Now, being trans myself, I just had to comment and clarify some of the things you had to say about GRS, or gender reassignment surgery.
Your description of "cutting off your some part of your body" is incorrect. The genitalia is surgically inverted to form a neo-vagina. Nothing is "cut off".
I think it's hard for people without gender dysphoria to understand the overwhelming drive to be congruent with your mind and body.
But, I can tell you from experience, that there is a marked improvement in quality of life, when you no longer have to struggle with these feelings, which are greatly alleviated with HRT, and for some, but not all, GRS as well.
I would highly suggest that you take a bit of time to research the issue of gender dysphoria.
Also, sexual preference is different than gender preference and identification.
And first and foremost, Rebecca needs to GET OFF THE METH!
Keep up the wonderful work with Rebecca, Mark; but beware, your kind, sweet gold heart can be broken, when casting your pearls to swine.
Much love to both you and Rebecca, for whom I wish all the best.

I have to be in a very particular frame of mind to be able to watch Rebecca's updates. It is heartbreaking and stressful to watch, to see the continuous cycle of drugs and mental health. The way Rebecca declares 'I just need a job', 'I just need a house', but you know neither of those things will ever happen whilst this lifestyle continues. And like Mark says, so much potential. And yet equally so incredibly fragile and with no real support to help make the changes that are needed to provide a better future.
