    A very well put together video Ben with informative narration of the steel train operations at Boston. Since I was last there, maybe ten years ago, there has been a big improvement to the trackwork from the sidings to the dock area. The 09 now flies across that swing bridge where I think it was a 2mph speed limit before. Mostly due to the track being about an inch higher on each river bank to the track on the bridge deck. The whole operation at Boston is quite labour intensive with the working of the sidings, manual working of the A16 crossing and the old A16 crossing near the swing bridge, not to mention the swing bridge itself. Another thing that I had not noticed perviously is the substantial signal post at Heckington next to the signal box. I guess it is all electronically operated. If you want to see how some of your video shots at Boston compare to the scene about 30 years ago have a look at these couple of videos.

      Thanks Mick. I knew you would find this video interesting as you have great knowledge of the history of Lincolnshire. I will add those 2 videos to my watch later list as I'm fascinated.
      Thanks as always. Regards, Ben

      @@benGBRf Always interesting when you film around the South Lincolnshire area as it brings back so many memories of things we saw but took for granted at the time. We used to walk around Boston Docks on a Sunday to see what ships where docked as it was all open, no security, fences and gates in those days, how things have changed.🙁

      Thank you for your kind words though. I'm always a bit skeptical about narrating over videos but I suppose sometimes it's OK to vary it up. Thanks again Colin. Take care and look after the good lady. Regards, Ben

    Excellent coverage of the movements at Boston Ben, must carry on watching.
    That 09 pushes them wagon across that road at a fair pace doesn't it, and I must praise you on your commentary which was very informative mate.
    This must have taken all afternoon to cover and It must create traffic jams, and I do remember the last time I was there possible late 90s was to cover a railtour but don't remember what locos were involved, and finally your editing of this great video was spot on, Cheers Mike.

    • @benGBRf
      @benGBRf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Mike. Yes the 09 wasn't messing around at times with its shunting. Good to see it working hard though as the loaded wagons must be very heavy.
      Yes I spent the afternoon at Boston but there was never really a dull moment as something was generally always happening and there was some traffic jams one of which a driver started moaning at me thinking I was causing it. I did suggest would he like hundreds of lorries going through the town instead. 😀
      Pleased you enjoyed it. Just working on the Atherstone and WO vids now so they should be up Wednesday and Next weekend.

      Thanks Ant. Both are basically Quarrington which is Sleaford. The road bridge in the background on both is the A15. The first shot on the East Side of the A15 looking west. The second shot on the West Side of the A15 looking east. Hope that makes sense. I literally live less than 5 mins from both.

    Hi Ben yes its great seing trains wizzing by but Love it when the is background Info or footage of what these trains do and carry how they are worked etc ........ shame you could not get into see the loading process .. was a great fan of the tick to ride video's/DVD they were europe baced made by a UK company finehorse produtions Tim Martin . they had very informative info on European fright and Guided me and my Pals to many locations in Europe to see fright ....... Keep up the good work ! Can I suggest a subject the felexstow branch /docks lots of good locations and fright ......10/10

      @benGBRf  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Tom. Yes it would have been great to see the loading process inside the docks. But I'm pleased you enjoyed this background info footage. I would love to do the Felixstowe Docks branch but that will require lots of planning and probably staying a night or 2 over that way. It's further away than you think from where I am.
      I decided to do Boston as its only 25 mins from me and I regularly see the train go past Sleaford as you know.
      Thanks Tom for your continued support. All the best. Ben

    Really good video there. Been to the docks crossing before but didn’t realise so much happened in the sleaford sidings. Might want to work on shortening the video at Heckington, the loco took 3 minutes to even turn up! Other than that, enjoyable throughout.

    • @benGBRf
      @benGBRf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Eddie. Yea I did wonder whether to cut down that Heckington shot but left it in so you could hear the signal box levers and bells working. Although the signaller did take his time letting it come through. Its amazing what happens in the Sleaford Sidings during the afternoon after it arrives. I was expecting it to be more simple. Not complaining though. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    nice video 1/ what the teddy bears name? 2/ why did the train get signalled passed the crossing before the barriers come down 3/ that one hell of a signal post at Heckington

    • @benGBRf
      @benGBRf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks John. In answer to your questions/observations.
      1. I'm not sure on the teddy's name I should have asked lol
      2. I'm not sure to be honest but I think the Dock workers that move the wagons between Sidings and Docks don't hang around
      3. Yes it is a big signal post. Heckington is lovely for semaphores crossing gates and of course the windmill which I will show more of in one of my future videos.
