Spot on sir!
Gotta love FB Marketplace deals!!
That large boost port on the right side of the engine indicate that if the cast iron piston steel sleeve, early version, of the engine. Great score! Later versions were ABN.
That's awesome to hear! I don't usually see a whole lot around here that's a "deal" on FB but I couldn't pass this one up. And I didn't care to have it shipped either.
Spot on sir
Those old FP engines always have run well for me. I fly a lot of the water and the FP is a great choice for that. There are no ball bearings to rust if you dunk it. I've had them flip upside down and the running engines pulls water into the crankcase. Take out the glow plug, spin it up with a starter and watch the water shoot out of the glow plug hole. Put the glow plug back in and get it running and let it run a good 5 minutes to make sure all the water inside is gone. I hit it after run oil to make sure nothing inside rusts. I've seen some pretty rusty crankshafts in the past.
I have heard nothing but good with these engines. Very interested to see it run. Now if only it'd warm up lol

Not a lot of power but very reliable. The LA series are very much the same as the FP engines.
Told ya Marvel Mystery oil and some heat is the key to freeing old motors. Great stuff that is. 190 degree F is right around normal operating temps if tuned properly. Using some good old ATF as after run oil helps a ton too with keeping motors in tip top shape. Just a few drops in teh carb and a few spins to get it into the crank case to delete moisture that is natural with using nitro fuels.
I have grown to love Marvel Mystery Oil. Good stuff!
I've been using MMO for 20+ years. Good stuff
