    Thanks for this Data. Right now im just a day to day Network Admin that deals mostly with a lot of switches in a large environment. I do some Call Manager and Unity too. I was trying to sort out my next path to prepare for Automation and Cloud. I was thinking AWS at first but I am really feeling this because it will help make me more valuable at my job and elsewhere. I have CCENT right now but I think this will really bridge the gap with the skills I have now and helping me get to the point where I can do so much more in a cisco enterprise or maybe even cloud environment. Gonna check this out.

      I think that’s a great call! It’s also an easier way to get the fundamentals of code and automation down because it will be using a familiar topic - networking!

    • @TheBeach5563
      @TheBeach5563 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes thats what I was thinking. The only thing is I dont see a lot of demand for it on the job board but then again its new and a lot of people dont understand it yet. I think as time goes on more people will see how valuable it can be. Looking forward to learning from you.

      True, HR and leadership haven’t caught up yet. But that doesn’t mean can’t automate and integrate now! Create efficiencies now and watch tour career take off

      Yea I can see it day to day because we have a guy that automates a lot of monitoring stuff on a Linux box. My boss was wondering if our server VMware guy could virtualize the box and maybe one of us can learn linux to be able to do a lot of that. Years ago I used to work in a data center with an application monitoring group and we used to use a tool called HP Loadrunner. The top programmer guy in our group used to show me some basic stuff on creating an app and creating automation scripts. I think it was C and C++ stuff. Anyway we have to start looking at Networking in a whole new way I guess. Im just getting tired of running all over a 700 acre refinery doing redundant stuff. Trying to steer my way through : )

      @@DataKnox I know its been a while but I just wanted to let you know that I am gonna take the Azure fundamentals test next week because one of the refineries our company aquired is using it and we have moved a few apps to it. I was gonna maybe do encore, then enauto then devcor but maybe I should jusd go devnet associate and then later ccnp devor maybe? Just wanted to get your opinion. Been really crazy because of COVID.

    thanks for the explanation and advices, Knox.
    Question: do you think it's ok to go for the CCNA devnet as a first Cisco certification? or is it better to take the "regular" CCNA fisrt?

    • @DataKnox
      @DataKnox  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It totally depends on your experience! If you have some Dev experience, it might actually be easier to tackle DevNet first. But if your end goal is to be a network engineer who can leverage automation, the CCNA is a must have

    Hey, question for you I don’t it’s an old video so I don’t know if you’ll see this or not but in the middle of some Linux studies right now I want to get those certifications done. I took my CCN back in 2013
    .
    I was planning on taking the definite associate, but was wondering should I retake the CNA first I even thought about just going over the material for the CNA, and then jumping into devnet.
    Then, if I enjoy it, I’ll take the NP of the definite so then all I need is the encore to get my CCNX those are your thoughts of any insight from anybody would be great. Just really wanna know if I should actually of take the new CCNE before jumping into this taking my next Linux exam in about a week.

    I'm ultra new to the world of IT. I have read 11 chapters of network plus and covered topics till IPV6. I'm changing my mind on my path as I'm going to hit A+, then CCNA, find a helpdesk job, then hit Devnet from CB nuggets; I'm already learning Python from Codecademy. Should I take a course in bash scripting and learn Linux(centos) as a prerequisite for Cisco Devnet?

      Well it has to be something that’s going to hold your interest. It’s a marathon - not a sprint. Something that you know you’re going to love for the long haul. Maybe that’s networking. Maybe it’s cloud. Maybe it’s sysadmin. Maybe it’s code. I always tell people to start with networking because if the network is broken, everything is broken

    Can you please explain how to integrate VSCode with Cisco Sandbox and with GNS3 if someone is using GNS3.
