      It’s about the intention behind wearing the makeup. Was it because she wasn’t comfortable in her own skin? Was she beginning to compare? Does she envy others? Does she seek to fit in to the crowd/the norm/society/culture(basically what everyone else does)?

    • @sbonelocele3711
      @sbonelocele3711 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That is illogical in so many ways, the mom is an adult and that is a child. Children should do things for their age, there is nothing wrong with a parent keeping their child in check. We have too many little babies running around acting grown and having to deal with grown up consequences, because of this new nonchalant parenting.

      I get what your saying, and sometimes that is the case and other times it's not. My mom never wore any make up, not even mascara lol and when I was in junior high I used to sneak and wear eyeshadow, etc. It doesn't always have to be modeled. I find that so annoying, this is not a personal attack on you btw. But I just wish we did better when it comes to dads being fully involved in every aspect of their children's lives. My mom passed away and I was left to basically raise myself and my little brother, not because my dad was absent. But because he had never learned how to descipline and frankly raise children. All of that had always been left to my mom to deal with, until she wasn't there. So I struggled trying to be my own parent while dad was learning that the little things concern him too.

      Danielle Doyle Wearing a little shimmer on her cheeks makes her daughter any less godly? Lol, strict parents create sneaky kids as you can see from her having to wear the makeup at school. She doesn’t have on a full face, you can barley tell she’s wearing it. Its normal for her being a teenager. She’s starting simple and small.

    • @danielledoyle7645
      @danielledoyle7645 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Maliyah Chasity no it’s not a parents fault that child sneaks off and tap into thing that they’re not supposed to. It’s out that child’s curiosity and disobedience that they go and do these things I hate when people blame parents for protecting they’re children from making mistakes and they go say they made the child “sneaky”. Even if she gave her all the freedom in the world if she wanted she would still go off and do what she wanted out her own curiosity. Please stop blaming parents for being “strict” like I said she’ll be thankful for it when she gets older

      shes 14 fuckin years old she should be able to play with make up i mean wearing it to school i could see why her mother would be mad but just playin around and wearing it around the house is really not a big deal. And yes strict parents cause sneaky kids I've had 3 friends from 3rd grade get pregnant by the age of 15 all because their parents never let them do anything, so they always snuck out. If they wouldve had a lil freedom maybe they wouldnt have turned out the way they did. Her mother shouldnt be that protective over making mistakes. You have to make mistakes to learn!!!

      A chu mon. As a 1st generation American child of Pentecostal Jamaicans, I can vouch. I was not allowed at any age to do even an 1/8 of what many of my American classmates were allowed to do. The list of restrictions was CVS receipt LONG. Pentecostal Jamaican kids at every age usually can't:
      --ever have even a hint of a bad mood without being abused ('Fix yuh face before mi fix it fi you" 🤔)
      -have an opinion or make decisions on pretty much anything, even when they get gifts or pay bills (as kids!) They would rather force their kids into severely uncomfortable or ABUSIVE situations than ever let them say no to an adult.
      - EVER dress themselves (yes, even when they're only months away from college.)
      -have sleepovers or go to them. Their hatred for sleepovers is serious.
      -even go to the corner store without them, unless you're their errand runner 🤔
      -wear fun WASHOUT colors in their hair
      -get less than an A+ grade in EVERYTHING
      They're basically treated like tools to improve their parents' lives instead of human beings and aren't allowed to have whole identities or express any individuality. They're raised to be exact replicas of their parents with only the good qualities smh. The parents preach about blindly following friends but choose a community that ostracizes anyone who doesn't question every decision they make when the congregation judges them. That kind of pressure is suffocating, and one reason I left church. I have my own sense of spirituality but I can't get with these religious made up ass rules, "sins" and exceptions that they make for themselves all the time while condemning others at every turn.

    If a parent has an age limit on when their child can wear makeup, then respect it. At 13 my child will only be able to wear lip gloss out the house and in modest colors only. I might let you play with it inside the house. Secondly, sneaking. and doing things without permission is always wrong no matter what it's about. Erica was right to address her the way she did.

    Mother's please don't talk to your young girls like this. All girls like to test out their mother's makeup. She could have said " Have you been wearing mommy's makeup?" But instead she calls the girl a thief accuses her of stealing and berates her like she is "mindless" person. The words you call your children stay with them. Black mother's are always trying to be cute and show off instead of being kind and gentle in moments like this. I don't watch the show but I can only imagine how this child probably is growing up feeling insecure.

      French Vanilla please stfu. Erica is an exceptional mother. Your dumb ass really thought she was calling her daughter a thief. She wasn’t serious and Krista knew that. They clearly have that kind of relationship. Where is she berating her? She’s just talking to her and letting her know her rules. That’s not berating. Notice Krista is smiling the entire time. She’s not embarssed or upset. In this moment she is kind and gentle. Stop projecting your own problems onto these people.

      My mom wore make up, but taught me to love my natural self. I wear make up every once in a blue moon at 36. 13 is too young for make up at the end of the day, and she knows that hence her stealing her moms make up, and hiding it. She also told her exactly right, you don't do things just because your friends do it. She doesn't want her to follow the crowd, she wants her to be her own person. I think she asked her if she loved herself, because in another episode she asked her mom if she was ugly, and told her boys didn't like her as much as they like her friends, because she is darker, and on the heavier side. I think she was just making sure there wasn't more to it. Sorry I wrote a book, lol.

Erica is an entertainer and a grown married woman, no comparison. Plus we don't see Erica all the time. For her business & in front of the camera I'm sure she has more days she doesn't wear it just to give her skin a rest. Momma Erica, you're right. Your daughter is beautiful and innocent. Keep her that way & help her develop a Strong sense of self so she won't be tempted to go with the crowd in other things. Finally a lot of what kids brag about isn't done & if you believe those who say they can get away with anything you'll believe the hype and be the one doing it and caught up while your friends aren't.

      L G It is hypocritical. Parents are raising their children in hypocrisy. That's not how you raised your child. If you going to teach your children, you must also practice what you preaches. Erica Campbell worship Satan and that's why she cannot raised her child in the admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ, because she is not with the Lord Jesus Christ herself.

    • @Mimi24177

      Sae Tae You absolutely correct. It is too many parents raising their children this way. They are not living righteous for the Lord Jesus Christ themselves, but trying to teach the child to do righteous, when they are not doing it themselves. Parents must do better they need to stop heeding to Satan and lived righteously for the Lord Jesus Christ themselves before they even called themselves raising a child.

    When you look at how Erica handled her when she was feeling less than because of her physical appearance (earlier in the season) I don’t agree at all with her mom in this scene. I was raised Christian - church all the time. I hid things from my mom because she had already put the fear in me - beatings, Hell, God. That fear is still in me today where I hide things from myself, I tuck it away because I don’t wanna feel shame or embarrassment. And I’m talking small shit - Christians send folks to hell for every thing. Parenting has lasting effects and I just wonder when black parents are gonna stop parenting through fear and parent through love and compassion.
    My moms parenting made it hard for us to connect, now we are so good but I can’t help but to think what kind of shit I could of avoided during my teens if I felt like my mom cared about me as a person to know I am flawed and I could come to her about anything.

    I remember these days .. I wasn’t allow to wear makeup in freshman year hs, I would go to school and put on mascara and then take it off before I got out. Phew child it was a process lol and makeup doesn’t mean you don’t like yourself my goodness or following crowd she said she thought it to be cute so yeah .

    I was wearing makeup at like 10, mate she’s got a tiny speck of highlight on, this is emotional blackmail, That girl is so kind and respectful to her mum she deserves a little bit of leeway. In a mother daughter relationship there’s no such thing as “stealing makeup” it’s borrowing because you are family? My mum always uses my makeup and I use hers we SHARE. Don’t tell your child they are going to hell.. This is toxic and in 5 years time when she is 18 she will want nothing to do with you if you are being like this as a parent, You support your child! “So you don’t like yourself?” Alright mum take your makeup off and show the world how much you like yourself! Wow that is plain rude. This is your daughter and the person who will look after you in old age not some sort of maid!!! I’m shocked really the way the mum spoke to her daughter wow.
