*Let me guess, do you have a knock in your engine?
When it comes to anything that would warrant you to remove a part that affects timing--always turn your crank to the "T" timing mark. You should see a "T" on the cast housing and there will be a tiny mark or divot on the pulley.
Once the oil pan is removed there will be 4 star shaped bolts that secure the pump to the bottom of the crank housing. You need to remove these (they are rather long once you get them out.) Leave one of these star shaped bolts in but loose so you can remove it using your fingers.
Next, look at the timing chain that drives the oil pump shaft--there are two "orange" colored chain tensioners that hold the chain on the sprocket. I loosen one bolt on the left side tensioner, this allows you to move the tensioner away from the chain. Leave the tensioner that is closest to the front of the vehicle in place
**Please make sure to make an orientation mark on the chain and a correlating sprocket. This will make sure that you reassemble the pump correctly.
Next, support the oil pump with one hand and remove the last bolt--this will allow you to drop the pump and then tip the pump so that it comes out of the chain.
