Lego technic has defenitly improved the latest years!

    • @ivoschaerer3023
      @ivoschaerer3023 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I disagree with that.
In the past, the cars illustrated and explained the technology. They were functional models.
Today the few functions are hidden under many panels. There are only display models.

@@ivoschaerer3023 Apart from the latest mclaren sienna most technic models show a lot of mechanical technology with steering, differential and pistons even in the most basic models. You have to be the builder to see the magic tho.

@@dborgstedt the old black Supercar from the 90’s had four wheel drive, four wheel suspension and four wheel steering, plus the V8 engine and working gear box and pop up headlights.
The old car chassis from the 80’s had fully adjustable seats, which no model has had since. Also a flat four working engine where you actually had to build the con-rods and crankshaft, unlike later models where the bits are all special moulded parts. The earlier versions also had shock absorbed/spring units which you made yourself. It also had a 3-speed gearbox and it was all exposed and easy to see and learn about mechanisms and how it all worked.
I love my Porsche GT3 RS but you can hardly see any of the workings once it’s built. Great as a display model but not great for a kid to actually play with.
I definitely prefer the older models and in many cases, they had more functionality.
The Ferrari Enzo didn’t have much in the way of functions but they at least gave it fancy opening doors with a cool little release mechanism.
The Porsche just has very basic doors.
I’ve also noticed a definite reduction in quality over all with Lego. Some of the components of late don’t feel to be of the same quality of the older bricks.
Put them side by side and you can feel the difference. I’ve noticed with how the clips/pins click in for example. The plastic feels slightly inferior and the edges are sharper on some parts.
I’m always buying new sets and notice the difference with the new ones.
There’s also a lot more variance in colour with newer bricks too!

@@R1CH130 I still have the supercar in the attic. My kid are 4 and got the orange corvette, it feature a differential, a very siplyfied v8 and steering in a ok playaable size. I think I was 15 when the supercar came, no way i had a chance building that when i was 4. The difference in instructions are ridiculus.
Well, point is that the modern cars are good looking, playable and shows the basic mechanic. Don't know if the plastic on the supercar has dryed or something but it breaks all the time - no playability..

@@R1CH130 8880 was, and still is a legend in the Super Car line. Everything changed with Lego after 2004, before was all about quality, innovation and user experience, after the company almost went under it was all about cost cutting and making profit. In the late 80s to early 2000s there were a lot of smaller 'universal sets' that offered great value and functionalities, and flagship releases were not colossal bank breakers. Nowadays is mostly about IP/OEM showcases that either "Go Big or Go broke", compare to the old days Technic kind lost its charm when it comes originality and innovation.

No it's definitely better than the old ferrari sets because it has improved versions of the old set's features and looks hell of a lot better, if you're comparing it to the big 1:8 scale sets( 42056, 42083 & 42115) then remember that it's half the price
