I'm a 41 year old dude that has been listening to Deftones since '95 and let me tell you, I'm loving all of the love Deftones are getting from your generation. White Pony doesn't miss, not once, not never.
So a little context on Pink Maggit and Mini Maggit mix; the label said they had to make a single for the radio so they took a chunk of Pink Maggit and fucked it all kinds of trendy at the time thinking it wouldnt get much airplay. The label pushed it to the point that they butchered the CD, it used to start with Feiticeira. Also, the cool thing about continuing forward with their albums, is that you can hear Around the Fur through all of them. One song on every album is Around the Adrenaline. At some point, if you swing back and listen to Adrenaline, it really drives home how much they transitioned through subgenres of rock.
this was such a wakeup call to me cause im a big deftones listener but i never went full send into listening to their entire discography or looking into album narratives... ive been on a huge sleep token lore kick because i LOVE media that tells a nuanced story, and i never realized deftones really did that to this exent !! i love your commentary on the meanings too, its so common to listen to music and not really analyze the lyrics but it adds to the experience so much. amazing video lad

Deftones actually covered a song from each band... "Please, please, please let me get what i want" by The Smiths & "If only tonight we could sleep" by The Cure. Both songs appear on their "Covers" album.
feiticeira is portuguese for sorceress/enchantress. fun fact: chino named the track after seeing a magazine cover featuring brazilian 90s TV celebrity Joana "Feiticeira" Prado, who is said to have inspired the lyrics as well
Hey man, not Deftones related, but could you react to Alexisonfire self titled album from 2001/02? They're a "screamo/post-hardcore" band from Canada, imo it's a beautiful album and has a nice difference of soft and intense parts. It's so good, pleasssssseeeeee react to it man. Everybody reacts to their newer, not good, stuff but no one reacts to their older stuff. 🤘🤘😮💨
