Thank you. You've helped me succeed. I was unable to detach the video cable from the motherboard and I was able to zoom in and see how the clip mechanism worked. I needed to press/pinch the clips in. My issue was that the metal part of the clip that you press had moved out of the plastic part of the clip, I had to press it back in and all was good.

That’s amazing, thanks for sharing the instructions , it’s very helpful
I decided to upgrade my iMac mid 2011 and replace the hard drive with a ssd and decided to clean it since I bought it from someone
after I put everything back , the screen wouldn’t come on
Unfortunately after a couple of tries the lcd cable that you just replaced shown on the video the pins bend
it’s so tiny and without proper lighting it’s hard to see and it can either bend or break Finally I put the the screws back together along with the glass cover so I can put it away so I noticed the glass cover was not properly place on the bottom so it cracked in half when I pulled it trying to remove it , yeah it sucks
It was perfect but now I have to order the ribbon and the glass panel
You always have to be extra careful when handling apple products whether they’re newer or older
It’s always a challenge when it comes to this machines
Luckily there’s many helpful TH-cam tutorials this days , it just requires patience, some knowledge and extra caution

I've attempted repair & upgrade on my 2011 iMac 21.5" -- NOT easy (I spent many years in electronics repair): Poor eyesight, fat fingers & no prior experience dismantling & reassembling an iMac.
I cannot get the display data connector to attach to the logic board, & can't find any resource online to help me comprehend how to do this.
    Someone please help!!!

🤦🏻‍♀ Re: the 3rd cable that you put back in....somehow the connection it fits into is bent! 😱 😔 Any suggestions? I'm so stressed! ie: the tiny plug on the logic board 😩

Nicely done. I somehow bent my cable pins and damaged right side locking mechanism onboard connector for lvd cable. Any suggestions?

It's a pain in the ass to change this flat cable. I just ordered another one, because I broke that sh*t when a was changing my HDD to an SSD

Does anyone have a closeup image of how the LVDS cable attaches to the mother board. It pulled before I saw how it connected. ie from the top or straight in (perpendicular to the motherboard) or from the bottom....I going nuts.

From the TOP and then Lock Down by pressing from top downwards, slowly...so your finger is effectively following a circular direction the size of a coin...I know as I have taken my 2010 21.5-inch iMac part frequently and the design of this Apple desktop has continued to be purposefully awkward with short cables when they could provide a fold over cable to enable a concertina effect of opening wide...APple are bastards for doing this and it just gets worse...I have a few of them. When buying second user go two OWC for best price and real workshops and try to buy the i7 and get 4 Mb on your graphic card...

Is the cable the same on a high sierra I am having the same problem

High Sierra is an operating system. There are a lot of PCs that have High Sierra. Look at the back/bottom of your computer and see if there is a model number or year (like A1311 or Mid 2011). Then say what model number you see.

20230820 15 comments --- it happend to me, but as shown here it is easy to replace that cable .... but i damaged de first one to be dissemsambled, the upper left one, a true and real nuissance .... and no one have a tutorial as this cable goes deep inside the lcd display and i did not take notice of what part number it was .... and now the whole thing is gone ....

Clearly they used that type of cable so you'd break it. Must be the cruddiest style video cable ever.

Unrealistic.... The seller of the cable didn't send you the wrong part the first time 🤨
