man the difference in damage is insane. for a while i thought jackie was winning but her face told a different story by mid to end. the jump over the leg sweep and her balance in general is impressive. that girl is going places
Smilla has that quality you see in most champion fighters and that is the ability to remain calm and focused in the midst of the storm. Great fight by both fighters.

Calm she looks down right happy to be there and having fun , shes brutal and terminator scary but the look on her face all happy is the scarriest thing about her .

@@jamesaldrich9754 I am not sure how many fights do you have, but Rodtang spoke so highly of Smilla after sparring with her. He said Smilla has very heavy punches and she will surely go places. He did not mention anything about her hight advantage. So, he did not think Smilla is a good fighter because she is tall but because she is a heavy puncher.

Sundell has the fight IQ of a 20 year veteran of the sport, the power and conditioning of a prime fighter, and the speed of a teenager. If I were in or near her division, I'd be worried for the next few years.

no way, it's just her height advantage, she couldn't land punches because jackie is faster, she only lands when they're inclinch and that because her arms are too long and one arm is holding jackie's head. she still not a fast fighter. same height opponent she'd be in trouble

Sayang di sa laahta ng oraas sana sa weight ang basehan kasi parang tangang matchup to napakalugi pero grabe yung puso ni Buntan. I was really rooting for Jackie, but this full fight really painted the whole picture. Great fight by both of them!
Smilla is easily 177 or 178cm, not 173, as her stats say. Her arms are so damn long, that when Jackie backed off 2 steps, Smilla could still hit Jackie with her jab. As she hits her 20’s, she’ll most likely have to move up a weight class. At, 5’9”, It’s gonna get harder to maintain 125lbs or less as she matures.

last night'sperformance had me grabbing on my seat. I am team jackie, but admired Sundell's performance. The girl's a legend. A champ at 17. The first two rounds were a close fight, the rest had Jackie beat up real good. These two fighters tough as hell. looking forward for a rematch🔥🔥💪
Imo the only close round was 3. 1-2 easily buntan, 4-5 easily smilla. In round 3 smilla was the aggressor but missed so many shots because of buntan great defense. I think the story was mainly told by the damage, of which buntan sustained significantly more

I am not sure Buntan’s coaches prepared her to fight a much taller opponent. She rarely threw body shots and they were open for her to attack. She should watch Rodtang vs Haggert. Her knee guard was a joke as it made her exposed to elbows. She was better off bear hugging Sundell and let the ref break them up. She is a talented fighter but her coaches did not have a good game plan or adjust during the fight.

You just got the whole gist of the fight. Her coaches underestimate Sundell and failed to prepare her to fight a taller opponent
The height & reach clearly were the great advantage, not to mention her skills is there too.

I was afraid for Smilla going into this fight.
Maybe I should start feeling sorry for the people who have to fight her!
Looking at her record it is definitely time to worry for her opponents. She has fought adult opponents since she was 14 and still have a 39-5-1 record with 21 stoppage. I think a lot of people, me included, underestimated her before this fight. Looking at her older fights it looks like they've given her easy opponents to boost her stats and make Yodel Muai Thai gym and now Fairtex look good. It seem like it looked like that because she just was that much better than the other once. She moved from Koh Samui because she was too good to find any opponents.
Everyone previously said that Buntan would definitely beat Smilla Now that Bunton loses they said Smilla has a height advantage Ok...

@ [SOS]...Being taller, of course Smilla had the obvious physical advantages of height and longer reach with her arms and legs, none of which deny her teriffic skill and ability as a fighter though.
Buntan looked so good the first couple rounds, and then it was just all Sundell.
This young lady really impressed me in this fight. Unbelievable pressure from the start and unrelenting. Took some good shots but stayed calm and focused and stuck with the plan. Good skills strong chin and an unbelievable ceiling on her future.
A champion at 17?!?! Her weight class should be nervous. 😳

One of the most brutal female fights I've seen.
Jackie has some very nice skills, I adore her ability to parry and counter. But her reliance on it and using more looping shots to the head that generally bounced off Smillas guard needs to be adjusted.
But considering that was her first main even style fight Jackie did great, Smilla just has the skills and endurance to do this a long time and be a terror.

Are you saying ONE Muay Thai rules allow you control the hand by only using the material of the glove, like Buntan did?

Too big and strong. Jackie is very skilled but skills alone wont beat this girl. Shed be at least a few weight classes above in a few years. Good luck to anyone who fights her.

Overrated? Nope. Jackie had the skills to give Sundell a good fight. It was the Physical advantages that Smilia had over Jackie that made the difference. Mag isip isip muna huwag yung bibitaw agad ng salita na hindi naman kayang mapanindigan.

Some good commentary. Buntan's had problems with longer opponents. And really height, reach in the same weight class gives you a big advantage. I'd approach this fight differently and use more boxing whenever Sundell comes forward. The straight shots and pressure wore on Buntan.
Yea, but jackie had a huge speed and power advantage. Just like Mike Tyson, very dominant champion regardless of everyone being taller than him. But I believe Smila's pressure was the main problem for Jackie, compared to Tyson people had respect for his power and would not pressure him like this. But Smila had no respect and kept pressuring through everything she threw at her eventually it zapped jackies energy and power.
Height and reach can give you an advantage, but it is not that straight forward (coming from a taller person). A taller person is easier to hit (because taller body!). A shorter person can more easily dive under punches (of course a bit more relevant for boxing). You have to be really good to use your height/reach advantage. Besides Jacky is used to fight taller opponents and does the job very well normally.

She didn’t use her jab or her jab to the body like she did in round 1 and she kept going for unnecessary sweeps instead of going to the body.. she focused too much on hooks and power shots
@@astroboy1207 Numerous jabs to the face might have tempered her choice. The Swede was better in every category and , importantly, MUCH MORE FIT. She dominated rounds 4 and 5.

I didn't notice it at first but some Thai commenters in another video made a good point, the referee didn't want Smilla to win, every time she had Buntan in a favorable clinch with her neck down about to deliver a knockout knee to the chin, the referee wouldn't let her and immediately separated them, this happened more than a few times, the only times he let Smilla stay in the clinch was when Buntan was in no danger of getting hurt, the Thais are right, that referee needs to be banned from Smilla's next fight
He also let Buntan hold on to her gloves virtually every single clinch. Didn't think that was allowed in MT. But then again, if the ref allows it is ok I guess... Worked great as a defence since it is hard to hit if you can't move your hand.

9:17 Buntan grabs Sundell's right glove and holds on to it for about an hour. Even the commentator's notice. Ref watches and thinks about the beer he'll have after the match. No warning.
10:01 Buntan searches for Sundell's left glove.
11:19 on the replay we can see the blatant glove grab and hold, it seems Buntan's been practicing grabbing the gloves as an integrated part of her knee guard defense, otherwise she would've been wide open to elbows. We can see Sundell frustrated feeding her with left straights instead. Also 11:44 replay on Buntan trying to grab the glove.
13:02 Buntan grabs Sundell's left glove, ref looks on and breaks them up without a warning.
14:07 Buntan grabs Sundell's right glove, ref looks on and breaks them up without a warning.
14:30 Buntan tries to get her fingers under Sundell's left glove, stops her strikes for a second.
17:10 Buntan grabs Sundell's left glove. Loses the grip after a couple of second and tries to find the glove again at 17:17. Ref does nothing.
Disgraceful job by the referee.

It's an Asian fighting league. They are biased for Asians. It's okay. The Nords are built better and we overcome the bias.
The coach directing Buntan to move to her left was not a very good idea. Or maybe the coach has a bet on the other side.
I think it was to get away from Smilla's jab. In theory a good idea, but didn't work out. To be honest I don't think they could have had any plan that would have changed the result.
Given Sundell's age she is very impressive. Will be interesting to see how she does moving forward.

One thing I learned, when your opponent is taller than you, go for a close up. That will weakened their reach and punches. Butan was giving Sundell all the advantage by keeping that kind of distance.
But an was not “giving “ her the advantage.. Smilla was creating it
The scary thing with Smilla is that she's even better in close range than on the outside. I've watched just about every fight I can find of her from her. Her mother has posted at least one round of almost all her Koh Samui fights on her Facebook. Most of her KO's is either by knee in the clinch or a left hook body shot on the inside.
Close-up? Sundell is great in clinch as well! You don’t want to feel her knees in your stomach or her elbows on your head.

Fun Fact: Most swedish people doesn't even know she's a world champion right now and their sport channel and news doesn't even mention her at all
I was happily surprised she is mentioned in a lot of news paper media today and even did a short interview on a morning show on tv this morning. But yeah, not very many know who she is. The only martial arts in the media seem to be UFC now a days.
She definitely deserves more accolades for her amazing accomplishments. She’s born in Sweden and moved to Thailand at a young age, also Muay Thai is not as popular as mma. I hope she trains with Alexander Gustaffsen or Khamzat Chimaev one day.

Got to admit, I really didn't see this result coming. I thought Jackie would dominate, given the other performances she has put on in One Championship, and since Smilla is just 17. Great performance

It’s not Smilla that is tall, it’s Jackie that is short and chubby. She should drop a weight class.
To all commentators that are feeling sore about Puntan losing to Smilla -> Stop giving excuses. Same weight class, slightly more height and reach advantage. Look at Puntan's thighs circumference and compare with Smilla? Smilla is like a bag of bones. Anyway, Puntan blocked too many of Smilla's punches with her face. That is why she lost. Mike Tyson or Senchai is short too but does that stop them from beating up taller opponents? Learn to accept defeat fairly and gracefully.
The commentators were so biased .. one even says buntan was “so dominant”. They waxed lyrical about Jackie even when it was obvious she was basically in defence mode from the first bell

Jackie has said she wants a rematch, but I wonder. She pretty much hit Smilla with everything she had in the first few rounds, and Smilla didn't even blink. I think Jackie got saved by the bell in the third. The next match might be far worse for her.
Yeah I can't see how she would get a W against Smilla. This was her after running 20 Km in the morning and been a bit sloppy with the warm up. She said in a Swedish interview the other week that she was stiff and felt fatigue from running in the first two rounds and that by 3rd she started to feel properly warmed up. I think Buntan did a great job considering it was her 4th professional fight against Smilla's 40-ish. It is big difference growing up fighting amateurs in California vs the best in Thailand.

Good fight but ain't impressed with Buntan because she kept hooking Smillia's gloves/wrists too many times and that annoys the fk out of me but I admires Buntan for knowing the fact that Smillia is deadly with her knees so Buntan found a way to defend the knees. Smillia did good and have strong chin .

Quicker definitely. More skilled? Smille put on a classic thai style master class. It doesn't happen often that you such a clear clash between western and thai Muay Thai. Most westerners have trained at least a bit thai style for this very reason. If a thai fighter can walk you down, she will. If she can't she will knee and elbow you. If she has to take a few hits to get it done, she will. Look at someone like Rodtang or Buakaw. They take a LOT of hits in most of their fights, but does it to get where they want to land their heavy punches. Jackie is probably be a more skilled boxer than Smilla, but this is Muay Thai.

There is always the danger of the knees when giving a liver shot
@@DicDeryn You take the steam out of a pressure fighter by going to the body early, make them think twice about throwing a million punches a round when every exchange they are having to eat body shots.
