Kobe 02-03 in his absolute prime. He gained more muscle up top and got bigger compared to last year. His outside shot, mid range game, and attack on the basket was the greatest throughout his entire career. Had he been the number one option this year as opposed to Shaq, he would've dropped at least 35ppg, just like in 2006.....I mean Shaq was injured for a month during this year and KB AVERAGED 40 POINTS PER GAME FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH!
***** Ya and too bad Shaq decided to delay his foot surgery during the summer, which caused the Lakers to play poorly in the beginning of the season and as a result end up with the 5th seed in the playoffs....or else who knows, they might have won 4 in a row..
Garth Andrews it's close but 06 he was on a bad team and the #1 scoring option. 02-03 he was the second scoring option behind shaq and was ave 30ppg and 40ppg during a 1 month stretch. He set the record for most 3 pointers in a gm with 12 and 9 straight. He was a bit younger too and had most of his greatest dunks ever.
Kobe was at his absolute zenith in 2007. After the All Star break in the 06-07 season, he went nuts. He had 7 50pt games in 1 calendar month.
This is how I view it.... in 2003, Kobe was ATHLETICALLY his best ever. He literally looked like he could finish ANY dunk, get by ANY defender (or defenders) with one step. And his footwork was the quickest I ever saw. From 2008-2010, He was his best as a leader, and just being a SMART team player -- his clutch play and experience in the playoffs was Jordanesqe. 2006 was the PERFECT hybrid between the two. He was (almost) as athletic as he was in 03, but his skill and experience was high enough that he had matured more since then. That's why he was the most unstoppable. 2007 he was _similar_ to what he was in 06, but he looked different to me. He wasn't as explosive athletically but he seemed SO FREAKING under control, his fundamentals were incredible. I feel like each season Kobe was adapting to his body (injuries and surgeries) which is why he looked different each year. If his body didn't have any issues at all (ie Lebron) MY GOD.... the player he could have been.
So agree him
Who's here after the terrible news. So sad to hear. R.I.P Kobe Bryant. The greatest.😢☝.
#1 play behind the back dunk is my favorite Kobe play of all-time.
That's because it's one of the best improvised basketball moves of all time.
still one of the craziest dunks I’ve seen live to this day...
I agree with that
That Robert Horry pass was insane too
Him and tmac was on fire this season
#1 is iconic and my favorite Kobe dunk! The commentator was on point, “ Ohhhhhh what did I just see????!!!!!” It’s a signature move that only Kobe could pull off so effortlessly. This was sooooo beautiful. Absolutely necessary poetry in motion!
This is the year he became the best player on the planet. 30, 7, and 6 at 24 years old. Crazy shit. Ran the league too until Bron went to Miami with Wade and Bosh
What's amazing as you watch these Top 10's is you can actually see the evolution of Kobe as he is today. Both in his skill set, explosiveness, and physique. He always adds something to his game every year, and these videos are proof to that.
can we all agree that kobe should have more mvps
DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY
During the 2002-2003 NBA season, Kobe Bryant delivered an exceptional performance for the Los Angeles Lakers. Over 82 games, he averaged:
Points: 30.0 per game
Rebounds: 6.9 per game
Assists: 5.9 per game
Field Goal Percentage: 45.1%
Minutes Played: 41.5 per game
These statistics underscore Bryant's significant role in the Lakers' success during that season. Notably, he was selected to his fifth All-Star Game and earned his first NBA scoring title.
For a visual recap of Kobe Bryant's 2002-2003 season highlights, you can watch the following video:
This was probably kobe's best season ... he averaged *32pts per game* and had some of the best plays of all time ... #Legend
no he averaged 30pts tracy averaged 32
+JIX9ISLER1986 Without Shaq, Kobe would average 38+
JIX9ISLER1986 Yeh and TMac averaged 32 while making it look easy than anyone ever. Remember in 02 when apparently he slept on a home game and his teammates called to wake him up minutes before the game and he dropped 40 that night. I remember it in the newspaper. No dude could drop 50 plus and look like he wasnt even trying like TMac.
This os the best player I had ever seen this kobe vs 88 mj would have been a duel
Kobe may have been a more 'complete' player during '06-09... but his true and only complete prime year we witnessed was during the 2002-2003 season when he averaged 30 6 and 6. Let's not forget he also had 2.2 steals and shot 38% from 3 that year as well (both of which he never came close to ever again).
2003 was the only year we saw a true and complete Kobe. He had the athleticism, the dunking ability, the speed/quickness, the 3-point shot, the mid-range, and the defense.
'04 saw him decline due to the legal issues, '05 he was injured, and by '06 season you can tell he didn't have the same explosiveness. He averaged 35 ppg but relied heavily on his mid-range jumper and post game. And if he did explode, it was only in short bursts.
R.I.P. Kobe Bryant.
If ya watch games of kobe in the early 2000s he was more athletic than lbj had a way better jump shot even that early in his career had pretty good footwork and a fadeaway jumper mid range attacked the basket as great as anybody.. Lbj without his athleticism will take a quicker nose dive than kobe because lbj doesn't have a consistent jumper not a good free throw shooter he doesn't even use his post game How everyone was raving about all summer...
captain save LeHoe He wasn’t more athletic than LeBron, maybe faster at some point, better body control for sure we see this in Kobe’s acrobatic dunks and layups, but explosiveness, strength and vertical leap even handsize and frame, Bron has the clear advantages. Both are elite athletes but LeBron is about a step in that regard. And Kobe Bryant was injury prone. Kobe has him beat in every fundamental skill however and him being able to perform at an elite level with injury riddled seasons speak to his skills. Kobe also had all the damn moves.
@@samuel2pac72 but let's make sure we come to Kobe's stuff and make sure we put LeBron's name there, he wasn't better, Kobe was way better, LeBron just had better teammates, and he could ride their coattails, a 1on1 matchup Kobe destroyed LeBron, they ask Kobe who would win on a one-on-one matchup and Kobe just automatically said me, they asked LeBron and LeBron couldn't even answer the question right away cuz he know he can't beat Kobe one-on-one, what a joke but let's do the greatest thing LeBron ever did give me my damn respect the only NBA player to ever beg for respect
Great video, but they forgot his dunk against the Knicks in the Garden when he went baseline.
Yeah I was looking for that one.....he straight disrespected Sprewell, LOL
0:43 oh my god one of the most underrated dunk
a 360?
@@vika0194 poster?
Noah Oh That’s a solo dunk.
@@vika0194 with Jason Williams right on his tail?
Noah Oh A poster is when you dunk on someone...
This is a HORRENDOUS top 10. SO MANY great plays missed
this are the times you would wish for a time machine
Kobe's explosive moments
In the 2002-2003 Kobe was a top 2 player, no doubt.
Best player I've ever seen
Kobe could have won mvp in this season
#1 for life, best move I have ever seen.. mindblowing!
His game & his attitude really matured by this season.
Kobe Bryant will be fondly remembered for his Top 10 Plays of the 2002-2003 NBA season because he had lost his life in a helicopter crash in 2020.
funny how people now days say curry or who ever else is better than kobe ever was.. must be dreaming cause aint no curry posting anyone up like kobe ever did or anything like he did? this game is all flopping, shooting three's and jumping on new bandwagons.. 👏👏
Kobe got probably the best footwork in nba history, either him or olajuwan
Kobe is always a threat even when he's on the bench.
the last play was really awesome, just genius
I remember seeing #1 live. So smooth.
RIP Kobe Bryant 😓🙏🏾
Kobe's best season of his career.
The baseline dunk in MIN is still, to this day, one of the sickest in game dunks of all time
Hello im 9 years ahead of time. How's your day?
Hate to break it to ya, Kobe died.
This was video was made when I was 3 and 4 days until my birthday noice
Nice comparason....
Lebron 28 with wade bosh and allen(who saved his ass in game 6 of 2013 finals) with Kobe who had NO ONE in his prime....
You guys obviously never seen what this man has done from 2005-2008 including outscoring the mavs in 3 quarters or 81 points shooting 60%......
The funny thing is Lebron still is putting much better overall numbers than Kobe in his prime even with those guys on his team... 27 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists with a good amount of steals and blocks... The only place where kobe outdoes him is at scoring, even in his prime kobe couldnt do that
bballislife7158 dw kids lebron hasn't got a non athletic game once he gets older he gonna sag out of the picture
bballislife7158 LeBron is just stats
bballislife7158 When you surround yourself with great players it opens yourself up to do great things. LeBron plays the 4 spot, sometimes 5 spot so yes he is going to get rebounds. LeBron plays with a bunch of guards and then Bosh so yes he is going to be in transition more and get a ton of assists. The points, any great player will score points. It isn't all about the stats. Kobe has actually had to battle injuries in his career whereas LeBron has not. LeBron has only played 1 season under 65 games and that was the nba lockout season. Kobe has played 5 seasons under 65 due to injuries and 2 more seasons of low minutes his rookie years bringing his averages waaayyy down. Rookies back in the day, didn't start immediately like they do now.
@@anttwo123 Your take aged worse than you thought LBJ would.
averaged 30.0 points, 6.9 rebounds,and 5.9 assists
that was an MVP season
pure poetry
by far his best season
The year Kobe said he mastered his game.
HAPPY BDAY KOBEEEEEEEEE
Happy Birthday to a legend
No way. 2002-03 was his best overall season. He averaged 30 points ,6 assists, 7 rebounds.
And 1 rape
Kobe is Top 5 all time I don't care what nobody says
Kobe 2002/03 stats:30.0 ppg,7.0 rpg,6.0 apg,2.2 spg,1.0 bpg.
Duncan 2002/03 stats:23.3 ppg,13.0 rpg,4.0 apg,0.7 spg,3.0 bpg.
Who was the MVP?
Julio Ernesto Moreta Castillo kobe??
Kobe should've been the MVP imo
lebron has been the best in the league for no more than 3 yrs honestly. in 2010 kobe was clear cut best in the league
2011 it became a discussion
thank you
Kobe was jacked in the 2002-2003 season
Happy Birthday Kobe!
forgot to mention most first team all nba selections ever. goat with mj
💔🏀🌍🏀💔
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Love you forever,
KOBE BRYANT!
#1 was the best kobe play of all time
Number 2 was Nasty
Legend.
Dunk #2 and #1 are the greatest dunks in NBA history
R.I.P KOBE
heiley Boisvert lmao.
I think it's the season where he took it to the next level
Every season the bench gets a little more hyped
That #2 dunk with Kevin Harlan's commentary is perfect. And #1 is fucking sick, too!
1 & 2 are nasty !!
Who else had a Blue Moon ad at the beginning of these Kobe top 10's
BUCKLE UP FOR KOBE BRYANT!!!
thank you, you sir a VERY smart
I agree with that 100%.
The last one was insane
Anybody else on a Kobe top 10 marathon?
That is true, you are 100% right :)
awesome...
Ray Allen is arguably the best spot shooter in the NBA and Bosh can still go for 20+ on any given night. Dwayne Wade fell off a little this year just cause of injuries but he still played good and I'm sure he'll come back strong next year. I don't hate LeBron either I just don't like people saying he did it alone when he didn't.
this was the year he subplanted shaq as the numer 1 options for the Lakers
MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Bird. Lebron, Hakeem Tim Duncan, Shaq, Bill Russel, Oscar Robertson, Moses Malone, Karl Maloe, Jerry West...
Kobe is the mann
I remember the no. 1 play like it was yesterday
Why does everyone has to fight about these 2 players, they are both great in there own way. But if there was a choice i would have to say kobe because he is really good at every thing. Kobe bryant has had way more experience he had a dad who played in the NBA and tought young Kobe everything he knew. Kobe bryant could shoot 3 pointers when he was 6... 6!!!
Kobe be blazin
People can keep hating him but we all know he's better than any player. He is the only one that's close to MJ
happy birthday kobe
what a perfect pass to Kobe on #1. dat Tom Brady throw
Can't we just stop this everlasting discussion? Michael, James and Kobe are the faces of the NBA over the past 30 or so years. The only comparison you can make is that all three of them dominated the game in their prime. You can not compare stats because the game changed over time and the amount of other incredible players is not always the same. It's not stats, mvp's or rings, it's the general performance that counts. Why not enjoy the talent instead of being stubborn and compare?
The best
That Last Dunk Made Me Jump Up Like I Was There
You know what I just realized, the old Lakers is sorta how the heat play now
nah the heat in 2006 where like these Lakers. You had:
J. will = D. Fish
D. Wade = Kobe
Antonio Walker = Rick Fox
Shaq = Shaq lol
Harnoor Singh PLEASE! Shaq wasn't Shaq. Shaq wasn't Shaq of old. D Wade won that crown chief.
Yeah, just better.
Not even close, those lakers would murder the heat of today.
no
Kobe weight was up this year. He slimmed down tho to keep his speed
Kobe at 28: 3 Rings 0 Mvps 0 Finals Mvps Lebron at 28:2 Rings 4 Mvps 2 Finals Mvps Who is better again?
Yes!
If kids these days watch this video, they will know who is the real Kobe.
Btw Kobe's rockin the AJ's that year!
I don't care all his plays are NUMBER ONE to me
Kobe owned the 00s
agreed. id say lebron is more versatile because of his size and speed, but for all round skills, kobe is just as good, if not better
great.........
Happy Birthday Black Mamba
R.I.P. Kobe
wtf..?
#1.......God dammm!!
the mamba in dominican republic the best player
Kobe ftw
Kobe wearing the Iverson sneakers, @ play #5. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Number 1
I ain't seen lebron do 1 or 2. Kobe's game is way more finessed than lebron. Kobe is an actual baller.
0:40 Rick Fox should've been an NFL Quarterback
KOBE BALL-GOD
Another interpretation of an all around player is versatility in positions he can defend and play. Most teams would be happy with Lebron at anywhere from point to the 4. He is also able to guard most players (excluding centers) in the NBA.You could respond with "but remember when..." and list a situation when kobe blocked a big man but Lebron is better all around in that perspective. Plus, they aren't comparable. Lebron is a point forward and kobe is like jordan, a pure shooting guard.
Bosh improved each season in the NBA, and before joining the miami he averaged double double with like 24 points per game.
And eventhough he wasnt top 5 at the moment, but probably top 10, many people thought that next season Bosh would be the top 5 player in the league.
Lebron is DIFFERENT than these guys man. He is 6ft 7, has 250 lbs and is probably faster than most 6 ft players in the league.
If they put stronger player on him, he is faster.
If they put taller player on him, he is stronger.
