Bret isnt using his hips and core when punching, hes mainly relying on arm strength. Garrett is using his whole body and legs which is great. Both need to work on form but Brett could definitely be doing more damage with minor adjustments baby.

The force is so much more with garret cause he's hitting lower. The bag is tied at the top so he's making it move farther due to the leverage, so the reader is interpreting him as hitting harder
a good reason the melons took awhile the break cuz whenever one of you guys were holding it u wouldnt brace the impact so it the punches would be absorbed by the arms not holding it stiff, the same applies to ppl who hold breaking boards for martial arts
