Thank you for not killing Nessie and traumatizing millions of children across the world! We know the kind of hurculean restraint it must have taken, Hope you at least left her a dram of scotch for the epic battle.
Looks like you picked the best time of year to hunt sea dragons, Sam! Plus, you got closer to your quarry than even some professional hunters, so it's good to see that you're at peace about the outcome and alive to fight another day!
Fabulous stuff skipper and beautiful filming, fond memories of walking the Great Glen Way along the side of the loch 20 odd years back. Wonderful part of the world.
I absolutely love how genuine and wholesome your content is: and I mean that in no way belittling. Your out there doing what looks like your favorite thing in the world and sharing it with everyone and it's so fun to come along.
35 years ago my wife and I camped on the shores of Loch Ness in our camper van. She woke me up with screaming. I was befuddled. She had me believing she was watching Nessi through the hole she had rubbed in the mist on the window. To this day I have the dubious honour of being April Fooled by the Loch Ness Monster.
Sam, your production values are picking up! Thank you for an entertaining episode. And you still got a couple of sailing tips into the mix. I had Instagramed you a question about how you worked with your lazy jacks and sail control, so thank you for mentioning that. Enjoy that local Lagavulin while you can!
Brilliant. Your skills at storytelling are equalled by your skills at cinematography. Thank you for the smile. It was a ray of sunshine on a grey day on the Fundy. Cheers
From another former Disney worker, I have to say nobody else keeps me entertained like Sam. I suggest if you really want to find a Nessie, you check the local pubs. Stay safe, have fun Sam !!!
For some reason your video was recommended to me. Never watched a sailing video, never sailed before, but now I wish I had a sailboat. Lol. Subscribed. Love the videos. Really like the long journey ones.
This was great. I am binge watching your videos and really like the but this one stands out. The pursuit, the near triumph, the near defeat, and the ongoing hope. Excellent
I live near Raleigh. I took my wife to Oriental for the weekend this spring. I had no idea my favorite sailing channel dude was or would be there as well. I saw that Zoffinger is there now, he's a kayak guy that bought a motorboat to live aboard. I'm a realtor so buying that property there and fixing it up was awesome, and just like something I would do. I'm hoping you decide to go all the way around the world and looking forward to watching every new vid. You rock!
Sam, Sam, Sam....how much Scotch preceded these "sitings" of Nessie? Thanks for taking us there. I'll scratch it of this ole guy's bucket list. Always a joy with you here.
I stayed at a B&B over a pub at Inverness. That pub was THE most fun I had in Scotland. My wife and I walked in, had a shot and a beer and by the time that was done the locals had three more sets waiting for us to catch up. They welcomed us with open arms and lets us sing Rhinestone Cowboy with them to the juke box. Everybody would stop when the chorus started and sang to the top of their lungs and downed whatever they were drinking. Colin (self proclaimed mayor if Inverness) was our gracious host and introduced us to everyone worth knowing from the town. Great night!
Wow - drone footage, underwater shots, music, special effects, drama, story line! Either you’ve just been alone too long or you’ve graduated to being a cinematographer! Either way, fun video
Lots of Utubers are in Norway right now, but you’re the only one that seems comfortable in the environment! It’s actually funny now....I enjoy each video more than the last!
I only came across your channel accidentally watching Bermuda trip. I am absolutely flabbergasted that you actually ended up in my home lochness anchored up by Dores. Holy mackerel. I am glad I found your channel slowly binge watching. 😃
1:22 You, Sam, are so darned clever and cute to actually be looking for Nessie today. I love all your videos, but this moment takes the cake!! Keep up the great work and stay safe...please
Hey Sam: Dodie and I have watched all your TH-cam Channel videos and have been inspired to buy a sailboat too. We wanted to comment to tell you how much we enjoy your Channel. God Bless you Always. Mike and Dodie. 😎😍
Sam this was a lot of fun - well done. All you needed was someone in one of those dinosaur costumes to have a head shot grabbing you and pulling you overboard and then you would have really jumped the shark! Although you could have waited a few days to release it just before or on Halloween!!! Thanks for sharing!
Wow it's terribly deep we went on holidays from Glasgow sometimes and we could rent a boat but so so so deep good luck with the monster she's down there 😁wonderful footage thanks for sharing all 🏴
Your not kidding ...its actually deeper than a lot of the North Sea... The Great Highland boundary fault certainly makes its presence felt in its depths..👍🏻🏞️
Actually think this was one of u r better posts...goofy Nessie stuff but also informative tidbits about how you deploy ur sails... really enjoyed the ' Anchorage ' being deployed ! Cool.
This is very funny, you struggle to even even catch a fish, let alone the monster of the deep, very brave. Lovely production Sam. Fabulous and very scary.
Only Sam can tell a story like this..Very well narrated video with good editing..May be I missed the entire anchoring sequence..but don't you need more chain to assure better holding.. It's not the anchor that is doing the holding but the weight of the chain on the rode as well..
me a month ago: what a dumb recommendation why would I watch some guy I don't know sit on a boat talking to himself for three weeks? me today: ooh loch ness monster hunting!
Here's the sailing guide to Sam's route: 60326-BW-Scottish-Canals-Caledonian-Skipper-Guide-WEB.pdf (I guess google this) It answered my question: can a 52' x 26' catamaran sail this route? Yep. 35' beam, 89' minimum height. And com'on Sam the monster stuff is done. I managed to spend a month traveling around Scotland with zero mentions. What is interesting is that the north side of your route and Loch Ness are geologically North American. It's the suture to long ago plate tectonics. And that whole area has been heavily glaciated, so there are eskers (buried under-ice stream beds that end up as sinuous, but usually discontinuous hills that run along the valleys), moraines, aretes (jagged ridges of loose rock between the peaks). Cheers.
Did you notice how all the stories told by the locals about sighting Nessie start with… “He was on his way home from the pub when…”? Best wishes for fair seas and steady winds from Wrightsville Beach, NC.
It’s always good to have a little fun. You can’t be serious all the time. Thanks for the playful creativity.
That's the biggest fish story I've ever heard... :-) Good one, Sam!
Your encounter with Nessie kept me on the edge of my seat. The dramatic music score almost made it too scary to watch. Glad you survived!
Thank you for not killing Nessie and traumatizing millions of children across the world!
We know the kind of hurculean restraint it must have taken,
Hope you at least left her a dram of scotch for the epic battle.
This is one of THE BEST sailing episodes of all time! Very creative and enjoyable.
Sophistication at it's best

An American with a British sense of humour? A rare commodity indeed. It did make me chuckle and I'm really enjoying the videos Sam. Keep it up.
Thanks!
That was funny! We LOVE what you are doing! Keep going and taking us all along! Thank you!
Oh Sam, your so brave hunting down and battling Nessie. We loved it, you had us laughing the whole episode.
From another former Disney worker, I have to say nobody else keeps me entertained like Sam. I suggest if you really want to find a Nessie, you check the local pubs. Stay safe, have fun Sam !!!
This is everything!!!!!! Loved every moment. Oscar deserved.
I was laughing through out my lunch. Excellent video production.
I love all your videos but this one was entertaining and fun! Keep it up man and be safe out there!
For some reason your video was recommended to me. Never watched a sailing video, never sailed before, but now I wish I had a sailboat. Lol. Subscribed. Love the videos. Really like the long journey ones.
Your Disney credentials are showing. Lovely drone footage. Great to see the sailing stuff after the buffoonery
Buffoonery? Sir you jusy witnessed sam battle for his life and live to tell about it.
Thanks
Always nice to see you having a good time. ⛵ Keep it up
This was great. I am binge watching your videos and really like the but this one stands out.
The pursuit, the near triumph, the near defeat, and the ongoing hope.
Excellent
You had me on the edge of my seat! I would call this an epic battle. Thanks for what you did for mankind.

4:08. Drama. Great segment. //. Sam, you are one of the best. Thanks for your dedication.
That was good fun Sam even coming face to face with the enegmatic Nessie🦕
Sam, perfectly timed with the 🎃 Halloween season! Bravo!!
What a brave soul!.....Sam taking on the Lock Ness Monster! Love it.Thanks for the fun.

Imagination
8:03 NEVER WHISTLE! YA EVER HEARD, "YA'AL WHISTLE UP A STORM... MATIE!"
Hi Sam! Safe travels!
I cracked up as you looked for Nessie. Glad you both came to a mutual understanding 👌🏼
I used to put the halyards on the outside of the spreader then tie it off. It won’t keep hitting the mast in wind or when boat rocks.
This was awesome you played it perfectly
A good demonstration of anchoring while under sail. Hope you recover from your battle soon.
Ahh, so good to know your not a Nessie slayer. Excellent story telling & video editing.
Glad I woke up and checked TH-cam
your editing is even getting better! Always look forward to your new videos!
The scotch helps when looking for Nessie. I found at least when staying at Fort Augustus. Wish I back there now!
Lots of Utubers are in Norway right now, but you’re the only one that seems comfortable in the environment! It’s actually funny now....I enjoy each video more than the last!

It's a well known fact lone sailors often lose their minds. Keep taking the medicine Sam you'll no doubt pull through.
1:22 You, Sam, are so darned clever and cute to actually be looking for Nessie today. I love all your videos, but this moment takes the cake!! Keep up the great work and stay safe...please
Liking it!

That was great Sam. Exciting even though I knew it was a tall tale. Good use of audio and suspenseful shots.
Well done Sam. That was a lot of fun to watch
Hilarious! Great fun to see the Loch. Thanks!
Haha, love it. Best fish story ever.
The suspense was nail biting !!! Loved it!
Sam this was a lot of fun - well done. All you needed was someone in one of those dinosaur costumes to have a head shot grabbing you and pulling you overboard and then you would have really jumped the shark! Although you could have waited a few days to release it just before or on Halloween!!! Thanks for sharing!
i'm trying to say keep posting fun stuff like this, us actual real fans will love it
Sam, that was so entertaining, so much FUN, thank you!
Just did a night shift paving a state road. Nice to see you in the world. Thanks
The bungee-on-the-halyard tip was worth the trip. 👍
As my grandmother would say, “what an ahhhhctaaah!” 😂 comedy gold, and funny
Wow it's terribly deep we went on holidays from Glasgow sometimes and we could rent a boat but so so so deep good luck with the monster she's down there 😁wonderful footage thanks for sharing all 🏴
Your not kidding ...its actually deeper than a lot of the North Sea...
The Great Highland boundary fault certainly makes its presence felt in its depths..👍🏻🏞️

Your so lucky brother.. keep up the hood work.
Big helpings of both cheese and corn in this video. Loved it!!
what an epic tale of man vs beast, a valiant effort Sam, but Nessie always wins, great vid, extra good this time!
Your channel is amazing
This is very funny, you struggle to even even catch a fish, let alone the monster of the deep, very brave. Lovely production Sam. Fabulous and very scary.
Not a shallow spot, you dropped the anchor right on top of her 😁 . Good episode
I was really supprised with the small amount of chain you had on your anchor!
Me too!
Only Sam can tell a story like this..Very well narrated video with good editing..May be I missed the entire anchoring sequence..but don't you need more chain to assure better holding.. It's not the anchor that is doing the holding but the weight of the chain on the rode as well..
Keep having fun with it Sam!
Yep It's official Sam's gone nuts, but he's still entertaining though
Thanks Sam.
She's a canny critter is Nessy...😁
Great video
Enjoy the rest of your travels.
Take care mate
Cheers Ian
Nice to see your silly side Sam. Enjoyed the bits of sailing info too. Hardly recognized you clean shaven. 👍
Awesome. Best chase of Nessie I’ve ever seen. I was sure you had her!
Great adventure Sam. Top tip ref lazy jack angle, thanks
What an epic hunt. Well played, brother.
We appreciate your apparent bravery in starring down Nessie. Oh what fun!

This video made my day… thanks Sam!!!
The most entertaining 12:37 in TV History.... the Oscar goes too....
Lol Sam that's the best 👌 better luck next time . You may need a bigger boat!
Sam, sometimes a little nonsense is just what everybody needs! Sail on sailor.
I think you misspelled sense
Because we do live a crazy world if you're aware...
me a month ago: what a dumb recommendation why would I watch some guy I don't know sit on a boat talking to himself for three weeks?
me today: ooh loch ness monster hunting!
Very entertaining. Your personality was perfect for the Lessie chase. 😂😂😂
Personality matters

You're going to make a great story telling dad some day.
Best video yet. So dramatic. A- list cast!
