The customization features in this game were next level, it's what I want in a game like Forza Horizon. The ability to change every little aspect is insane. This game with mod's was top tier.
Still is top tier with mods, nothing else come close to it, specially in random game crashes! 😂

Well this brings back memories. I still remember putting the Super Duty truck cam in the normal V8 for a big power jump. Also removing all my body panels for less weight, and some other things.
Still amazing, and after 18 years I still play it
i love that this game is getting more attention, one of my favorites. Fun fact, the version on steam is the remaster, the guys that bought it are also working on restoring the first street legal game.

I swear this was made by Invictus, the same folks who made 1NSANE, a fantastic little offroad racer with insanely good damage.

Yep made by Invictus, pretty awesome game. They also made the F2P game called "Project Torque" that was later rebranded into "Heat Online" and was now purchased, revived and rebranded into Project Torque again by fans 😂
Unfortunately I believe Invictus ran into monetary problems and primarily develop mobile games now.
now that i think about it, if every racing game worked together, it would be the ultimate racing game. Just imagine:
the damage physics of BeamNG
the handling physics of iracing
the graphics of forza horizon 5
the car list of forza horizon 5
the customisation of car mechanic simulator 21 / need for speed visuals
the map from the crew 2
the car sounds of assetto corsa
a game like that has to be released one day
Add on terrain deformation from snowrunner and you can do literally anything
Do not expect that much, Assetto Corsa suffers from lots of physics issue and bad feedbacks, iRacing suffers from P2P transaction (I own that game, so I know how bad that game is), rFactor suffers from shit connection stability and lots of glitch everywhere.
Almost every racing games I already played and none of them are close to perfection, everything have their own fatal flaws, even Gran Turismo games are more like Forza games at finest despite it said "Real Driving Simulator", it feels arcady.
Hoping for a game that almost perfect one is more like finding a four-clover leafs on huge stack of three-clover leafs. Even on decades from now, that task was totally killing every developers until they cutting lots of corners in the end.

This is so nostalgic. The graphics paired with low draw distance reminds me of old browser games. Also, I wish newer games had cheat codes.

Bro racing games in the early 2000s had the best crash physics for their time. This and rigs of rods, which is basically just beamng prequel absolutely destroy most new games in realism other than graphics.
seen that game around the year of 2004, i think the funniest thing was that you could set your own idle rpm, minimum 200rpm maximum 12k rpm.

Nick, I would suggest you buy a car with an inline 6 at the used car place. There are plenty that show up there for less than 25k

i remember having a really decent PC for that time but this game was still unplayable
Either your pc wasn't as "really decent" (whatever that actually means lol) as you think it was, or you just suffered the same thing anybody playing a game like this, with fairly complex (especially for the time) physics going on constantly, CPUs back then that weren't top of the line would have struggled and taken the brunt of the heat.

Some of my mods that I made are rework of vr6, s85, and s54 engine sound. It uses nfs shift soundpack, all have their own YT videos

I had bought it earlier this year and i stopped playing because of no controller support i was able to use steam with jt and it wasnt terrible but in races and once i get in the fast fast cars it got hard to control the cars

loved this game brings me back so much customization such as rev limiter , timing , boost adjustment on turbos , fuel rail adjustment and much more

Holy cow, reminds me back in 2017. Today I played beamng.
I was active in both of largest slrr forums websites, GOMTEAM and VSTANCED. Currently, they're on discord servers. We do not use 2.3.1 steam version by raxat because lack of mods. Last time I remember we used 2.2.1 MWM BB93 version available on VSTANCED forums.
Reason why I played beamng is the slrr is unstable, so many game crashes.

i felt how my brains growned up while i created 150hp n/a engine because it's lighter than turbo one so with less weight i got better handling and time

Been waiting for a TH-camr to do a video on this, the back story is stranger than you thought, the original developers never actually released the game, it was based on the same engine as Monster Garage and Hot Rod: Garage to Glory, both very janky but very ahead of their time games much like SLRR, but like I said SLRR never released legitimately, the unreleased game leaked online and a community of modders attempted to make it into a working game, I'm unsure if the original Devs sent them a Cease and Desist or not but they eventually acquired the rights to release the game themselves, believe it or not the version you played is much more polished than the version I played in my teens, but they never did fix the handling 😂
Yeas it is hard as hell. but it is rewarding once you build a car that works well. on keyboard its a pain in the butt I remember playing this for a decade + at this point. the real fun is the Mods for it. so many many many many many mods its un believable. if your of fan of JDM cars the mods available is mind blowing.
I don't get why he thinks it's hard besides the occasional crash or tour through the road. As long as you don't crash at high speed or lose a pink slip it is easy. Turbo i4 or i6 if you can find one then later TT I6 then save for quad turbo V12 -> victory
Nira intense import drag racing !!!!!!! Old computer drag racing game was way ahead of its time ! You can make the the cars awd fwd rwd . You can put whatever motor max the hp . It was a wild game!
I have like almost 300 hours in this game, its as old as me lmao. And no its not the hardest game, much easier with controller. just finicky, and drag racing is your best bet. I usually throw in an RB or LS into what ever car i feel like playing around with
