    Polly Bergen was so underrated. Always quick with a good line. A bright and funny lady.

    and so loveable!

    Perian Conerly died in June, 2021. Charlie is thirty-nine years old, he looks in his fifties. he was a WWII veteran. That probably added ten years to your actual age.

    This was a good show. I liked it as a kid but never saw these older episodes. It was always fun to try to guess
    which was the one.

    Correct names are Arvo Ojala (1920-2005), Perian Conerly (1926-2021) and Frederick Franck (1909-2006).

      Thank you! The only one I could figure out was Arvo Ojala, who I was able to find. I don't know about anyone else, but I appreciate these posts.

    Dom Ameche comes across very well. he’s really charming and really a good actor. i remember seeing a film he was in when he was first starting out as a lead. i was impressed. Also, he was great in “Cocoon”, which is also a really good film. :)🌷
    i just love Polly Bergen. she had to have grown up or seen a lot of Gracie Allen. people don’t think you’re very smart when you act like that, but boy, are they wrong!! 🧐😋🌷

    1960, President Kennedy has yet to be assassinated, the Beatles have yet to invade the World, young American men have yet to die in Viet Nam, the astronauts have yet to land on the moon and I have yet to go to Woodstock. If you didn't live through the 60's, you missed the party.

    I knew the guy in the black hat was Ojala. #2 was too tall and was incorrect. Ojala got the first shot of during the Gunsmoke intro, then Arness. And #3 was too old. And when he said Frank Sinatra, I thought, "Sinatra never did TV." To me, for the fastest TV western actors, it's a toss up between Sammy and Richard Boone

    Polly Bergen was on the TTTT panel for a long time and then suddenly disappeared... was she fired? I've noticed that Bud Collyer seems really annoyed with her antics at times (such as here at 16:00 in the above video).

      I think her film career began to take off in the early '60s and she started focusing on that?

    • @secondstring
      @secondstring 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, if you're trying to get clues to figure out the identities, then she IS annoying. They have only a few seconds to ask questions of the candidates and she wastes hers trying to be cute, and in this episode she even talked through Poston's time.

    • @lovett9911

      Really bad manners to talk to each other while the other contestants are giving their names and occupations.

    Polly caused a lot of turmoil. I used to think she was acting when doing her antics. I don't think that way anymore. Did you notice in game 1 that the real quick draw expert had his hand on his gun all the way walking down the stairs? Thanks for the video.

    • @gerrydooley951
      @gerrydooley951 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@44032 that's a good question as they were the two main gun coaches in Hollywood. Redwing was also an expert with the bow and arrow, knives etc., Arvo's sole expertise was the fast draw and he invented the special holster. I don't know who was faster but around 1958 the fast draw became a big thing in Hollywood and many actors became involved in it.

    They did the right thing in repositioning Polly from the first to the fourth position, it gave her necessary thinking time.
    Sadly, Polly still had the compulsion to be needlessly disruptive and distracting without being funny or witty.

    That Polly Bergen was a strange one. She could be really funny, and she could also be quite peculiar and edgy. I wonder if she had any kind of diagnosis or would have one today.

    As I'm seeing many of these older shows for the first time, my favorite way to "play" TTTT as an audience member is to Google the name of the contestant, and hopefully find their photograph. This, of course, would have been next to impossible back in the pre-Internet days, but today, 55 years after the show aired, it's really cool to be able to know who the real person is before the reveal. If their photo doesn't exist, I'm fine just guessing along with the panel. But it's really kinda fun (for me anyway) to "cheat". When I know ahead of time, I concentrate more on how well the "liars" do in trying to convince the panel that they are the genuine article.
    In this particular episode, I found photos of Arvo Ojala, and Frederick Frank. But in the case of Mr. Frank, I could only find a photo of him as a much older man. In a case like this, I can usually still recognize the person by a distinctive facial feature such as (in his case) the nose. Hairlines can change over time, but (unless altered by surgery) ears, eyes, noses, etc. stay pretty much the same.
    And then, sometimes (very rarely) I know who the real person is because of personal knowledge. I bellieve that I recall another fast draw artist by the name of Bill Jordan who was once a contestant on TTTT, and I recognized him right away. I own his book, and he's pictured on the cover.
    Next to WML, TTTT is my second favorite classic game show.

    Cusp has nothing to do with teeth. I only remember Johnny Carson using the term in reference to astrology - transition between zodiac signs. I just looked it up and it can relate to the transition between states - "cusp of adulthood" was the example. It can also be the point where two curved lines meet.
    I think Tom was thinking of cuspid.

    • @plac1man
      @plac1man 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As a dentist, let me assure you that a cusp is the elevated portion of the chewing surface of a molar or premolar (also known as bicuspid) tooth.
