[3] In the War of Independence, Pak forces attacked Mahera zamindar bari and brutally shot dead five villagers including the zamindar bari's daughter-in-law (1971). Later, they left this country by boat on the Laujong River. This is where the liberation army camp was established. An initiative was taken to establish this Zamindar house as a police training school (1972). and the Police Training School was upgraded to the Police Training Center (1990). Mahera Zamindar Bari This Mahera Zamindar Bari is spread over ​​about eight (8) acres at a distance of about 18 km from Tangail Sadar of Dhaka Division of Bangladesh. Mahera Zamindar Bari is located approximately 4 km east of Natiapara Bazar on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
In front of this Zamindar house, there is a vast lake named ' Vishakha Sagar' before the entrance and there are 2 picturesque gates to enter the house. There are also two other ponds called Pasara Pond and Rani Pond at the rear of the main building and a beautiful flower garden in Sobhavardhana. On the southern side adjacent to the Visakha Sea, there is the huge Amr Kanan and three main buildings along with Naib Saheb's house, Kachari house, Gomstad's house, Dighi, and three more lodges. There is a fountain that was installed in 1890.
