  • Steve Coogan says that Leveson 2 was cancelled due to "fear" of media titans such as Murdoch - and he is not ready to give up trying to bring those suspected of phone hacking to justice.
The actor says he would back a police investigation into the practices of journalists - saying there will be private prosecutions if an investigation is not opened.

This is the way to go. The Sun’s unequivocal apology means:
    1) that persons contracted by newspapers broke the law; in any other profession, this would mean that those who used their services also need to be investigated
    2) it’s the duty of the press to know everything that happens; is it believable that they were ignorant of what was happening under their noses with their own contracts? Isn’t that stupidity if not collusion?
    3) in my experience, newspapers never publish anything without confirming the genuineness of the source material. Surely it’s inconceivable that they would have published this stuff without asking how the private detectives had got the information!
The tabloid press reminds me of the thief you are chasing who points in a different direction and says: He went that way! Every time you focus on the criminal, he points to a royal squabble. That’s an obvious diversionary tactic. This is not about the royals. It’s about the press doing criminal acts against everyone.

@voulafisentzidis8830 It has its own flaws.
It sometimes becomes a lawyer battle where most money wins, but it is still preferable.

The civil justice system isn't about justice. It's about getting money from the other side which is more than your legal costs.

It’s amazing to me that Piers can prance around on his own shows and others , having done all of these despicable things in the past as an editor.
How was he never cancelled ?

Would luv to see it, but PM would never see the inside of a prison, sadly. These individuals never get what they are due. The lies by PM & others just make you sick - deniability is just pathetic.

Ipso should make all the papers pay into a central fund to cover all the legal costs when blatant lying has been proven. They'd soon stop lying knowing that a full honest reckoning would be forthcoming. Something similar is needed for politicians. Getiing away with lying isnt an option for you and me. Thats the true two tier sytem that were living under.
