I haven't watched it in ages but I believe I did watch this when it was being broadcasted and looking back now at this I would certainly say that or at least she's incredibly talented, always think actually there's some amazing talent from some of the soap actors actually and it would make perfect sense. I give her props because this (with certain people definitely) could have a real impact on their own self as well, I mean look at how Anne Kirkbride dealt with depression being in Coronation Street? Always enjoyed seeing Lacey act in Eastenders and always will, just haven't bothered watching any soaps much recently so it's not just Eastenders.
She's too good an actress for soaps. How she isn't in films or major TV shows yet in the US I don't understand. By far the greatest soap actor ever in the uk She is what, 25 here? That talent so young is beyond rare. She's in her mid 30s now and still not mega famous. I don't get how her talent isnt picked up. When she left eastenders and I seen her in bedlam I was like YES ABOUT TIME SHE GETS CAST IN MORE STUFF. Then she ended up back in eastenders. I don't get how.
It doesn’t even feel like acting with Lacey Turner. She’s as natural as the air we breathe and so’s Gillian Wright at her very best. I just love Stacey.
I personally felt it was a bad representation of Bipolar people. It made them look crazy and dangerous and while I'm sure they really are certain depressed people who act like that, I don't feel most Bipolar's act like that... a lot of them tend to be very happy and motivated when they are hyper-manic and then when they crash from that high, they are super low but still able to have control over their behavior and I felt that a lot of the time in EastEnders, they portrayed Bipolar people to lack all self-control and knowledge of what they are doing wrong, like when they had Stacey walking around all slutty looking dazed and confused, as if she didn't really know what she was doing and I feel her storyline probably offended a lot of Bipolar people because it portrayed them in a bad light, especially when she murdered someone! It just sends the wrong message and stigmatizes the illness even more. And they totally used and abused this subject for entertainment purposes and weren't sensitive about it which is sad.
Hi Playbackjunkie thanks for the reply Ithink it showed the extreme end of bi=polar depression. Personally, I think it showed how bad it can get. I don't suffer from bi-polar depression, but I do have depression and have had a few manic moments in my life, and it can sometimes feel so overwhelming and out of control.
This is actually one of the most moving scenes from the whole 25 years of Eastenders... She's crying out for help - All she wants is to be heard... That moment when she called Bradley, it just makes my heart sink! All I can say is that all those awards that Lacey Turner has won for portraying Stacey are clearly very well deserved, she is probably THE best actress they have EVER had on Eastenders! To be able to pull off a story line like this and to do so in such an amazing, effective, yet belie
I've watched a lot of moving films and shows but I think this is one of the most moving 3 minutes I've ever watched and by far the most moving episode Eastenders has ever had. She is such an amazing actress...I think this role will always be a beautiful highlight in her career. The vulnerability she portrays. The mix of tones. Everything. I love this. It always makes me cry.
I remember watching this almost 14 years ago, and I was absolutely shook at how accurate Lacey Turner's acting was. It felt so real, and I was in tears watching it.
I always start crying when he says "now under the provisions of section 2 of the mental health act" she's got to go for her own safety...Lacey Turner deserved every award she got for this ❤
This was done so epically, Lacey did an amazing job on this so did the actress who plays Jean. The writers pulled this off really well. They need to bring Stacey back no eastenders accress could ever beat her !
for like the past month I have been obsessed with watchin old eastenders clips from 80s/90s but this clip has just veen too much. best acting I have ever seen on the show. One of the most important storylines. Bravo
This is sooo emotional as a mental health nurse. When he says “now under provisions of Section 2 of the MHA”, it just hits and brings me back to work. It’s so sad and heartbreaking 💔🥺.
Wow watching this again after soo long especially after the recent Jean mental breakdown is a reminder of how both lacy & Gillian are phenomenal actresses 🥺👏🏾
I've only begun watching recently, and though I had a vague idea of Stacey's past, I never knew the amount of pain she's endured, with her bipolar disorder, and Archie, the abortion, everything.
lacey turner is brillaint she has captured every part of someone with bipolar.. Im speakin from experience.. i have bipolar and got this bad And it took a while to recover from it but i got there.. but lacey did a brilliant job!!
@@Ghostrrr11 they can't detain under section 2 without the assessment completed. if she does not consent to the assessment they would use section 136 police holding powers within the community to take her to assess her under the mental health act and decide with two psychiatrists and an AMHP (APPROVED mental health practitioner) usually a Social worker with additional qualifications. They all then have to write a report and agree that the person should be detained under MH act and this is usually section 2 which is an assessment period of a max of 28 days this cannot be renewed. One of the best moments of EE. Stacey was such a great character. It's a shame they kind of ruined her after this all happened, but I'd absolutely love it if she came back soon. There's still so much more they can do with Stacey! :)
this was soooooooooo sad I cry because I was sectioned I got bi polar and I was going mad but I meet a girl called Jessica and now I at college doing hairdressing so thankyou easenders
While Lacey Turner was a really good actress and was mpved by her protrayal of a bipolar break, it was the writer's that actually deserve so much of the credit that is hardly ever spoken of. Jean's portrayal is also really exceptional. All around well done.
In reality if a person is panicking like this, they try to calm them down as much as possible. Chasing them out into the street would be a last resort.
Why do the police have to get involved Stacey is ill she isn't a criminal they should have sent an ambulance not the cops it's shameful criminals get treated better than the mentally ilin this country
Kathleen Cook I know, it's for her safety, they shouldn't man handle her like that though. But as a manic depressive who isn't co-operating or complying, or as they say, "come quietly", she could be a danger to herself or others. She did attack someone before hand with broken glass which is why the police were called. If it was an ambulance they would have had her strapped down to a gurney, I wonder which situation compromises their dignity more..?
Oh my goodness can’t imagine how scared she must have been but she was so poorly she needed hospital care as mental illness is so hard to deal with for them and their families 😪🏥brilliant acting too👏👏🙏🏻
this is the best acting in eastenders history

No it's not. Eddie Furlong's voice broke in terminator 2, and yet he just ended up being a loser drug addict.

Playbackjunkie - actually, no, this doesn't stigmatize whatsoever. This is a very accurate representation on just how bad the disorder can get.
oogie11 is this a manic episode or a depressive episode?
That's not biploar, that's some soap version of it.

Despite the inaccuracies in the scene, you cannot deny that was an incredible performance
Does it start with the fact they are all at the house waiting for her?

this scene broke my heart, lacey's amazing espically when she was screaming out to bradley.
Best acting i have ever seen in a soap, Stace and Jean are amazing

poor stacey thing is should be in a ambulance she isn't very well it's not her fault lacey done really well with this storyline

I’d love them to give Stacey another big storyline where she can really act. She is one of the best actors in EastEnders

If you have experienced someone being sectioned then you'll appreciate how good these actors are. Hard hitting and unfortunately very realistic. 😢

I really miss when the show was like this!

Hardly. She had an affair with his father. That is hard to forgive

Poor Stacey. I wasn't watching 'Enders at this time. So sad.
