I was hoping you would say this. I told myself I'm gonna hang a vine/ rope without any bought scent. Let it be natural. I really enjoyed this video. Proved to myself i was right. Thanks
I just went out on my property and put a hanging vine on a known buck trail just off the ridge. Within eight hour I had my big 10 and big nine both hit it the big 10 has been to it three times now, in less than 12 hours. Crazy!
Learning more from your vids than any I have watched all the years, all those I followed raving about the moon phases and laying scent and activity times yota yota yota.. Your info is totally more valuable than all theirs put together.. Thank You
It's funny how deer scent companies fool people to buy their products to be successful during season. I was fooled for a couple years till I started watching these videos and now my scrapes are more active without scent then with scent. Thank you so much Jeff for your advise. Saves me a bunch of money.
I believe in these I put one in 2 years ago did you some scent I wish I would have seen this video first it's been working for me though I don't overthink once or twice a year that's all I use it last year's shot a beautiful 8 the year before that I shot a wide six in the year before that I shot a Big Ten so I know this works
You mention that most of these mock scrape videos, people ask “where should I place my mock scrape?” I am hunting a rock pile tree in the middle of a field. There are travel corridors through the grass that I have mowed for years. Should I bury power line poles in the field to hang a mock scrape? I have a couple big loads of them, but I’m worried they will scare the deer away. Not that they bother the deer that eat my garden surrounded by them!
Fixed my mock scrape and im going to invest in a No Glow trail camera. There are bucks I haven't seen in months and I wondered why. Duh, they see the red lights. Thank you for all the info, it is helping me and so many others have successful hunts, and better hunts.
@@CExpress420 yes I have cameras that if you get infront if the red light comes on and I out black stop on them and they work fine.. The red light isn't the ir flash mine are invisible
Couldn't agree more. Tried these types of MS out for the very first time last year, in Canada NB, and had quite a few different Does/Fawns come visit and CHECK who had been through the area and left their own scent. Only had one yearling buck check it, but that I believe has more to do with low Buck numbers because of a stupid Bucks Only law that's been around in this province now for over 25 years !
Been watching your videos now for a while! Yesterday I was out on my family property, we had a birthday party for my sister and girlfriend. Out riding 4wheelers and dirt bikes hiking then hung a couple stands and put out 2 vine mock scrapes. Super excited to see how they worked in about a month when I go check the cameras.!
Loving these summer videos in prep for deer season my man! Thanks so much! My wife actually got into a large piece of public two evenings ago for some scouting and I was so glad that just after hanging a trail camera she spotted the large buck we are after this season…awesome times. Your expertise helps so much.
Hey Jeff, you've completely changed and verified my view on mock/natural scrapes going foward. 2 deer seasons ago I was set up about 70 yards below 2 natural scrapes that were on the edge of an old logging road. That morning I had 3 bucks each bigger than the previous hit only the 1 scrape which had a natural vine about 5 feet off the ground. Each buck kept going on their back legs and rubbing their head on it and neither of them actually pawed the ground. Definitely not going to waste any more $ on expensive doe/buck urine and instead put up some vine mock scrapes instead. Ty Jeff and gl in the woods this fall!
Great observation on him, moving his rack around the vine. It makes sense a big buck would do that to protect their recent marking, but most wouldn’t notice that, myself included. Pay attention to details, they tell a story all the time. Cool stuff Jeff.
Thanks Jeff we are going up next month for a wrok detail, this is on my HIT LIST. I have Never done this and am Excited to try it out. Got 2 new bow stands with trails in and out of the area, Thanks again
I've never hung a mock scrape and was wondering you say you don't add sent on the vine! What about when u first hang it? Should you add smell to the vine so the deer will find it or just put some on the ground? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
wondering the same thing, he doesnt mention it in any of his mock scrape videos.... once the deer are using it i agree no artificial smell, but how do we get the deer to start using it? is it a set it up and hope for the best kind of thing?
Will it work to put mock scrapes on a mowed trail? My area is super thick, so i try to keep a couple trails mowed around my property. Each time i look for a spot, and keep thinking a trail is the nest spot.
Heh ! Saves money . Hard telling how much I've spent on artificial scents in years past.Love It. Also I've heard the fathers day event was awesome. Thanks for what you do.
Thanks Norm and man...it was a huge success!! We raided over 20k for kicking bear and there were a lot of tears, smiles and hugs along the way. Was an amazing Father's Day!! Can't wait until next year...
Last night scouting from the truck saw the bucks in my area 1.5 miles down the road in a bean field feeding at last light Jeff you say all the time they move 1-2 miles during the summer season I saw that last night I’m getting a prerut game plan for the opener here in Nodak bucks on beans before the leaves turn yellow
Once you hang it in the right spot deer will begin to leave their preorbital, Forehead, and salivary gland scent on it. Each deer has its own unique scent. Me personally, I have been using an all natural pre orbital from Smokey's Deer Lures to Jumpstart my mock scrapes in March. It is the only patented, all natural, PreOrbital on the market.

funny - I send lots of Jeffs videos to my neighbor - the bigger the better area the more deer we'll have... shot my biggest to date last fall and never had a picture of him... but my neighbor did!
After watching one of your videos on hanging a grape vine, I put one up about 3 years ago close to a salt lick. They are still rubbing their faces on it and giving it the sniff test. Who knew.
Right on Jeff another great video and incredible footage off all those deer. Can’t wait to get my property and check out the mock scrap I have set up cross my fingers. Great work Jeff thank you
Jeff How come some times I have a vine hanging. level ground. Clear all around it and it's just a foot off a deer run and had a camera. And a deer never hits it at all. Would you know why that is. Also why dont you have cell cameras on the scrapes so you dont have to go there and pull the card. To take the chance of leaving your scent.
I've used stripe maple as a liking branch because they love rubbing on them and it worked just fine. I believe the type of wood is not as important as having it in their face in the right location.

Just hung one this week. It doesn't have space for a deer to spin 360 around it but it's the only place that works with the area I have to work at.
