Why this speech was above excellent. Martha touched on two themes that has been bedevilling Kenya since independence. The theme of the speech was Good Governance and Social justice. What does this mean. What she was saying was that Good Governance first and foremost is the bedrock or foundation for a country to progress or thrive. Without Good governance everything you do is waste of time and resources. Good governance means ensuring that the countries resources mainly taxes are well managed and used for the purpose they were intended for. For example, good governance means ensuring that the country does not lose 800b from theft and waste and that money should be used to alleviate the many pain points or suffering Kenyans go through. She then pivots to social justice. What does social justice mean. Social Justice means that a country or a leader who is worth being called a leader should ensure that these resources availed through the fruits of good governance, should then be utilized to provide soicial services to its citizens, services like a safety net for the poor, elderly and single mothers. Education for all, whereby no one in Kenya will be denied an education because they could not afford the fees, a health system that actually works for all that is accessible and affordable in all corners of the country. farmers who can access cheap and affordable loans and provided the neccessary knowledge and know via extension officers to produce more food to ensure no one goes hungry. Once you achieve good governance everything else falls into place. you eradicate poverty, disease and hunger
This is what we missed when she did not clinch the Presidential position the last time she vied for it. The electorate were made to believe she’s just a woman. Martha has never changed her stand towards fighting for this country. Constitution matters are at her fingertips.
