Why are we upgrading, when everything we need is already in there anyways, and they don't deserve our support. The perpetual Studio One Pro is now officially a chopped down version and we are now second class users.
I can see where Fender are taking Studio One. They will eventually force everyone onto subscription if you want all the new function and features. This is the first time I have been disappointed with Presonus in the 10 years I have owned a perpetual license for the Professional version 😔

Thanks MIke, good video as usual. It was really disappointing that PreSonus misleads us by claiming a new virtual instrument is part of Studio One 6.6. It is not, it is part of Studio One+ and it was released during the 6.6 update. Hybrid is interesting, but too little too late.
I appreciate your balance in the review, Mike. Some reviews and comments have been quite vitriolic, especially about the new instrument being free in the subscription and not in the perpetual license. I don't care, as I have around 9 gadzillion other virtual instruments anyway. Same with the plugins and sample packs available only with the subscription. Many of the people complaining don't seem to realize that the perpetual license is still an option. I bought the upgrade every time since version 2 until I tried the subscription, which I stopped when v6 came out. I bought the upgrade again because I don't like the idea of not having a recent version if I can no longer afford to pay. The hybrid version may solve this problem, if the annual cost is at least close to what I would pay to upgrade every few years. But then again, I don't miss the subscription. There is not much to tempt me back. I also admire your diplomatic mention of the TuneCore integration, as your preference has been DistroKid (as will mine be, if I ever choose to publish a song). I myself resent this "tyranny of the default" a little. PreSonus should provide integration with other major services too, though there will always be someone ticked off that their favorite service wasn't included.
That is not the case. At the end of the subscription, you receive a license for the current version of Studio One available at that time. This license is not upgradable. However, by paying an additional fee-currently €135-you can obtain an upgradable version. The new synth is still exclusively available to subscribers.
Currently on the demo - considering purchasing S1 but I'm a bit confused. If I understand correctly, the only way to ensure access to Lead Architect is to have an active Studio One+ subscription. It does not appear to be included with any of the standalone versions and if you "purchase" hybrid, you would lose access to Lead Architect after one year unless you opt-in to Studio One+? Is this correct? If so, I'm glad I discovered this before purchasing S1.
yes if you use lead architect while subbed , you cant use it anymore after the sub expires. And it wont open the instrument on the old projects you used it on. Terrible
I have abandoned S1 as there is still no middle mouse hold and move in the timeline like it is standard in any other DAW or audio software I use like Cubase/Nuendo, Bitwig, Wavelab, Acoustica…

I just got this message! non-updating perpetual license is the catch😏 Thank you for being a Studio One+ member. With the release of our Studio One 6.6 software update, Studio One+ Annual is now Studio One+ Hybrid. Honestly I think all the DAWs are going this way. I'm really glad i learned how to actually play long ago. Only virtual instrument i use is drums and whatever is stock or almost free plugins
Hi Mike, after the S1+ sub is ending the latest S1Pro Version (at that given moment) will still be accessible, but it will not receive any updates whatsoever (not even the minor ones). AFAIK
Exactly, so if you change computers or update your OS or something you current version may not even work and then be forced to pay again to get back in the game, exactly as pro tools did

Hey Mike! So I'm thinking about leaving Cakewalk by Bandlab and getting Studio One but not sure which to get...which one is more like Cakewalk,Studio One Artist or Pro?
Hi Mike, Just wanted to let you know I did download the new Studio One 6.6 Version but very disappointed I have the Professional level program that I've been updating since 2015 and have paid lot's of money to keep it current; now can't have the latest App they offer because all of a sudden there is a Plus version that I have to purchase yearly!!! Ridiculous! If they continue with this subscription nonsense, I'll regrettably be going else where no matter the learning curve. I hear Logic Pro is good. Oh well, nothing like crapping on your customers to send all your clients out the door!
im trying to get back to studio one, but keeps getting error when authorizing the program, "301 error", i tried to activate offline but on the website keeps loading forever, im using studio one 3, anyone can help me?
Same as pro tools did, i can see a DAW change coming up. Fender are gonna screw this into the ground. Presonus have already been slack in fixing old bugs let alone new stuff! plus the multitrack drum editing in Studio one is terrible. I love studio one in general and have been on it for 10 years, but i'm looking around at other options...
The Studio One 6.6 update was rather disappointing, especially the notion that subscribers are now considered the A team, leaving the rest of us as mere spectators without any benefits as Pro users. However, that's okay; it motivated me to make a decision. I've been alternating between Cubase and Studio One for the past few years, and I haven't been particularly satisfied with either. I am a long-time Cubase user. I decided to explore Logic Pro X too. Today, I made the switch and I'm opting for Logic Pro X. It evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of the early days of music production software-not necessarily in layout, but in its overall approach. I feel a sense of belonging and comfort in Logic Pro X. I have a feeling we'll become great companions.
Fender is a lifestyle brand. They don't make any product better than some other brand can make, and especially not at a competitive price. I really loved S1 for the time I used it, but as soon as I heard that Fender owned it, I figured it was a matter of time.... I'm out. I have a daily DAW that I use that is really good and isn't turning the corner to subscription yet. Sorry S1.
It's not going in a good direction. The subscription is being pushed more and more, and Tunecore...? Come on. That company's in a bad situation now that they're being exposed basically stealing their customers' money and pulling their songs from platforms based on bogus reasons (Benn Jordan gives a good overview on that). Not a good look. I'm pretty worried about the direction that Presonus has started to go after Fender took over. It's the best DAW out there, but it's not irreplaceable. If they go the way of Adobe, I'm out. Also, the 6.6 update broke some VST3 plugins. I hope there's goign to be a fix for that.
Let me guess. Still no linking grouped plug-ins across tracks like pro tools and Cubase does in grouping options. Ugh. Linking plugin parameters across tracks is desperately needed for atmos let alone rhythm guitar amp sims… COME on Presonus. Such a simple and great feature when it’s needed. Should have came with atmos.
S1 is a joke and on it's way out, if it don't leave fender ,years for updates and it's super desrespectful to it's pro users, by not offering this vst to it's long time users . Bitwig here I come
@@jimmito823 , pretty much yes. This was done so poorly! Rubbing users noses in it. "pay this subscription and I'll give you X for free". I can say with certainty that the people behind this idea think I'm an idiot. It is disrespectful, absolutely. They could have simply made this new synth available when you purchase the subscription, but no, they got to rub our noses in it. They totally deserve this reaction. This is a carrot on a stick. Disgusting marketing.
Presonus are on a slippery slope. I think that there will be a few users that will start to look at DAWS elsewhere. People want to own their products and not have to pay subscriptions.
I am very disappointed that us Professional users have to buy a subscription to enjoy all the updates. I switched to ST-1 because Avid started this stupid subscription thing. Now that Presonus is doing that I may switch back or try another DAW. Sucks!
This new synth is only part of subscription. I have studio one pro 6.6 and it's not in it. This makes the hybrid subscription not such a goid thing. You used to be able to buy the addons but now they're studio + only. So, if you stop paying the hybrid subscription, you can't use any, not even by buying them as addons. Moan aside, good video as always.
Guess it's time to switch to FL Studio.. I tried HARD to stick with Studio One but it's like they are actively trying to loose customers since V4. Been pro since v3 so I hate that I'll have to learn a new daw but at least FL is able to keep it's loyal customers happy.. Screw Presonus. I already knew this update was going to piss me off.
I wish they would spend one release only on improving keyboard navigation.
Any CPU handling improvements in 6.6? 🤔
im trying to get back to studio one, but keeps getting error when authorizing the program, "301 error", i tried to activate offline but on the website keeps loading forever, im using studio one 3, anyone can help me?
Please fix the latency😬
So, let me get this right; for me to get into lead architect I have to up to a subscription?
How do I revert back to version 6.5, 6.6 will not allow me to use scaler 2, my go to plugin. Any advise would be appreciated.
Question Is the update for Studio One the Professional Bundle because that's what I have?
Have they fixed the broken "dropout maker" mode yet?
I have also been requesting this feature since the introduction of Atmos. It's a basic requirement for mixing in Atmos.
bunch of my plugins keep crashing it, and it wont allow me to add them to the block list. pretty upset right now
They're taking the piss
for me studio one is the closest to logic pro or x... its fast.. easy... quality sound and really great in all ways
how cand add a custom vst3 folder on s1 so can i scann my plugins
i can't buy it i have to continuously pay to create in your daw......no not cool.
Nah ... subscription and I'm gone.
No lead architect for perpetual users? I can't complain, I have the "non very honest version" if you know what I mean XD
Love studio one. Not so shaw about tunecore. Wish it had bee distrcid. No interest in subscription.
S1 is a joke and on it's way out, if it don't leave fender ,years for updates and it's super desrespectful to it's pro users, by not offering this vst to it's long time users . Bitwig here I come
Wow, Desrepectful, Incredible
I too would like to look for an alternative. I think over time you are right, this platform simply will be going downhill. What's Bitwig.
Cubase is on sale now, they offered all the freebies to all current Pro 13 customers too.
Oh do stop whining!
I love updates
Presonus are on a slippery slope. I think that there will be a few users that will start to look at DAWS elsewhere. People want to own their products and not have to pay subscriptions.
I have an artist license because I can't afford the pro. Artist ceases to exist? Nothing is said about this....
So sweet!
Fail :(
No Lead Architect for Pro license users ? Is that a joke ?
Lead architect, only for + members. And Tunecore, not for me.
A lot of wasted money spent with these idiots..
Subscription lol
