    Thank you! I need to change several blades and I also did not know this.

    I would like to add, when you are using the hammer to knock the sections off, always hit above the rivet that is farthest away from your hand first.after it s broken , then hit on the side closet to your hand. This makes sure the section flies away from your hand, not towards it.and to be even safer, wear a good leather glove on the hand that you are holding the knife with.

      +BRAiN StORM Thanks and agreed. We would have saved SO MUCH time if we knew this the first year we did hay...

    I remember my grandfather swearing tather loudly at having to pull the sickle out on his swather. Last summer, running my NW sickle bar mower, I hit an old piece of barbed wire. It knocked several teeth off the bar and sheared the pins on the bracket point where the blade attaches. I need to replace the teeth, and get the bar out, neither of which do I know how to do. As there seem to be very few videos on youtube about it, either it is impossible and should scrape it, or it is so easy I should be able to figure it oue. Nearly ready to start trying to figure it out.

    I would have went the same route with the blades at first. Guess it’s mild steel like a shear pin on a tiller. Great tip on both though, and great work around for the bushing. Smarter not harder is the way to go!

      Yup! And thank you!!!! :) We were very impressed with how the bushing worked. We wish we knew these tricks when we started hay... But I guess “ya live and ya learn”

    Would you mind me asking? 1000 subs in a year: how are you promoting your channel? Would love to hear any tips you can share. I haven’t found much more that I can do outside of Facebook groups and Instagram.

    • @CollinsCountry
      @CollinsCountry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Joe Lauer All good questions! :) For us it took 1 and a half years. We did not promote at all for probably the first 4 months or so. We did not take youtube seriously at first. We just used it as a public place to post our videos to update our friends and family from out of state on our house building progress. When we started posting videos we had no goals for youtube. One of our videos did well organically on TH-cam and someone told us to start taking it seriously because this could be a source of income for us. Then we started posting the videos on Facebook. Since then we have just tried to post more consistently. That’s the only promoting we have ever done. We didn’t even start making custom thumbnails until after we had the channel for a year. For us youtube just grew organically. We don’t have Instagram, Twitter, etc so we can’t promote on those platforms. I think what helps us is that we do DIY videos and those are highly searched topics on TH-cam. In a way, we just got lucky. I wish we had better advice for people but I think that’s the truth. Just keep posting and eventually TH-cam will organically grow your channel. Make sure you are posting videos that people can search for on TH-cam:) Most importantly- have fun with it! This is something we enjoy doing so we will keep doing it:) Hang in there and your channel will grow:)

      @@CollinsCountry thanks for taking the time to write all of that. After looking at your videos, I can believe it’s all organic growth. They are very cool and appealing to people that search for it. Great stuff. Good luck and continued success!!
