  • I roll out early morning with the Kubota B2601 Compact Tractor and B2782B Snowblower to take advantage of the serenity of the forest. Grab a coffee, sit back and come along down the driveway through the forest with me, up at the cottage, here in the outdoors. Cheers!

    Good morning GP,

    • @GPOutdoors

      Good morning LJ. Sure did but my dealer did not recommend it , and I have to agree. My forest is pretty tight and dense so considering the all year use of it, I didn't get one as I am 99% sure I would be putting a branch through the glass at some point. But I think at some point I may consider an after-market cab that I can take off and on easily. Cheers!

    Your going to miss all that fresh air in your "open cockpit" B2601 this winter. It can't be great trapped in a factory heated (A/C also) LX2610 cab. The new LX2610 front mount blower looks a lot beefier than the B2782B.

    Enjoy watching you using your snow blower on your driveway. Just like it was when I had a snowmobile, you wear the right clothes you stay warm. Most all the 17 plus inches we had in southwestern NY State is all melted from the storm last week but did manage to plow mine and my neighbors driveway on my B2650. Sort of a relearning thing again from using it last year. Have a good week.

    What do you do when it really snows, I mean maybe two feet? I wish I could afford a tractor like you have, maybe some day. I guess you don't have cable with that long driveway. Nice video.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! No cable or TV. But I have a DVD player and a screen. Usually by this time of the year we would have about 4 feet of accumulation. Love lots of snow. Snowmobiling, the kids used to skate on the lake when they were younger, ATV etc. Last winter was odd but this one is very odd. Had very little snow overall but apparently we are supposed to get a big snowfall this week. Fingers crossed. Cheers and thanks Charles!

    Great video GP! Are you frequently positioning the blower up and down (for traction), or mostly using your floating position control? Did you have a frozen base before this snow fall?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey good evening Bryan. Some great questions. The base won't be frozen probably till the end of the month so I keep my skid shoes high for now. I always run in float but you probably see that whenever the driveway inclines I often have to pop it out for a minute and lift it a bit until I get over the hump and then I drop it into float again. I sometimes have to lift it for traction too on corners when the blower gets into deeper snow on the side - it tends to kind of pull you in. Thanks for watching and for the q's!

    This is my first northern Minnesota winter with my B2601. Do you ever feel the need for, or have you ever considered chains up there in Canada?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good day Joe! Very timely question. Several subscribers last year and this year suggested I get them. Some people have said it is ok to put them on, and some say that the compact and/or more recent tractors are not as strong, so to speak, as the older ones so not to put chains. I will bring this topic up in an upcoming video. I finally spoke with my dealer and he said not to put chains on it - apparently it will damage the transmission over time. They said that if I feel I need to , then to only put them on the rear tires only, and never to use 4 wheel drive while the chains are on. So I would offer that maybe you can call your deal er and see what they say and let me know. That would be great. Cheers!

    I really enjoyed this video you have the longest driveway I have ever seen I will say that. I am sure that is very relaxing and a good way to take your mind off of things. I do have two questions though.
    My one is how do you keep the snow from blowing back in your face when you are using the snowblower? I know when dealing with snow that can be challenging.
    My second question is have you thought about putting something on the back of the tractor that spread either salt or sand on your driveway so no one gets stuck? With that long of a driveway you wouldn't want to get stuck in the wrong spot that is for sure

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey good evening James! Some great questions. Thanks for watching and I am glad you enjoy them. re: 1 - This morning there was no wind at all so it made for a wonderful morning. On a normal day there is always some wind and I always end up looking like Frosty the Snowman when I am done. LOL. For some reason , I never turn the chute fast enough to match the changing wind direction - that's why I wear the goggles. LOL. re: 2 - I absolutely have, since last winter, and I have something - I will introduce it soon over the next few weeks. Very happy with it as I think you will see soon. • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey good morning and thanks Mitch! I have been thinking about that over the last couple of weeks and may look into it. BTW - did you check with your dealer to see if it was ok to put the chains on it? And if so, what did he say?

    • @onthegowithmitch
      @onthegowithmitch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      GP Outdoors I used to work for New Holland years ago and we would chain up front and rear axles for customers and never saw and driveline issues. I have chains for all my tractors and I also have never had and issue. If you where rammy jammy maybe you might have a problem but as I’ve watched all your videos your not hard on your equipment.
      If you found a set of old lawn mower ( rear tire) chains they should fit your front tires. I made mine out of a set of old light truck chains(had them laying around).
      It would never hurt to ask your local dealer and see what they say. When you purchase your b2601 did you buy the kubota insurance ? I would think if ( can’t see it happening) you broke a driveline component that insurance should cover the damage as you the owner installed and chains. I would also check with your local dealer on this as well. They do have a very good insurance policy.
      Anyhow keep the videos coming and good luck with your research.
      Mitch

      @@GPOutdoors imo Use chains with caution, if absolutely necessary, otherwise?. Today's drive train components don't have the meat of older 2wd tractors. That is why , today's tractors are mostly 4wd. Run a little softer tires and reduce gears if you need a bit more traction. I cringe to see a wheel spinning with chains on. Something has to give $$$. Chains are made for low gear and rough terrain as in the woods for working or towing something out of a situation. My 2 cents. lol

    We love the videos.
    Truly but you are running that unit to hard.
    Having to improvise a seat warmer and burning out flashers faster than shear pins.
    For the love of all that is tractor and beautiful scenery...we plead you give the old girl a break.
    What do you think of the opening for a novel idea about a secluded tool nerd somewhere in eastern Canada?

      LOL WC! You're right. I need to give her a break. :)) I think that is an excellent idea. Tool nerd, complete with pocket protector and honest, down east friendly rapport, taking us through his weekly escapades and adventures - I like it. It's got legs I think. It will be a lot of work but you should give it a whirl. I'd watch. Cheers!
