I've seen that Big Salad episode several times and I gotta say, I agree with George. That lady took credit for something she did not do. He deserved that, "thank you."
He would have, if it weren't for the fact that earlier in the episode, George made it a specific point to her that 'it doesn't matter who pays for lunch', when he picked up the tab. If it doesn't matter who pays for lunch, then it also doesn't matter who takes credit for it. By saying that, he forfeited his right to claim credit for the big salad, because by his own words: 'it doesn't matter'. But he had to have it both. He wanted to seem like a generous suitor to his girlfriend and as the one responsible for buying her lunch, thus being the rightful recipient of Elaine's gratitude, in which case it DOES matter that he paid for lunch. Either it matters who pays for lunch and thus George is a liar or it doesn't matter who pays for lunch and he's a petty fuck. And as we all know, George is both of those things.
It was before widespread use of cell phones (barely) but certainty not before cell phones exisisted. My dad had a Motorola brick phone in the mid to late 80s. This episode was from 1994. By then nextel and voicestream (became tmoble) were gaining subs and growing and when I got my cell phone at a kiosk in the mall. 1994.
That would be one of Trump’s sex trafficking beauty contests taking place in Atlantic City. That was the only guy doing beauty pageants in Atlantic City during this time.
I love the old school Orioles caps, like the one Elaine was wearing.

Eah gotta agree with George on this one. Give credit to where it originated from. If not, will see how others like us taking credit for them ;o)
Elaine asked George for the big salad and he bought it for her. Elaine "assumed " he bought it because he said he would. Dump the dummy.
Believe it or not, this was BEFORE cellphones.
Why capital letters ? Anything that extraodinary ? Plenty of things predate cellphones.
When life was life
