FYI, the Engineer in this video, Dave Mack, has a son, Kevin Mack (A.K.A. "Mack Truck") who once played for the Cleveland Browns from the mid-80's to the early 90's.
@CoastStarlight11 this really is historical footage when one considers that the AEM-7 locos will start to be retired beginning in February of 2013 with the delivery of new acs-64 electric locos
If you watched the video you'll hear that in the cab there are two speedometers which are about 5 MPH difference in speed, so the train was running at 125 when that speedo reads 130
+sportsmovieman posted: "Clockers are gone too." That's correct. According to Wikipedia, the Clockers (which ran between New York Penn & Philadelphia) were removed from the schedules in 2005. When that happened, New Jersey Transit added some express trains between Trenton & New York.
@trainmanlars They did have some cool stuff back in the day from the pictures that I have seen. I was born in year 1983 so I did not get to see that 1970's Amtrak stuff in person.
in malaysia and europe, many train running on double track line run on the left but in U.S on the right side? when the double track and electrifying project on ipoh-padang besar and gemas-singapore finish, could E&O express travel on right side or left side? just wondering...
The futur of amtrak ? Whit the european lookslike loco ? The train call 9-11 pure coincidence i know this MMMMM............................ anyway long live to Acela and pentrex video make only a good work on video

I love those cute alerter sounds on the AEM-7s. Never again you'll hear that on the newer electrics.
125 mph is still quite impressive. The ride is still smooth and pleasant

Crazy shot of that speedometer creeping up to 130. They would never get away with that nowadays, especially after ACSES was installed.
lol the good ol' days when everyone ran hot.

this is a cool video, bought it in '98 and still have it.

“The metroliner cars”
*shows consist of AEM-7 power with amfleet coaches*
Amfleet coaches were infact created from the base of budd *metroliner*
@CoastStarlight11 But you have to agree that the heritage days were much more interesting than today, where all the equipment looks damn near the same
@airplanebuilderman It is the in cab signalling system

Awesome Vid!!!!!!!!!!
I think the alertor sounds like something from the original TV version of Star Trek. Red Alert!!
Didn't 911 ironically catch fire on the Keystone?
They *did* represent the futer. And the future it opened to.
Also, note the paint scheme- and the shirts :P
I GOT THAT MOVIE!

I cant even do that on the Train Simulator 2013
What about Train Simulator 2023?
plus The Ride
@trainmanlars You are so right.
Do you have any current tape?
& You'll Also The Restored Broadway Limited 2 Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
@CoastStarlight11 it would be even cooler if it was an E60 or GG1 in 1977
wow thats fast.
@trainmanlars But then that would be the pre youtube days which is not cool, LOL!!!
@harry811 Yeah. The speed train there's no money for..
...and I made a typo.
Its not as fast as the Acela.
The Acela replaced the Metroliner, so this film is old and the Acela wasn't around at the time.
911 dial
Too much of engineer.
Why not show crossover at 70 mph?
No grade crossings?
