@Atomshamradio if you take time on Ebay or other places, I'm sure you'll find a decent example. This one is fot recently is a credit to the previous owner...
@Atomshamradio blimey. Take a look at this one!! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196908778292?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=tuzXqsRoRjK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=J0646i-LQc-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@alanslade2319 Thank you, it's certainly a great looking radio from the late 70's. I often run around 100 watts into a Sirio Yagi 4 element. It has around 11 db gain, so that's around equivalent to 1kw through a 5/8 wave vertical. I was taught about antenna gain in the very early 80's by a radio ham. He was the local GPO tvi official.. I have an 8 element cubical quad, but it's down for repairs. Now that gets out unbelievably great.
@kevanLloyd7135 WOW I'm pushing 100 watts.but I've only got a boomerang up at the moment, I've got a astro plane to put up, with a RM 504. So glad that I waited till after Christmas, all the storms were having, hopefully we're get copy one day, cheers and beers 73s💯👍
@franciscolopez3229 I very often use an amp, but it's brilliant to do it barefoot when the conditions are good. My antenna at the moment is a Sirio 4 element Yagi with around 11db gain. It helps out lots. My big 8 element cubical quad is down for storm damage repairs. Now that shoots some skip, it's around 18.5 db gain and gives me around an S4 increase compared to my 5/8 vertical ground plane Sirio 2016. Thanks for showing interest, it's very pleasing to talking about this stuff. 73 mate .

Another lovely radio. May I ask do you always make contacts across the pond without the use of an amp.? If so, what antenna are you using sir?
