An extremely easy build that should work for all brutal combat challenges, materia set up heavily inspired by a Reddit post that will be linked at the bottom. My materia set up was as follows

Set up your party as Aerith/Yuffie/Barret as I’ve noticed starting as Yuffie can cause problems with the aggro, for rounds 1-3 you want to immediately swap to Yuffie and draw aggro away from Barret and Aerith. Have Barret cast haste and Aerith throw down an ATB ward. Run over to the atb ward and spam brumal form over and over. From there have Barret pop lifesaver and Aerith an arcane ward. After that just spam fire on Aerith and then pray with Barret for health when needed or use maximum fury otherwise. In rounds 4 & 5 use Aerith’s ATB boost for safety reasons. For sephiroth make sure you swap to Barret immediately so he gets grabbed by the chains and not Yuffie or Aerith.

I've been playing it for close to 140hrs and cannot get a handle on how these people came up with these strategies and actually mastered them. Idk how many tries and failures it took them or how many hours... but they make it look easy.

I can tell you!
1.) Have someone equip first strike and use Magnify + haste (so you generate ATB quicker).
2.) Equip first strike with Aerith and set up an ATB ward.
3.) With Yuffie, equip ATB assist (this will give ATB to your allies when you use an ability back-to-back) and spam bumal form within the ATB ward. Bumal form allows you to dodge enemy attacks and thanks to ATB assist, it produces a ton of ATB for your allies. Voila! ❤️
Other things you can do is add enemy skill + hp absorb on Yuffie. Use plasma discharge and everytime Yuffie gains an ATB, plasma discharge will proc 😭 It’s a lightning AOE attack. Lifesaver with Barret helps keep the party alive, auto ability on Aerith helps her to teleport to an arcane ward to fire off spells. Also use synergy materia with her!!

I hadn't even attempted this challenge before doing this strat, and I just completed it first try. This is way more powerful and effective than the infinite limit breaks strat with Aerith I see floating around. Hopefully Square doesn't end up patching this.
extra tip: synergy abilities cancel shadowy chains so it's good for buying a few seconds of time if Sephy tries to use it and Aerith doesn't have enough ATB for firaga / blizzaga

Brumal Form/Atb trick is next level.
I completed this before I learned about it. My first clear took like 30 minutes. After using the Brumal Form/ATB trick it only took around 6 minutes.
It's a fun little set up. I always wanted to see Aerith with infinite ATB magick attacks in Remake. Now it's possible in Rebirth.
Plus you got the Genji gloves to break damage limit. I had Cloud hitting 50k damage on Titan. Some of the magic builds in this game are awesome.

This strategy is not full proof. The fight comes down to RNG with Sephiroth. Sometimes, he'll go right for Yuffie and use his stun without hesitation. The guy got lucky in the beginning....

Ok, I have to say it.
After one week and almost a mental breakdown, I was going to die to octaslash again. Then I survived, Yuffie got chained and went to second phase, forgetting she would be free. But I manage, go with blizzaga. Almost dead, but he octaslash Yuffie and she's almost done. Panic is in my body while I blizzaga when he changed affinity to ice like yesterday. Panic again. Last double firaga, and videogame dopamine, last time like that was Dark Souls 1.

Add enemy skill materia for plasma discharge and every time yuffie earns an atb bar she releases an electric aoe attack that interrupts many attacks. When yuffie mugs and hits she gets atb back, with doppelganger and haste you'll have 2 bars all the time
I put hp absorb on my enemy skill so I get hp from the plasma discharge aoe
While I Dark Souls my way to victory, gotta say I love seeing a cheese strat.
If Sephiroth is going to bring the cheese, then I am going to bring the smelly cheese that nearly destroyed my family bowels.
Wait, so how does this strat work? All I know is that the move that Yuffie is doing dodges attacks and she gains ATB for a perfect dodge. I presume that after she uses ATB, cuz of ATB Ward and Haste, everyone else gains ATB; which Barrett and Aerith then use to spam magic/skills? Since Yuffie is the controlled character, all the enemies just focus on her, meaning that uour other party members are moreorless safe. Is that correct?
So Yuffie spamming Brumal in the ward is triggering the ATB assist materia which is also helping give more ATB to barret/aerih. The person being targeted doesn’t really matter except for sephiroth as barret has lifesaver on plus he can spam prayer so dmg isn’t really a problem. But otherwise yea you got it down pat, just Aerith is the main dps as that’s what her materia is set up for while barret is there for tanking/healing.
Synergy Materia linked with fire/ice on Barret can also speed up the damage output.
Between brutal form, blindside, and the ability to elemental and do two of every attack with doppleganger, yuffie is just OP. Slap an hp absorb and plasma discharge and suddenly shes also immortal.
Will this work for the upa sidequest battle square challenges?

why do you need assess?
This version of Sephiroth should be many people's final enemy to Assess if everything else in the game was done beforehand (the other being the 5th giant flying bird enemy in the Can't Stop, Won't Stop sidequest)

This reminds me of FF13, using a Synergist-Saboteur party to apply a million buffs and debuffs
Staying inside that ATB Ward is the only tricky part for me.
God putting the genji arms on to increase the damage cap would make this go even faster too 😭

I am using this method. Rounds 1 to 4. No problems. Round 5 with VR Seph I am having a bit of trouble. It seems I am too slow to get the set up done. Any tips to help?
Update: I f-ing beat the damn challenge.....barely. I have spent days on this. I got close once. VR Seph had a sliver of health left then he nailed me with an attack. I was so pissed but kept at it. Finally done. Now to move on to the Legendary challenges. Thanks again for this guide.
I can't seem to get this build to work for the Sephiroth fight. He stuns and uses Octslash pretty much instantly. Such a broken fight.

*in game if i build atb with yuffie,aerith seems like always go outside the arcane ward and if i press warp, aerith teleport to atb ward :(

I’ve been trying this build for the past few hours & Im terrible because I can’t get past Titan & Bahamuh.
After a few tries I just found out that it's better to skip Arcane Ward when fighting Sephy, time is gold. Just start spamming Firaga as soon as you can so you don't get caught by shadowy chains and don't give him a breath.
I suppose if you want to up the hurt, use Plasma Discharge from the Enemy Skill materia linked to HP Absorb
on barret?

Trying to match the Materia set up but I don’t have enough Magnify materia. Yuffie has one and Barret has two, but all the guides I can find online say there’s only three orbs in the entire game and you don’t get to keep the one from chapter 1, which wasn’t there anyway when I replayed it which leaves just two you can actually use.
How do I get three orbs of Magnify?
Brutal challenge 6 should be the last magnify you collect, I think cait sith starts with one and you get one from side quest in Cosmo canyon.
@@oniyoda those are the two I have but I’m still struggling to beat brutal challenge 2. Even using this method I’m struggling to get past round 6. These are literally the last things I need to do before tackling hard mode and platinuming the game and every cheese strat I can find works flawlessly for a few rounds and then falls apart on me and I don’t know why.
Like the other guy said, you get orb 3 from a combat challenge but you don’t even need magnify barrier on any challenge except for the last, so you might be doing something wrong
Even when manually controlling Barret on sepiroth he just goes after Yuffie or Aerith with chains...... guess its up tp rnjesus on who he chains.
How do you keep refilling yuffie’s mp?
You need Roche cham, aerith atb boost skill. Yuffie only needs haste and Spam bumal Form.

@@ghostly_number yes, but aerith atb boost skill refilles All Party atb. Give her haste and roches charm, go into the circle and try it. Or you can just Look for a guide on TH-cam. They are every where

What is the purpose of using Maximum Fury instead of casting something Faith to get an insane Firaga from Aerith?
You can definitely replace his revive to get faith if you want, I just took the safer route since I don’t have aerith using a genji glove anyways so she’s gonna cap at 9999 for dmg
Very curious as to if there is a Yuffie focused damage build for the challenges. All I really see is Cloud Limit Siphon Finishing Touch Cheese or Aerith Spamming Magic/Quaga. Which whilst is cool, Yuffie is my fav FF7 character. I'd love to know if there's some sort of dmg focused build for her where she's the team's focus.
In theory you could have Yuffie set up the same way I have cloud set up in my bonds of friendship video and just have her spam op magic with the other people buffing her
Omg! You broke the game! 😂 IM STUCK with the stupid hard mode UPA quest in the arena. I’ll have to try this method there (modify if needed as tonberries could instakill even ai) - would this work with the genji glove and plum rose rod to deal over the 9999 limit? That could break this even harder 😮
For UPA just use safety bits and the tonberries won’t insta kill
I hid on the edge with Aerith and put up a shield so Rancor attacks hit the shield instead of me. Then it's pretty much free. You can copy the strat above for Aerith I just had petrify instead of fire.
Once again Aerith is absurdly broken. Only her atb gain and her dodge sucks, but even that can be fixed with radiant ward

@@DigimonVidsATB ward does not make skills free in Rebirth. It's probably a combination of meeting Brumal Form's enemy attack dodge requirements, and maybe materia like ATB charge rate up, that is making Brumal Form seem 'free' to use since the spent ATB gets instantly refunded
Haste on Yuffie, atb ward on the ground, and Yuffie has the speed demon charm (recovers some atb after using an ability).
You also have to have a skill unlocked in Yuffies folio that gives a small atb boost when using a weapon ability. If you don't unlock this it doesn't work.
Haste +Rochey chain = UNLIMITEE POWAAAAA
What am I doing wrong? Sephiroth chained all three of my party and octoslashed me to fuck... how do i ensure he chains Barret and then how do i prevent him just chaining the rest?
Same problem here. If he chains Aerith or Yuffie there doesn’t seem to be anyway to recover.
@Niallenev I managed to do it in the end. The chain attack is actually blockable and the timing isn't too bad, so if he doesn't chain Barret and you can't get him locked down with Firagas, then you can still block the chain attempt with Yuffie with a precision block until you can get set up. It's just such a pain that you have to fight through the 4 first battles every single time. Really don't know what the devs were thinking with these challenges tbh. Not fun, just a slog.

Is your materia maxed? Because the only thing I can think of is that ur missing a part of the set up as you get 50% mo back no matter what afaik

The issues is when I finish a battle in simulator (either normal or brutal or Legendary), instead of recovering +50% HP & +50% MP, i'm only recovering +50%HP/+30% MP. I agree with you, this particular heal should not be influenced by my materias, that's why i'm asking 😭

Why is my atb charge going down spamming brumal form?
Also my mp is draining from Aerith.
You probably don’t have haste on Yuffie and one of the materia you have on Aerith probably isn’t maxed out, check the description to make sure your set up lines up with mine
Be sure your ATB Assist materia is maxed, Yuffie has Haste applied and has the speed demon keychain equipped, and be sure your MP Absorb is maxed out and attached to a fire materia, and all of your fire materias are maxed.
Keep in mind that if your Fire materia attached to MP Absorb is not maxed (e.g. it only has Fire and Fira), then Firaga will _not_ trigger MP Absorb, so all materia you use needs to be maxed out.

Yes, if you spam it inside an ATB Ward cast by Aerith.

Am i missing something? Your build for Yuffie has six materia in her weapon, but my Crescent Sickle only has five slots.
It’s most likely your weapon level, my weapons are maxed out but they are the level before max, also you can drop her revival materia if the slot still doesn’t show up for some reason

How U can have party without Cloud? What?
i know you got very lucky with sephiroth... a majority of the time he captures everyone too quickly and you dont have the ability to get things set up so perfectly like this. I know from experience that runs like this where everything works out and all the timing works out is like 1/20 at most.
This also works so damn well if you run Genji Gloves for Aerith. She can easily deal 30K+ damage off of one firaga against Gilgamesh with it equipped.
This can help you greatly against the later bosses on hard mode.
Genji gloves with +15% damage output but 15% damage you take.
Maybe go for Fury Ring, it has the same effect but 30%

Genji Earrings is the one that buffs damage/damage taken by 15%. Honestly better off with just the Gloves

Why you use that skill with Yuffie?
Because it uses like an 8th of an ATB bar to use. (Just requires 1 whole one to unlock it) The ATB ward on the ground that Aerith casts gifts ATB to other characters when ATB is used inside of it. With haste on Yuffie, (and probably the Roche Plush) the ATB recovers so fast that it doesn’t even lower, so it’s able to be cast infinitely within the ward, therefore fueling the ATB of the other party members in the blink of an eye. What more is that Brumal Form just REMOVES Yuffie’s hitbox, making her invincible for 99% of the fight.

Honestly tried this and couldn't get it to work very well. Was much easier doing it normally.
It relies on Yuffie drawing aggro from the enemies. If the party is all bunched up, the damage overload will kill Barret

@TonyTankoy-Bonki-qw1ho right but there should still be an initial cost. It’s not much but ap only doesn’t go down if you dodge an attack. But in this video it never goes down whether they dodge or not
@TonyTankoy-Bonki-qw1ho I figured it out if you’re still curious. There’s an accessory that reduces atb cost. That plus haste equals no loss. I forget what the accessory is called though

I think using Thunder and Ice instead of Fire would be a bit more efficient because Thunder causes a bit of stun and if you are fast enough they won't even be able to touch you.
Fire is better overall for this challenge. Combo it with elemental on your armor to trivialize the first round, and Seph heals you if he gets off a firaga during affinity: fire. Gilgamesh is also weak to fire, and Kujata is most likely to take on ice and thunder aspects, making him weak to fire as well. Ice can be funky due to the double hit mechanic. Best to just use it for Phoenix and then forget you have it.
@@Bigshot0910 Firaga is also the best choice to juggle Sephiroth`s first phase in the last battle, since he can dodge out of the Blizagga hit if you are unlucky and he recovers faster frum Thundaga.

I mean, it's understandable why people would think that. If you're one of those mouthbreathers who play on easy and spam square all day like they're playing Kingdom Hearts. Without realizing that Aerith actually has abilities that she can use to enhance her gameplay. Her best ability Arcane Ward is literally the first ability she gains, and it allows her to basically melt bosses. This ability alone makes her the most viable character for extremely long, tough boss fights. But if you're an unga bunga square button masher, then she probably won't be too viable in most fights.

I hate it when devs make these optional challenges so damn impossible, you're basically forced to cheese the F out o them. Even they're optional, they should still be, Idk, fun?
I mean you're not forced into using this technique one bit, moreso probs would have to just change up your build and materia for fights like these
Now if ur not having fun that's up to you but challenges like these actually just end up being a skill check so honestly might also just have to up your game
This thing can literally be soloed by multiple characters, including Aerith and Tifa. All you have to do is actually interact with the mechanics (perfect blocking, dodging, using the appropriate ways to pressure and stagger enemies, etc.).
It is very fun to practice and get better, but for the people that just want to finish it actually having a way to cheese it is a positive. If Brumal Form spam wasn't an option we would for sure have a lot of people complaining that they can't beat it after, like, a lazy aftertoon of tries.

Dude the cheese strats in rebirth are mostly for fun. You can beat these challenges regularly just by knowing the mechanics and a good materia set up.

I like the Design of multiple Characters but I hate that they have it all in ONE GAME.
Because I can't fully master anything due to confused Control of each Character's abilities.
The Design of FF15 were better to my Opinions. While you see different effect between Each Characters but they all have same Type of Powers mapping.
I wish they hate Separate DLC for each character but better yet, allow us to Choose Specific Character per each Play-through for the entire Story. I know you can set "Leader" during battle mode but that would also require us to change Characters based on specific story timeline.
Why is this RNG for me! got to Round 4 when Gilgamesh? lol -_- Aerith doesn't want to stand near the Arcane Ward to deal enough damage..(nvm...I GOT it after a few tries!) XD
